On a recommendation from a friend I chose to take another friend of mine to 3 Birds. We were both hungry for salad, and the grilled chicken salad seemed like it would satisfy our cravings. When we drove up we were both taken back by the beauty of the old house. We were greeted very quickly and by some big smiles. We were seated promptly and it was only a couple of minutes wait for the server to come for our drink order. Now we only wanted water to drink. We were both parched and didn’t want alcohol. We were going to a movie and beer would have just made both of us tired. Service plummeted after that. It felt like our server kind of forgot about us. We had to yell to get his attention. Now, we are both professional servers having worked in the industry for over 20 years individually. Neither of us saw enough business for there to be such a delay. It seemed to take a while to get our salads. The chicken in my salad was very dry and we both ended up having to ask for more dressing, which we had to get up from the table to ask for and we both got charged for. They had two soups: minestrone and chicken florentine. My friend ordered the chicken Florentine thinking that it was a cream base, but it was tomato based and apparently indistinguishable from their minestrone, not just by our server but the server who delivered it. She sent it back. They also don’t serve any sort of bread or crackers with their salad so we had asked for whatever they have which end up being pita, which was ok. They charge just a buck for 1 pita that was grilled. Overall the salad was okay, it would have been really good had the chicken not been dry because it was overcooked. The service however sucked. The server always seem to be in a big rush even though there wasn’t very much business from our perspective. He didn’t wear a nametag nor did he introduce himself. I really like the ambience, so I would be willing to try this place again. But, for the time being I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. And if the bald guy with the beard was our server we would quickly ask for someone else. The server missed out. We both think that he blew us off because we weren’t drinking and he assumed we would be average to poor tippers. I still left his lame @zz $ 5 on our $ 30 check, but that was more than he really deserved says this veteran server/bartender.

Love coming here enjoying and enjoying some drinks on the huge outside patio they have. Been coming here for years now and always have enjoyed it. They have a great selection of craft beers. Justin the bartender was hilarious and made our time there very enjoyable my complaint is the $ 6 – 7 for draft beers and I haven’t noticed any happy hour specials. Also a great place to watch sports! I recently was able to order food since the revamped their menu and wow so good! We had the lamb taziki and feta burgers with the JoJos potatoes that comes with a jalapeño quest sauce. I could eat that all day it was amazing!!!

Perfect for a late night drink and laid back dinner(which was amazing for the price). Not a rowdy place on a weeknight. Nice music, great atmosphere, tasty food, good service. We’ll be back soon! NOT a creepy downtown place.

I’ve been here twice and I do like it BUT(and when you say but that’s never good). I IMMEDIATELY was turned off because they have a «drink of the day» special cocktails section and I wanted to order the Saturday night cocktail and they were out of raspberry schnapps? Like who has a drink of the day special and then doesn’t order enough product to make the drink? TTHHENN I chose to order another drink of the day drink(Wednesday night) and she told me it wouldn’t be the«special price» because it’s not Wednesday and it was $ 10. I was shocked when the bill came because it was almost as much as the sand which my boyfriend got. Like really?!? If you don’t have the drink of the day by 8pm then you should offer the other 6 drinks for the same price. Ridiculous. I would give 5 stars for the food. Amazing burgers and sandwiches and the sweet potato fries, to die for. The butter was good but too much on top of the fries(I picked around the butter) but the honey. Mmmmm amazing sweet potato fries. I also give 5 stars for atmosphere. Great cute location and good music. Sat outside and loved the vibe. Great date night. Oh and more not good stuff. Cleanliness. The silver wear was dirty and had food stuck to it. The tables were sticky and gross, the menu kept sticking to it. And our server was just OK. She didn’t speak good English. Over all good. Would have been great if they had the drink OR if they offered me another for the special price. But no.

My 11 year old said their grilled cheese w shishito peppers was heaven in a sandwich. Fries were perfect, Kurz salad fresh & delicious. We will eat here again. Loved sitting outside on the patio.

Two Thumbs Down. A restaurant /bar around the corner from my house so I have visited numerous times hoping for something good. Well, it never came. The food is bland at best, the service lacks any consistancy, and the general ownership mentality is poor. On top of all this, the bar is not dog friendly. They only allow dogs on their side patio, which rarely has a single customer. Which is annoying because they have a large outdoor bar on the opposite side of the building, where you would consider hanging out with your dog since it is shaded. THESHORT: St. Petersburg has too many great places to waste your time here, even if it is around the corner from your house.

Dinner with the girls– I finally made it over here! Love the wraparound porch/seating area outside. Inside dining area is a nice space as well. I believe our server’s name that night was Ian and he was the important three F’s: friendly, funny and fast with the service! I ordered the drink special of the night, the Whips n’ Kicks and the spicy BBQ chicken sandwich w/fries for my meal. My food was good, the sandwich was huge and you get a ton of fries with it. My friends also enjoyed their meals: shepherd’s pie and the avocado bacon & egg burger. Atmosphere is chill and relaxed, we did not feel rushed during our meal and service was excellent. Will definitely be returning!

