I made reservations for this place about four days after my birthday because I was working on my birthday. I arrived early and they were willing to seat my boyfriend and I right away. It was perfect because we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. We have been here two times now and came here for my birthday because my boyfriend and I both agreed that they were great! They certainly live up to our image from last time! All the wait staff was very friendly and helpful. My boyfriend and I each had a filet mignon, Oscar style with some variation. My boyfriend stated that his dinner was the best filet mignon he’s ever had. My dish was equally as wonderfull; tender meat topped by large amount of fresh crab meat and four grilled asparagus spears. I also had a lobster bisque soup. It had the perfect consistency, not too runny, and not too thick. There were bits of lobster meat in the soup and was flavored with a dash of different spices that gave it complex flavor. Of course, because I’m a dessert diva, I had to have my dessert. But first, they surprised me by sprinkling confetti on our table before I ordered my dessert. I had the chocolate espresso torte, which thankfully was very small because this taste little torte was dense and thick. It mixed two of my favorite flavors: chocolate and coffee! I followed up this filling dessert with the refreshing raspberry sorbet with the fresh berries and crème anglaise. The best surprise for me is that my dessert came with a candle and the words«Happy Birthday» were written in chocolate! I had forgotten my camera that day(I don’t like using my phones to take that many pictures other than my food) so the waitress took our photo with my dessert before I finally ate it. I even got a card that the staff signed. Very sweet gesture, and wonderful food. Price is high, but to me the food I worth it! Best for going on a special occasion. Its located on the Sundial, so there’s plenty to see and do out in the area.

Come here for happy hour. No need for to come here any other time. You get great drinks for a great price, and even better, you can get a steak sandwich for like $ 8 — and it’s big. One steak sandwich usually is enough for me. If you come here for a meal, it’s not worth the price. You will leave with a MUCH better and cheaper meal if you go to Berns if you want a steak in Tampa Bay — but for Happy Hour — Ruth Chris is a great deal.

I didn’t realize this was going to cost me more then Berns. Just the same it was excellent. Kenny waited on us. Great service except a little slow follow up at the end of the meal. Kenny recommended a great red wine with dinner by bringing a small sample to us. Great job. We had a great meal and fabulous service. Would recommend if you want the best steak in town.

Last night my husband had a wonderful and very delicious dinner. One the downside we made rsvp 3 day in advance for 2 and they sat us on a table for 4 set beautifully but no sooner than we sat they started to undress the table even before we were offered water. During the process of undressing the table I had to assist in the process and reach for glasses and napkins also had to move a place setting and set it for myself. It was just weird that I had made resvp for 2 and they sat us in a table for 4 and in the worse booth too the 1st booth on the left where its super busy while most of the dinning room was empty and our table wasnt really set for us I feel as if they could have a least given us a choice of where we would like to sit. We enjoyed most of the food except for the Spicy Lobster appetizer which was small and a bit difficult to eat. I had a couple of glasses of St. Supéry, Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley, California which was very good and my husband had the Ruth’s Manhattan and an Old fashion one he said they were both very good except not prepared in front of him and with the wrong size ice-cube for the old-fashion one. We then proceeded to place our dinner order and we ordered the Filet for my husband and for me the Cowboy ribeye both med and they did as we asked. Steaks were fantastic! and so tasty too!!! and for our sides we decided on the Lobster Mac Cheese which was full of lobster must more lobster than the Spicy Lobster app. it OK, we also ordered the Cremini Mushrooms and they were to die for Super creamy and delicious. For desert we ordered the Crème Brulee and it was DELICIOUS!!! So overall we had a wonderful dinner and would go back in a heart-beat. Thanks for caring!

Been to the place a few times now. Definitely the best time to go is for their Sunset menu. It’s also the busiest time and it can be hard to get in, especially if your heart was set for the patio. Steak sandwiches are to die for! The salad is nice, but doesn’t come with much steak. Only 2 small pieces. $ 9 martinis and a few more cocktails are great! When we sat at the bar inside, we noticed that Yvonne was a great bartender. So wish we had her… Ours was aloof and mostly gone. Tried flagging her down, but Yvonne picked up the slack and was wonderful. We’ve gone for a non-sunset dinner, as well. It was a long while ago. The food was good. Our steaks came overcooked and the manager was great at recognizing that(after inspection) and even giving us a complimentary glass of wine while we waited for the new steaks to arrive.

