This restaurant IS closed. The owner decided it was time to retire and his son had other interests rather than the restaurant business. Too bad. I really enjoyed coming here and carrying out meals from time to time. They really took very good care of me when I asked for anything that wasn’t on the menu. If they had the ingredients for what was on one of their other menus, they made if for me. However that being said, a lot of the times, the requested condiments were missing and depending on who was cooking or what time of day it was, the portions were different, but as I mentioned, I was WELLTAKENCAREOFEVERYTIME, especially if the proprietor was present. He was da bomb. I loved him even though he was short on words(how he stayed so slim was beyond me considering how great the gyros were that his restaurant served). I loved their Greek food, although I had to watch my salt intake and my portion control because they always gave me huge amounts of everything, so my visits became infrequent towards the closing of the restaurant. No one could match their steak fries either! They were to die for! I was hoping for the opening of a new location, but there isn’t one, so I wonder if the whole family moved back to Greece. Every December the restaurant closed for a whole month because the family took off to go to «home» to visit family. Now, they are probably living there and not thinking about old Majestic in St. Louis at all. I remember the pretty young server with the Ramones t-shirt and wondered if she had a baby and moved to Greece a long time ago.

I was very sad this place closed. It was our breakfast place. Does anyone know where the staff went? Especially Lela?

Pretty good diner if you are looking for a quick bite. Pretty small, but never too crowded.

Had dinner there 2 nights ago. Without a doubt the worst food in years. Ordered roast beef sandwich with extra gravy. Gravy was cafeteria style and cold. Wife had steak sandwich wi small dinner salad. Cook must have run out of oil because dressing tasted all vinegar. Defiantly will not go back. Negative recommendation to all I know

The Majestic’s chicken-fried steak breakfast is the best value breakfast in St. Louis. Delicious chicken-fried steak on a king-sized bed of sausage gravy, two eggs, toast, and breakfast potatoes all for $ 7.99. This could be all it served and I would still give it five stars. But the breakfast environment at this place is ideal. The coffee flows freely as locals pack in to get the solid, if no nonsense, omelets. For a cheap, delicious breakfast, Majestic is hard to beat in the CWE.

The only thing positive I can write is about is the service – prompt and friendly. Everything else was just gross. I understand and can even appreciate the ‘dive’ moniker a place can earn, but this place takes it too far. I ordered pecan pancakes and I had to force them down. No amount of butter, jelly or their cheap syrup could make them more edible. After a few days, I was relieved that I didn’t get a food-borne illness from eating here.

I work in the Central West End now, so I’m on a mission to try all the places in the area. Similar to other reviewers, I had seen the tables packed for breakfast so I thought they must be good. Well, I went with a coworker for dinner and sadly, not so good. She got the Beef Garlic Cheese Sandwich and said the meat had a weird texture, the gravy was kinda nasty, and overall pretty flavorless. The mediocre steak cut fries were the«best» part of her meal. I got the chicken kabobs with veggies and rice, which was bland and flavorless. It’s been a long time since I’ve utilized the salt and pepper shakers that much while out at a restaurant. I guess I can say I’ve checked them off my list, but I probably won’t be going back. On a positive note, we were seated quickly, and our server was nice.

This was my first time visiting and I LOVED it. Unilocal Reviews suggested trying the Bill’s Special. I’m not a big omelette fan but I decided to try it anyway and I absolutely loved it. Seriously. Perfect amount of feta. The gyro meat was perfect and the tomatoes and onions added just the right kick to it. I prefer the sliced potatoes at Majestic to the usual hash browns too. This place will definitely become a fav of mine.

This place oozes comfort from every nook and cranny. There is a reason it’s been around for over 50 years. They treat you like you’re a regular and have a wide selection of delicious, authentic greek inspired and meaty delights. I’ve only been for breakfast, and can honestly say that if you have a hangover in the Central West End, there is no better place to go. The Gyro Omlette was my selected cure. We’ll be back at some point this fall to check out the lunch and dinner goodies.

After seeing the tables packed for breakfast I figured this place had to have some delicious breakfast food! I was wrong and made the mistake of ordering a waffle with bacon!!! I figured I couldn’t go wrong! My bacon was cold and my waffle was thick, heavy, grainy, and not very tasteful! I was completely disappointed! On the flip side the gyro was pretty good and you can’t go wrong with that when your at a Greek restaurant!

Came here for lunch and ordered a Gyro with feta. The food came out quickly. Atm: this place is a hidden little diner located among fancier or quicker eats on the CWE area. Dining experience was definitely casual, with a mixture of different people here and décor. Anyone ever notice the random Darth Vader mask on the ceiling? Food: Food was good, but I’m not an expert on greek food. I liked it and it’s better than other places I’ve tried. The onions were plentiful allowing me to have onion breath for the rest of the day. Normal gyro without the fancy feta is about 5.99 not including tax. I ended up getting Gyro with feta and after tax it was about 8.78. The sauce, I forgot what it was called, was creamy but I felt like it was on the runnier side compared to other places I’ve been, but don’t forget I’m no expert. Would I come here again? It is possible, I went here mostly because I wanted some pita and some gyro meat. So if I get the craving again I know where to go.

We should have read ALL the reviews!!! I do NOT recommend!!!(ALLERGYALERT!) My family & I were visiting family at the hospital and after quickly looking at some reviews, we decided to try Majestic. Bad choice! After looking at the large menu, each of us in our party(4) picked something different. Food came and was ok. The meat was dry and lacking portion size! We ordered onion rings because they said they were homemade. At the time, we did not know they cooked them with their fried fish. We had to ask 3 times before the waitress would even attempted to find out. I am very allergic to fish/seafood. At the end of our meal, while my throat was swelling shut, I kindly mentioned to the waitress that she should talk with the management & owner to have them separate their fried sides(french fries, onion rings, ect) and fry them in separate deep fat friers. We were told it was OUR fault for not knowing and she didn’t care. This waitress was«flip» the entire time before this also. She acted like she was«too good» for us. She isn’t! We will NEVER return!!! The pictures do NOT show the REAL food you get! They look good… that was one reason we decided to go there. But they are VERY deceving! You don’t get what you see! Prices are High for little food!!! Do NOT recommend!!!

