Popped in here for brunch last weekend and was really pleasantly surprised by Strawberry, Orange, and Blueberry French Toast. After having that, my friend and I left the restaurant feeling completely satisfied. French toast: It was made up of a tower of four large pieces, covered with a light fruit glaze and surrounded by blueberries and sliced strawberries. The best part was the chocolate whipped cream sitting around the base of the tower. It was completely delicious. The cream was soft and fluffy, but the flavor was of this rich milk chocolate. Combine that with the maple syrup, and you have one of the most decadent french toast dishes that I have had, which still managed to not be too sweet or overwhelming(it was balanced out by the fruit). CWE Omelette: The second dish we had was this basic omelette. To me, it met my expectations for an omelette by most standards. Compared to the french toast, there wasn’t anything about it that particularly stood out. One definite downside was that it didn’t come with any sides! Pretty unusual for an omelette dish. The atmosphere was clean and nice, and the restaurant was crowded, but we didn’t have to wait. The service was average, nothing exceptional especially compared with my other experiences dining in St. Louis. Favorite: Strawberry, Orange, and Blueberry French Toast!!!

This is our new FAVORITE restaurant! Located in Central West End on Euclid. We had two appetizers – 3 little pigs:(braised pork belly, maple-bourbon bacon, Gamlin Cajun bacon, seasonal pickles, seasonal jams, sourdough) - And the toasted ravioli:(stuffed with beef tips, spinach, cream cheese, garlic, onions with tomato-basil cream sauce)…then ordered blackened salmon pasta and steak tips pasta. A carnival on my tastebuds!!! This is perfect food! FRESH!

4.5 We had lunch the other day here! I am surprised we never been here before. The décor is nice and modern. Service is friendly. Child friendly. Parking is over the street. Definitely wanna go back for the brunch ! Food: Lobster bisque — super delicious. Rich and creamy. Perfect for a cold day Grilled chicken breast — Yummmmmm. one of my favorite grilled chicken dishes. The tomato and basil sauce adds a delicious flavor. Highly recommended Golden trout. Delicious. The secret is in the sauce too. Love the veggies selection.

Incredible addition to the CWE Euclid Ave. strip. I’ve been here before, but went with a group of friends to enjoy some whiskey and conversation. Jeremy, our server, was intelligent beyond belief about the hundreds of whiskeys and drinks on their menu. What was supposed to be a chill round of drinks turned into an epic whiskey tasting, sampling various styles and even whiskeys brewed specifically for this location. Trust me, it wasn’t the alcohol involved — this place is gold! Left off 1 star due to their lack of vegetarian options for food. We got hungry and shared a cheese plate, but wish there had been more to choose from.

Pro: Great food and drinks!!! I wandered to Gamlin after a bout of Sunday football at Bar Louie with the intention of healing my wounds; after all, nobody snatches defeat from the jaws of victory quite like my Tampa Bay Bucs! What started out as a melancholy day of football defeat turned out to be a refreshing surprise that my taste buds are still thanking me for! Bartender Thomas was very knowledgeable on the vast array of whiskeys available, and he pointed me in the direction of a Johnny Drum Bourbon that was simply marvelous! As I slowly sipped this superior hooch, two appetizers caught my eye: the Mussels and the«Three Little Pigs». The zesty, Andouille-based broth of the mussels alone was with its weight in gold, while the variety of bacons on the Three Little Pigs made me very greedy and not want to share! GREATSTUFF! Con: A bit pricey, but still worth it! Bottom Line: I know that giving a 5-star to a place solely on drinks and appetizers may be a bit zealous, and I’m okay with that! Something tells me that the next visit and the exploration of the rest of the menu won’t disappoint!

Oh Gamlin Whiskey House, I so wanted to give you five stars for your brunch this morning just like everyone else does. That was before our food came. I will say that the orange juice was exceptional. Our son is visiting us from South Carolina where we have lived for twenty-seven years before moving back home to St. Louis. We had previously looked at their brunch menu and it really looked good. I guess it depends on what you order. We ordered biscuits and gravy, shrimp and grits, Apple French toast and chicken fried steak. The French toast was good and I thought the biscuits and gravy was quite tasty. The problem was with the other two dishes. I don’t understand why Midwestern restaurants try to make southern food. Unless you have your Momma’s recipes from the south, it’s not going to work out. My chicken fried steak was served with a little gravy over hash browns with a fried egg. Hash browns and egg was very good. The steak has been pounded so thin that by the time it was breaded and fried, you could not tell that there was any meat in there. My son was quite disappointed with his shrimp and grits. The consistency was more like soup. He said it needed a little more ham in it. And the poor shrimp were grilled, not traditionally breaded and fried. As I said before, I guess it depends on what you order. But I don’t think it should be that way for a restaurant.