4 ½ stars would be my best bet, location for this ruth’s steak house is perfect! Upstairs overlooking the shopping plaza and some of downtown st.pete. As always at any location very elegant inside and out, from table to bathroom towel just upscale. Me and my wife had received a anniversary gift card from her dad, so six months later we finally got to use it. Glad we did to because the food here is amazing. Without the a gift card this would never be in our best interest to visit because its just too expensive. We made reservations online and even showed up a little too early but the staff found us a table anyways and was very polite about it. While waiting for the waitress we had 2 people ask us about water, both times i said already did and we’d like to order drinks but couldnt cuz they were just waterboys… When the waitress came over we both ordered house special drinks, which might i add were perfectly balanced may have also been a little strong but you’re paying for it you better not get a watered down drink. My wife ordered the chocolate martini and i ordered the ruth chris classic, both were excellent and lasted the night. We both ordered steak of course but we ordered off there i guess you would call it the three course meal menu. Not the traditional ala carte but more savings and more food for less. First was choice of salad or soup second was main entre and third was desert mine was under $ 55 because i did the ribeye 12oz and hers was under $ 50 for the filet mignon steak 6oz. Like before came out on a 500 degree plate with sides on the side plate and dessert came out shortly after. Steak was just mouth watering melt in your mouth deliciousness. Sides were very tasty and well presented. The desserts were not typical they kinda had a twist of there own so it was very new and interestingly fun. We plan on going back because without a doubt my father in law will send another gift card … hopefully for my sake not hers lol bon appetit!

Did you know Ruth’s Chris Steak House was originally Chris Steak House until Ruth purchased it? You learn something new every day, eh? —– Positives —– (1) Service: Great service as expected from a fine dining restaurant. In fact, it was better than most restaurants in the similar price range. We were greeted multiple times by hostess, wait staff, busser, and food runner. Everyone was friendly and courteous, which made the dining experience more enjoyable. (2) 3-course meal: Blue cheese salad was fresh and dressing was very light; it definitely jump-started my appetite. Rib-eye was cooked just right but make sure to not let it sit for too long because it gets cooked on the sizzling plate. Also, their steak is served in a pool of hot butter, so if you aren’t about that life, you will need to tell the server. Nevertheless, I thought the rib-eye was pretty good. (2a) Fries: Holy macaroni! The fries were supposed to be a side but we got a truck load of them. This is why Europeans think we are fat, America! (3) Lobster Mac & Cheese($ 19): Cheesy goodness with big chunks of lobster and a hint of peppers… This was a huge hit. But this is why Europeans think we are fat, America! —– Tips —– (1) I would ask to be not seated in the private dining area if possible. We were seated there(rather than normal dining area with tables and booths) as it was a busy Friday night. It was a bit warm and stuffy in there. Not overly uncomfortable by any means but definitely noticeable when you step out of the crowded room. (2) Just as an FYI, the 3-course meal(12oz rib eye, salad, and chocolate dessert) was $ 55.95 before tax/tip. Drinks were $ 13 and Lobster Mac was $ 19. Most steaks are priced $ 48 – 60 and you’ll need to get sides separately($ 10 each). Unless your first name is Donald and last name is Trump, you may want to save Ruth’$ Chri$ for special occasions.