The Sheppards pie was excellent! Went to dinner with my sister and her husband. And the fur babies! Everyone had great food. We were starving when we got there. Waitress was very nice.

Have been a few times –hit or miss with the service. This trip we had Katherine –best by far. friendly and helpful. This trip we had the Shepard’s pie-good flavor –could have stand for a bit more beef-the beef did lack flavor but the mashed potatoes were delicious. My friend had the Spicy fried Chicken sandwich. Cooked nicely but the overall sandwich was dry. Will be back fun to go and drink and hang out. not a food destination

So we’ve been coming here a lot lately. The brit amongst us really likes it. They have some good bands as well including the steampunk band with all their followers which is always fun. I rarely leave here without making a new friend Between us we’ve tried the pork belly. The scotch egg. burgers…fries with truffle mayo… Shepard pie. The scotch egg is too dry for me. I’d rather go to jacks london grill for that. The. pork belly is good although sometimes not cooked to perfection. The burgers are good. The chicken sandwich with shishito peppers is awesome! Shepards pie is not for me but others have really enjoyed it. Service is friendly although sometimes a little slow. Just a good place to hang out and enjoy the day.

Three Birds Tavern St Petersburg, FL March 2012 Finally made it to Three Birds Tavern for my first time. It was on a Thursday. It has been one of those places«on my list» that I’ve wanted to go to for a while. I have to say it was a MAJOR disappointment. Sorry to say that, since I’d heard such great things about Chef Donnie. I bought the $ 12 for $ 25 worth of food deal from Creative Loafing„ thinking okay, good. I mean, it’s a tavern, right? not Armani’s. Shouldn’t cost too much. Wrong, wrong, wrong. We wouldn’t sit outside on this beautiful day since there were about 5 tables of people chain-smoking. We walked inside and were shocked to find that the place smelled like urine. After a few minutes, we adjusted to the smell, we weren’t going to leave because we had driven about an hour and a half to get there, and we had the CL Deal. 2 of us went. I ordered Chimay(my fave ale). Okay so they get points for having Chimay, but instantly lost points since both the waitress AND the bartender did not know which Chimay(I actually prefer red cap) they had, and even after locating a bottle, had to show it to me since they didn’t know the difference. Then… it was served in a tall beer glass. Chimay should be served in a wide-mouthed goblet(sigh). My dinner partner had Spaten and was happy with that. We both ordered one starter and one sandwich. I ordered the short rib egg rolls with gorgonzola sauce, since I had been hearing about them since they opened. Eh. Gorgonzola sauce? First, it was hot, and it was peach colored and I didn’t taste any gorgonzola. I kept tasting the sauce and tasting the sauce by itself, and could not determine what flavors were in it. I think with the hot short rib egg roll, a cold(or cool) sauce that tasted like gorgonzola would have been nice. This was… I don’t know, like McDonald’s special sauce from the Big Macs? I didn’t really get a taste of anything from the short ribs, it was just some kind of unseasoned shredded meat. My dinner partner had the vegetable risotto, which was asparagus. He liked it. I tasted, it was good, but overly spiced. Too many flavors going on. Then our sandwiches came. He had the meat loaf sandwich with frites. He loved the frites, I wasn’t particular impressed. I was disappointed in the mushy meat loaf. Damn, no one makes meat loaf like my mama! I had the bratwurst, it was good… but the bun immediately fell apart. I ended up having to eat it with a fork and knife. I have to say my side dish was positively delicious, it was baby spinach very lightly sauted in lemon and garlic. The star of the meal, absolutely. We decided on one dessert, had the chunky monkey bread pudding. I have to say this was not bread pudding, to me. It was banana bread. No «pudding» at all, it was completely dry, with chocolate chips and chocolate sauce. Parts of it were warm, parts were ice cold. Didn’t finish it. It was positively awful. Then the surprise! Bill for lunch for the 2 of us… over $ 70…with tip would have been $ 85. For two starters, two sandwiches, and one dessert… yeah, and four beers. But still. All in all, I loved the spinach, he really liked the risotto. Thank goodness I had the $ 25 off, so the lunch actually cost us about $ 75 including tip. We were assured that Chef Donnie(Domenica Macchia) was in house, and was preparing our food for us. Since I told the waitress to tell Donnie that we were friends of friends of hers, and that it was my birthday, and that I had been dying to come to Three Birds for so long, I kind of expected her to make an appearance at our table, if just to say hello. Jeannie Pierola does that for me at the super-crowded KitchenBars. But nope, they just said that Donnie would like us to fill out the comment card. Well, okay then. There were only maybe 8 or 10 tables occupied, so for sure it wasn’t that she was super busy. The $ 75 would have been better spent at a myriad of other places. I finally ate at Three Birds, and I won’t go back. :(

