Tomatillo is a cool spot for burritos and tacos and other great Mexican food. If you don’t want to make the travel to chipotle I recommend going to Tomatillo it’s just as good as chipotle. Staff is great. I recommend going.

Just had the beef enchiladas, a beef taco, and a chili beef taco. The experience was similar to how I would imagine winning powerball, sleeping with Jennifer Aniston, or finally laying in my own bed after being stranded in a cave for a year would be. Upon taking the first bite, I closed my eyes and saw what I would describe as a wonderful fireworks show. I could even faintly hear Savage Garden’s «I knew I loved you» playing in the background. With every subsequent bite, I felt like I was stepping one step closer to heaven. The experience is now over, and I feel like I need to go get in bed and have a cigarette. I think before ordering again, I will be contacting my doctor to see about having my stomach enlarged.

Taco salad is so good with the mango dressing! The burrito bowl with shrimp is a good choice as well!

Awesome place. There food is always fresh. The staff are nice and never give me issues for my weird requests. There quesadilla and Baja fish are my favorite. I like that they cook the fish and shrimp when you order. This place is a regular for me.

Terrible service! Do not waste your time and eat and this knock off chipotle! I tried to give them a try and ordered through grub hub and they delivered the completely wrong order, obviously giving me someone else’s order. I tipped the delivery man before opening my order and when I tried to catch him and tell him he got in the car and drove away. I had to drive back to the location and return the food only to find the location closed for the night. I had to complain through grub hub. I tried to give them another try even though their food is just okay, if you don’t feel like driving to chipotle which is definitely better. This time I went into the actual location since they have a delivery problem and they are very slow none of the prices are the same as online and the people especially the owner is extremely rude. They talk about you in Spanish right in front of your face and they had the nerve to tell me that they didn’t want to serve me because I complained previously, after taking my order and attempting to take money, before I walked out! I will never eat here again! And everyone else don’t waste your time.

Food is good — I like that they offer whole wheat tortillas. I’d put them on par with Chipotle for sure. The delivery, on the other hand, is a bit of a mess. Food comes cold, our guacamole was missing in the most recent instance. If the delivery improves, I’d definitely give them a higher rating.

Nice spot to grab a quick taco or burrito. Very clean. Nice menu options and everything seems to be very fresh. Much better alternative to subway. Love the crunchy tacos. Not much room to sit and eat which is why it’s more of a grab and go place.

Tomatillo Taco Joint provides pretty standard assembly line Americanize Mexican food. It acceptably fills a void with nothing memorable. Truly not a lot to say, think Chipotle, Baja Fresh, Qdoba, etc. That’s what you get, maybe slightly better, but that’s just my personal preference. A hell of a lot better than typical fast food and a lot less expensive that most other over priced restaurants in the area. Would I return? Yes if spending my money, if on an expense account, no. Tomatillo Taco Joint fills the bill for inexpensive eats in downtown, but if looking for anything more than average look elsewhere.

DONOTORDERDELIVERYFROMHERE!!! We ordered food for delivery and it was 1 hour and 15 min late. Are you kidding me? All of the bags and food were leaking, food was cold and disgusting. This place is a joke. I will say that their guacamole was delicious! The rest of the food was mediocre

This is what Chipotle would be if it was any good. I prefer my burritos to be made in the style of San Francisco or Boston Mexican burrito joints(El Gordo, Anna’s Taqueria, Boca Grande) and find Chipotle to be a cheap knock off with flashy ingredients and burritos that fall apart after a bite and poor distribution.(one bite is just pico, another bite is just shredded cheese… go to hell, Chipotle) Tomatillo is what Chipotle wishes it could be. It’s in that style but actually done well. The burrito bowls seem to be the way to go but their burritos also hold up. Their Salsa Verde could use some work, however. Casa Villa does that much better. Get yourself one of their smoothies. I like the Berry Banana myself. If you get it delivered it can be a little bipolar. Sometimes within 20 minutes you’re getting buzzed. Other times it can be over an hour. But rest assured, each time it will be delivered by one of the nicest delivery people in America. He’s so appreciative of your business that even on those hour+ days, you can’t help but smile and be forgiving(the guy’s a genius). Surprisingly, the food holds up with a quick run in the microwave if it does arrive cold or lukewarm. As I have no Anna’s Taqueria equivalent here in western CT and I think Chipotle is a sick, twisted joke by a vengeful Norse god, Tomatillo has helped fill a void for burritos.

Just moved to Stamford from NYC and we were sad that we couldn’t get our Chipotle burritio bowl fix. We came across Tomatillo’s on seamless and my wife and were both really impressed. Its nothing like the Mission, but I dont think its trying to be. When your putting it in the ring with Chipotle, we think it actually wins!

Went back after a long hiatus and really enjoyed the food. I think the manager may have heeded my advice from the last review as the staff has been very wary of making sure they keep things sanitary. Loved it!

Given the lack of mexican restaurants in Stamford, Tomatillo hits the spot when you’re looking for some decent mexican food. I’m still a bigger fan of chipotle, but this place is a close second. I’ve never been to the actual location, but have ordered from Seamless a couple of times. The food portions are huge and the food is definitely fresher than Chipotle. The biggest issue I have with Tomatillo is the delivery times. Most of the time Seamless will quote 45 – 60 minutes, but it’s usually closer to an hour and 30 minutes. As a result, the food is usually cold and always requires me to reheat it. The delivery guy is super nice and always very apologetic.

Well there’s no Chipotle or Qdoba in Stamford, but there is a Tomatillo and a Picante Fresh. My preference is for Tomatillo, which is more of the assembly line type of fast food Mexican place. Yes this is also a chain, but it is local to CT and there are only 3 locations in total. The food is very comparable to your beloved Chipotle or Qdoba, but it’s cheaper and bigger and less well known. Granted their rice probably does not taste as good, but it is a good alternative and well you don’t have to spend more than $ 10 like you do at Chipotle nowadays. The seating in this place is limited, however if you want to take your meal to go, they give plastic bags if needed. Clean, bright and has yet to disappoint me.

Yes, trust the reviews… better than Chipotle! Fresh, savory ingredients and ideal for a low carb diet. 1 huge burrito, 1 huge steak salad and a large ice tea and it was a little over $ 20. Last but not least, service was spot on.

I’ve been working for a few shows up here in the area and I must say this place knocks Chipotle out the box!!! Ingredients are fresh… Not processed… And best of all there is never a ridiculous line like at chipotle… They have a tomatillo sauce and mango/lime sauce that is crazy!!! This place has made me forget about chipotle period… It’s either here or my Mexican spot in Brooklyn. Try the chicken tacos… Burritos are huge!!! Their is something for everyone here… I also forgot to mention they stuff the s#*t out of the burritos and tacos here. Make sure you come on an empty stomach… The mango /lime sauce is fu#*ing retarded!!! Never had something so good

Great Customer Service! My friend and I came here one Friday afternoon for some lunch. The place was PACKED. But I have to tell you Tomatillo definitely awakens you to flavors never had before. Everything was yummy, well-cooked, and I had a lovely lunch here. They reason I am giving it 4stars instead of 5, is beacuse I found thier food a little salty. However I will be back.