My boyfriend and I had an 8 pm reservation on a Friday night and we arrived a few minutes late. The hostess was friendly and we only had to wait about 5 minutes for them to set up. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I had the Ruth’s Classic Dinner and chose the 12 oz Ribeye(rare). I substituted my side with the Shoestring Fries, which the waiter did mention would be a $ 2 upcharge. I started off my meal with the Apple, Walnut & Blue Cheese Salad which was very fresh and light. Our main entrees and sides came out shortly after finishing the salads. I was surprised at how massive my plate of fries were. It’s enough for 4 people! My major complaint is that their steaks are served on a 500 degree plate. My rare steak became medium by the time I was halfway through. I did really like the flavors of the steak and I do occasionally enjoy large amounts of butter in my food. The Chocolate Turtle Cheesecake with Cranberry-Pecan Bark that came with the Classic Dinner was way too sweet for me and I couldn’t eat more than 2 bites. Overall, it was a nice dinner and prices are fair. But I wasn’t that impressed and do not plan on returning.

One star is too much. Go to the one in Tampa. I was excited when the saint Pete location opened since I live nearby. I’m a big fan and have eaten at Ruth’s Chris locations all over the country. I’m also very brand loyal when I’ve had positive experiences. I love Ruth’s Chris for the consistency an amazing service. We were seated and had to wait some time before our drink order was even taken. I ordered my steak medium. I got a steak that was truly tartare. Mistakes happen. I sent it back to be cooked longer. It was brought out to me again no more cooked than it was before. I pushed the steak aside and finish my lobster bisque. When the manager came by I showed him the steak. He offered to take it back a third time, but I told him no since my date was finished and waiting on me by now. I stopped at the fresh market on the way home and bought a quality steak and cooked one myself at home. Excellence seems to be a foreign concept at this location. This is a lackluster example of the Ruth’s Chris quality brand. In the end I was not charged for the steak that I did not get to eat in the first place.

We went for the happy hour which we heard was awesome. It was pretty good but still pricey. The quality was as high as you can get. The small happy hour menu has some really good choices from lobster to burgers and a couple of wines that pair well with them. We started with the Spicy Lobster which is their version of the spicy shrimp; delicious! The flavors were all there and the sauce did not over power the lobster taste. The little salad on the side was a great contrast to the lobster. Moved on the the burger. Of course the flavors where there as that is what Ruth’s does. Over all though I felt it needed something else. Worth the trip but be prepared to pay $$$

I feel like Ruth’s Chris is overpriced for what you get and the quality of what you get. If you want a good steak in Tampa Bay, go to Berns, it’ll end up being thousands of times better and much cheaper. However, that being said, Ruth’s Chris has good happy hour deals! The happy hour only goes til 6:00pm though, so get there early!

Place is expensive, but the steaks are Amazing! It is nice to go for a special occasion. For 2 petite Ribeyes, 4 cocktails, 2 appetizers, 2 side dishes ans 1 dessert was $ 275.00 including tip. Service was excellent! From we walked through the door. If you are craving a perfect steak, this is the place to go.

Simply put, Ruth Chris is not what it used to be. If you want a posh meal, there are many other options that will serve your tastebuds and wallet better. Basically, read Todd B.‘s review. His review tells you everything you need, but long story short — the venue sells this place, the service is standard good and the food is mediocre. The venue is great because you’re in downtown St Pete and there is a good size patio where you can people watch. The interior is your typical chain steakhouse — refined and dark. The best part of my meal was the Caesar salad! My boyfriend was unimpressed with the steak and the lobster was way over cooked. That should not happen when you are paying over $ 100 for two people for dinner. Why I am going so harsh with 2 stars is because for the price you are paying you could pay the same or less for much better food. The Birchwood has the same prices or less and the food is better and their patio is across from the water. Don’t fall into the name brand trap — don’t go to Ruth Chris because you know the name; look at Unilocal do better than this.