We met some friends here mid afternoon on a Saturday. It was the perfect spot due to the fantastic courtyard, ample seating, and convenient parking lot on site. Our server gave us great beer recommendations, and the food was superb. I LOVED the lighting and ambiance of the place once it got dark. I would probably visit Three Birds again if I came back to St. Pete. Hopefully they drop their prices a bit by then…

I was really impressed by this place! It was the first eating stop in St. Pete and the drinks were great while the food was excellent. There was a group of seven of us, and we sat outside. It was cozy and kind of dark but enough light to see the food. The place has a pretty decent-sized indoor area as well, along with an outside patio area on the other side of the building. We started with the sea salted hot pretzel appetizer, and it was delicious — mostly due to the jalapeño cheddar dipping sauce. It was melt in your mouth good. The side salads that came with some of our meals were also above-average…fresh vegetables, good portion, great bleu cheese dressing. The GF and I ordered Jai Alai IPA — wow! This was the best beer I had during my week spent in Florida, from the Keys to St. Pete to Longwood. People told us to order these beers and that we wouldn’t be disappointed, and we definitely were not. It’s potent and just tastes amazing. Try it, either here or somewhere else, if you’re a craft beer aficionado. For my entrée I ordered a half slab of dry rubbed & Yuengling braised baby back ribs, finished on the grill with house sweet & spicy BBQ sauce, baked potato & fresh corn on the cob. Half slab? It looked(and tasted) like a full slab! It was gigantic. At one point I dropped a rib on my shorts and I was trying to clean it off, and one of the hosts made a joke about me needing a bib. I found that funny, actually. Gotta have a sense of humor. I got the sauce out of the shorts, a week later! Success. The food, drinks and atmosphere make this a great place to stop and have a bite, or many bites. The food was above-average, the service was timely and efficient, and the prices are adequate. Give me some Jai Alai(pronounced«High Lie»), some ribs and a salad and I’ll be great to go.

Everything was fantastic! The only down point to our dinning experience was our waiter. He was SLOW and had useless excuses for why he was so slow. He even gave use an excuse about why he would take forever to being use our check… lol. As far as the food… OMG! We had such a hard time deciding on starters. So my boyfriend and I ordered 4 different thing to try and we were so pleased with the quality, taste, and presentation of English Pub style cuisine. We sat outside on an oak tree cover patio with great background music. This is definitely a restaurant where you can enjoy the outdoors! We are planning what we want to try on our next visit. I can’t wait to come back.

WOW! This was our first time here, 7:30 ish on a Friday night. First, they have quite a line up of beers on tap and 4 pages of drinks in their menu. Oh and if you get one of their daily cocktails, they are only $ 5/each. I digress, the place was busy! The hostess was friendly and showed us around. We sat at the bar. We ordered the Grilled Chicken Salad, but replaced the chicken with Sushi Grade Salmon, seared rare. We ordered the JoJo’s, which are large potato wedges, with a cheddar, beer, jalapeño dipping sauce, and we ordered the Scotch Egg(one of my husbands favorite things, oh and a side of sauteed Spinach(because I love it!). EVERYTHING was amazing. Not a bite we didn’t enjoy, and that’s pretty rare, since I am very particular about the quality and taste of food I eat. The food came out prompt and all together, everything was the temperature it was supposed to be. It was a little dark, and I thought the salmon was going to be overdone, but it was PERFECT! The Blue Cheese Dressing was some of the best I have had, I’m sure it was made by them in the kitchen. The spinach had garlic and butter, my husband said it was just like something I would make at home, it’s hard to find that in a restaurant! The Scotch Egg, was full of flavor, and had an HP sauce,(HP Sauce has a malt vinegar base, blended with tomato, dates, tamarind extract, sweetener and spices), drizzled over the top. This kitchen knows how to put out food! The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable. About the only negative thing I could say was the inside was loud, but it was a busy Friday night, and if that’s the only bad thing I can say, well… it’ll be easy to say, we’ll be going back again! GREATJOB!

Finally came on Hospitality night and had dinner with my honey. This is a very neat pub-like Tavern; very spacious and comfortable. Our server was attentive and fun, and delivered great service. I ordered the Shepard’s Pie without onion, plus cheese. And boy, it was a dream. It was the perfect dinner portion, as well. It had corn, peas, carrots, and of course the mashed potatoes and the beef, with gravy smothered on top. My friend had the Fish n Fries and enjoyed it very much. The fries were perfection. Our dinners came with a side salad. Let me just note, that their balsamic dressing is perfect in every way. Come here with friends or family!