This hidden gem gives me majestic wood. Figuratively. This was a difficult review for me to write. I have a hard time explaining why a place like this is 5 stars for me, because it’s not a 5-star restaurant. Nostalgia is mostly at play here, but also an appreciation for a solid, no-frills, family-run diner. I have a deep loathing for the Central West End. This restaurant’s location there is probably why this place has a low Unilocal rating. It seems out of place amidst trendy restaurants, fast-paced cocktail bars, the young and happening, parallel parking speed, and expectation of perfection floating around the bourgie neighborhood. Majestic may move at a slower-than-CWE pace, but they compensate by burning the midnight oil. Worn booths and a cozy vibe make you feel at home, and we were warmly greeted multiple times by Papa Majestic. The menu was deep and offered classic Greek fare, with a healthy portion of burgers and American food. It was slightly overpriced(they charged 2 bucks to add feta to my gyro– almost 11 bucks total for a gyro and a few fries). The food was disappointing, but good enough. Rough around the edges, some shortcuts were definitely taken, and the meat in my gyro was tough and overcooked, but the flavor was outstanding. I loved the mix of people milling about in here. It wasn’t noisy or stressful, and the laid back vibe made me feel like I could be myself, which I usually can’t be in the Central West End. Some things are never as good as we remember. Some things gain fondness with the momentum of aging. And then you go to a place like this and think that maybe your childhood was every bit as good as you remember it being.

Descriptive word: diner. Majestic is a diner, and I mean that in a loving way. Three friends and I went here for brunch this past Sunday morning, in my attempt to check off as many CWE locales as possible. Majestic is a little Greek restaurant that sits on a busy corner in the CWE, surronded by the hospital and other great eats as well. The entrance is a tiny little doorway that opens into an immediately crowded first room. I could tell as soon as I walked in that this place is a local’s kind of retreat. The place was packed full of every age and demographic you could imagine. We were ushered over by an old Greek man behind a counter while he simultaneously checked another customer out. We slid past tables and booths on our way to our own booth in the second dining area. Here there was a TV and a full bar as well. The decorations in the place were haphazard, though appeared to have at one time actually been Greek-themed and lost their way. Not distracting, but definitely funny(such as a Darth Vader head hanging next to the TV screen). My girlfriend ordered Bill’s Special Omelete(~$ 8), which came with toast and potatoes. Delicious, filled with feta cheese, greens, and gyro meat. Get it. I had the Chicken-Fried Steak, also with toast and potatoes(~8). The steak was GIANT and well-fried. The gravy that came was fantastically paired, though oddly hidden under the giant piece of meat. Our service was fast, our food was bountiful and filling, and the price was right. No complaints whatsoever, but also would not necessarily recommend if you’re up for going other places in the area.

a family run restaurant that seems to have a lot of regulars. it is a diner so don’t expect authentic greek cuisine or anything too fancy. pros– cheap plenty of space outdoor seating in the middle of the CWE makes for great people watching open 7 days/week almost 24hours; 6am-1:30(hard to come by in St Louis) TVs where people seem to hang out and watch sporting events etc

St. Louis time-warp dining– This place, like the now closed(and demolished) Parkmoor, the closed(and empty) Layton’s, etc., seems like it has changed little over the last four or five decades. We have been here for family brunches over the years and everyone has always been satisfied and had an enjoyable time. The brunch selection is decent diner fare and there is something for both young and old on the menu. But it is the unpretentious atmosphere and economical price that really makes the experience fun, especially with a large group. We used to visit the Parkmoor, Layton’s and the Majestic on a regular basis for family brunches, sadly we now have only the Majestic left. If you want to experience what St. Louis diner dining was like 40 years ago this is a place you must visit before it is gone!

Memorial Day is tomorrow and the restaurant we planned to go to was closed, then the second choice restaurant was closed too. I just wanted a quick lunch, so we settled for Majestic. The restaurant has a dingy diner feel with a Greek flare or at least a small«Greek» inspired menu section. Our waitress was strictly business… she was having lunch too while we were there. I went with the small Greek Salad with Chicken Gyro Sandwich and the hubby went with the American Cheese Burger Deluxe with steak fries. The food came out FAST, salad first. My meal apparently also came with garlic bread, not very good garlic bread tho. The«small» Greek salad was HUGE and was over doused with oily dressing. The salad was not fresh, cool and crisp like a good salad would be. There was too much dressing. The lettuce was starting to wilt which made me think it had been marinating in the dressing for some time. Careful on those Kalamata olives, they have pits! My Gyro looked good, but after a few bites I noticed it was lightly pink but I couldn’t tell if that was the juice from the tomato or if it was undercooked meat. I didn’t care for their tzatziki sauce either. The hubby’s hamburger came with fries and a lot of creamy coleslaw. I tried a bite of coleslaw and it was NOT cold. It was F’in disgusting, the mayo sauce was not seasoned at all and was practically melting and tasted grosser than gross. A creamy coleslaw needs to be cold! I wasn’t even half way done when I started to have an upset stomach. I don’t know weather to blame it on the excessive amounts of dressing high in fat and oil, the possibly raw meat in my gyro, or the lack of proper refrigeration of the coleslaw. Any meal that give me an upset stomach for over an hour is not a place I will ever go to again. Next time I won’t settle.
