Poor customer service. Business may be business but had an uneasy feeling of being taken advantage of. Paid their restocking fee rather than buy from there. Broke out even buying from another vendor and feel better for it.

It always looks very promising from when you walk in, especially because its really one of the camera shops in the local area. They have pretty decent inventory from what I’ve seen, and the prices are ok, a tad pricey. But, that’s not what I have a problem with, it’s the customer service. As the staff may be fairly knowledgeable, they just seem very pretentious and hold a lot of judgment for the customers who enter the store. Especially from the point of view of a younger kid, seeming like I haven’t gained their «respect» because I’m not dropping big bucks on some equipment. Just a very uncomfortable experience overall.

I got what I needed — but I left feeling determined to post a review — which I rarely do.
There’s a balance between showing you’re a knowledgeable vendor and making your customer feel stupid. She went straight for disdain.

This is the worst place of business I have ever been to. When I walked in, there were 3 people there, one guy eating his breakfast and no one had ANY interest in talking to me or trying to explain a camera.
This is the worst customer service I have ever seen anywhere. It is too bad that there is not a «professional» camera store anywhere in CT or Westchester but I will go to B&H anytime over these disinterested and unfriendly salespeople.

Not sure why other reviewers here keep on mentioning B&H, but I love coming to this shop because of the proper attention I get.
Knowledgeable staff on all the major brands, instead of having every salesman trained for only a single brand.
They are constantly adding new brands to their lineup. Since I started shopping, try added Fuji and GoPro and expanded their Tamron an Leica selection.
If refreshing to see a local shop holding its own in this economic environment.

They had my camera for a simple repair for almost 5 months…
they said it was taking so long because of the ’ tsunami”
Go to B and H !! Much better selection and service…

I keep giving this old school place a chance since they are the only Leica dealer around me. Their customer service is horrible — has been each time I have gone there. Today I walked in 5 mins before closing because I wanted take a quick look at a Leica camera and I heard the salespeople actually say, «look at this guy coming in here 2 mins before closing» and then they turned and pretended to look busy. Never again. $ 7000 camera at no discount — why shop at a place that doesn’t know how to treat customers.

I was referred to this store from my cousin who shops here often. I did plenty of research online before coming in, and was extremely happy with the people who work in this store. Not only were they knowledgeable about cameras, but they simplified my camera purchase and answered all my questions. Since they are an authorized Canon dealer, their prices were the same as all the big box retailers. This store also has free classes on Thursdays which I plan to take advantage of. Overall, I was very very happy with the camera and service that I received from this store. Kudos to Todd and Fred who really made this a better then expected experience for my wife and I.

Absolutely best place to get terrific service, extremely knowledgeable professionals AND excellent price.

Knowledgable staff and real easy to get to right off the merit. When you stop here save room to eat across the street at the rye ridge deli. 5 star food there.

These guys are great — always helpful and always have what I need in stock.
I’m not sure about the two negative comments below — they’ve always matched the prices at B&H and elsewhere and they’ve always taken returns, not that I’ve returned all that much but when I have they were more than happy to make things right.

Just purchased a 60D at the same price as amazon, B&H Photo, etc. glad to see their competitive. The service was great and very knowledgeable. I’ll be coming back to watch a seminar on their store flat-​screen.
Their bag selection is also very large :)

I really wanted to like this store since I’m into photography and liked the convenience of having a local photo store.
When I talk to the staff they they just don’t seem interested in helping you that much. They don’t seem that knowledgeable either. I bought a screen protector for one of my digital SLR’s. They were sure it would fit and I bought it. (It was pricier than I thought it should be but hey I figured I was helping a good local store stay in business). I got home and of course it didn’t fit. Unfortunately I couldn’t return it since I had a flight out the next morning and I was returning after their 14 day return policy. I still went to the store and they refused to grant me a refund.
That was the last strike for me. Prior to that there were two other occasions where they totally disappointed.
I’ll never go back again and if they go out of business, I really won’t notice.

I am conflicted — I so want to love this place — and this area cant lose its last decent camera store — but they consistently bum me out. .
I need these guys to be better price wise, i need them to keep a better stock of the good to better quality accessories i need. They sure do have the knowledge — but they have not been able to compete price wise on two occasions, and they’ve not had gear i’ve needed three times — so i wind up stopping there, getting frustrated and then heading down to the city.
I am not going to give up though and will support them where i can, in the hopes they get clued in

Camera Wholesalers is the BEST local camera store around! It’s locally owned, and the staff is extremely knowledgeable. They all really know their stuff. They carry all types of cameras from film to digital to video, and they have lots of new and used cameras. They also do film processing here, so it’s really a one-​stop shop for all of your photography or videography needs!
I’ve bought numerous things here over the years, such as cameras, photo developing equipment, film, camera cases, etc, and have had nothing but great service. I would recommend this place to any photographer, either a hobbyist or a pro. Their prices are great, but what is also great is that you know they are there to help you if you have any questions about anything you buy!