I am awfully surprised by how much I didn’t care for Ruth’s Chris. It’s not that it was bad, but for the prices, every other steakhouse I have ever been to rates higher. Much higher. I’ll begin with the good — this restaurant is at the new Sundial location in St. Pete — an upscale small shopping venue and movie theater downtown. Ruth’s Chris is on the 2nd floor with a nice balcony/patio overlooking the courtyard. Its definitely a pretty place to grab a meal. Also, and this is sad, but the two best parts of the meal were the bread service and the caesar’s salad I started with. Everything else was mediocre. Service — the server was nice, but clearly tried to sell my girlfriend the most expensive glass of wine for the type of wine she wanted. Didn’t have any specifics or details on the wine to justify suggesting it — my girlfriend asked about a choice between 2 others, and to the server’s credit, she supplied an intelligent opinion, but then threw in her favorite was the glass that was $ 5 more. Couldn’t have been more obvious. Server was also a bit overbearing. I like being attended to at a restaurant, especially one where I am spending so much money, but there is such a thing as unobtrusive service. There is no need to ask us every 2 – 3 minutes if we need anything. Take our order, check to see if we like everything, if our glasses empty, ask if we want another, but otherwise, just walk by and see if we look okay. If I need anything, I’ll let you know, but you don’t need to ask every freaking minute. I’m trying to have a nice intimate dinner with a beautiful woman and you’re interrupting. Food — Melissa got the tuna, and found it okay at best. I ordered from their«prix-fixe» menu(I forget what they call it, but its a choice of an appetizer, entrée and dessert from a set menu). I chose the salad and the petite filet/lobster tail combo. This is simple — the steak was undercooked(but that’s okay since I chose to eat it and not send it back), but was generally tasteless. No seasoning at all or at least, way to light on the salt and pepper. Lobster was really overcooked and all the butter in the world couldn’t save it. We got a side of creamed spinach, too, that was good — probably the second best thing next to the salad. Finally, for dessert — I forget what dessert was supposed to come with my dinner(I think a strawberry shortcake, but I might be mistaken) but they ran out of it. However, they brought us a substitute. My problem is that(a) we probably should have been given a choice on the substitute instead of the restaurant choosing for us and(b) they just brought the substitute with no one explaining what we were getting and why. The one time the server’s obtrusiveness would have been helpful(«I’m sorry, but we ran out of that — I have this other item, or you can instead have…»), she didn’t come out for 3 – 5 minutes. I’m thankful we had a gift card for this meal, otherwise I would have been pissed about spending so much money on a mediocre meal at best. I won’t be back to Ruth’s Chris. There are too many fantastic steakhouses, even in Tampa and St. Pete, to waste time at this one.

Came here recently for a family dinner. I was very impressed with the quality and attentiveness of the service. I am not a steam eater, so I opted for seafood entrees. We also had the crab shack appetizer alone with the ahi tuna and shrimp skewer. I wasn’t blown away by the shrimp or the ahi tuna, but the crab shack was divine. For my entrée, I got the salmon selection for the evening along with a Caesar salad, mashed potatoes, and veggies on the side. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The mashed potatoes tasted like something out of Grandma’s kitchen, so to speak. With all that being said, the price point is definitely high on this place so I would recommend it more for those who are steak lovers.

Omg. The ambience is beautiful. We sat outside on the patio and was able to enjoy the sunset while eating our steaks. This was by far one of the best steaks I’ve ever had… I let my boyfriend talk me in to getting my steak Pittsburgh style… Seared on the outside and raw inside… It was sooooo good… We left extremely full and agreed why it was a bit pricey but Def worth it.

What is the major malfunction people!!! It’s a Ruth Chris for Christ sakes! How do you F-Up a Ruth Chris chain steak house?! How is it that that an all time classic and much anticipated arrival to the Burg could be so F’d up when it comes to side times and service? I’ve been back several times and the bad just keeps on keeping bad month after month since opening. It must be those real life side item Gremlins in the kitchen blowing those side dishes right out their hairy little asses along with dumb & dumber running the place. Or maybe it’s just that they have a former manger from a frigging AppleBee’s(way over her head) running a high end steak joint for some ungodly reason. Ruth have you been eating to much hot sauce up there in the dirt Nola? Someone better get here from corporate ASAP before dumb dumb and the side item gremlins wreck this million dollar party before it even gets started. I mean really… It’s a Ruth Chris people. Fix it.

So I’m not big on «chain» establishments but Ruth’s is one of the exceptions… well maybe this one. Their happy hour is setting the bar for others with attentive staff.
