Love this place. Beloved by the local rock scene. Parking could be better, but you should expect street parking anyway. Get there early for the shows! Bob is a great bartender. Staff is friendly. Accommodating to all bands who play. Will return soon

Playing a show here tonight. The stage is nice, the sound guy james is rad, and so far so good! Great venue to see shows :)

The owner, the alcohol selection, the staff, the extra music equipment, head shop paraphernalia, the duel rooms and the ambiance are reasons to come to the venue besides the bands I love to see AND I GETTOTALKANDHANGOUTWITHMOSTNATIONALACTSWITHOUTTHEHASSLE! Been going their for years. feels like High School should have been!

Worst concert venue in St Louis. Terrible acoustics, everything seems dirty, the room has a smell to it. Oh and theres no lighting except the stage lighting, so between sets youre in darkness. I know a specific local band whos played here a few times, they have said they actually feel bad asking people to come see them play there. And i dont know much detail but Ive heard they treat bands pretty crappy unless they are national. and even then, the soundguy has no idea what hes doing. normally a soundcheck takes more than 30 seconds… As far as the bar goes, be prepared to pay 7 bucks for a mixed drink out of a plastic cup. The bartender is a cool dude though

The first venue I’ve veer seen that doubles as a guitar accessories shop, the wall over the bar is filled with strings and whatnot, definitely unique. This place is everything I expected it to be, capable of holding two shows at once but only one stage in use tonight. Decent beer selection for a rock venue, rude door staff(a plus in my book), attentive bartenders, and cool vibe if you’re at the right show. I don’t think they quite know what to do with the very back of the place, feels like carpenter grandad’s basement. I shall return.

Went to Fubar some months back to play a show, finally getting around to writing a review. Bring your earplugs to this place, folks. The sound guy didn’t seem to understand how to balance the sounds of any of the bands, and didn’t seem to grasp the notion that if you’ve got the mains cranked SOLOUDTHATPEOPLEARELEAVINGINDROVES, that that is BAD. Really, this went for most of the bands that were playing that night as well. Too bad, really. If I were the owner I would not have been happy about losing the business. Oh well, maybe it was just the particular soundman that night, not sure.

I’ve played this venue 3 times now and I still don’t know how to pronounce Schlafly. Everyone on the staff is like your cool older brother that showed you who the misfits were and let you smoke cigarettes when mom wasn’t home. There’s always good beer on tap and almost always a show going on in both rooms, it’s like a BOGO deal on your favorite cereal at the grocery store. This place is definitely bad ass and has a welcoming feeling. So if you live around here and don’t come see Eyehategod and 7 seconds, they’ll hunt you down and take away your denim vest.

Filthy. I don’t expect most music venues to be very clean, but I question if the floor has ever been cleaned. Acoustics aren’t good. Won’t go there unless friends are playing.

I hate going with the grain. As far as music is concerned, Midtown has established itself as the place to be. Touring bands that aren’t big enough to play the Pageant have started to flock to venues in this area of town. For the metal/punk crowds, Fubar is more than likely the destination. I have mixed feelings about this venue. Personally, I don’t find myself there on too many occasions, but sometimes a band find its way to this club. However, I’m not sure that it’s fair to assess it on the style of music that it brings in. For the most part, I don’t have a desire to see show at Fubar. Needless to say, I’m never jovial when I do head there. Nonetheless, it does have its pluses. I like how the venue can be split into two. On Saturday, we went to see a local punk band, and they had another show on the other stage. Also, I have never had bad service any of the times that I’ve come to see something. The bartender have been pretty cool. And they sell band gear at the venue! I’ll have to keep that in mind the next time I bust a string or need a strap. In other words, I don’t exactly hate coming to Fubar, but it doesn’t completely ring my bell either. More times than not, I would rather be down the street at Firebird. However, if you’re a fan of metal or punk, you might have found your new StL home!

Fubar is the place I always go when I want to see the best shows, Metal or Punk. Their are two rooms, the big room the sound is great. Many times I have been their the bands have even commented on the sound. Lighting is not great but then that is not the most important thing to me. The smaller room has a real DIY feel to it which is cool. Much smaller PA but, still comes across sounding good. Times I have been their they could have actually turned down a little. Drink prices are great and they have pretty much stayed the same since they’ve been open. Bartenders are nice as well as having a couple of pretty hot tattooed girls behind the bar. The staff is great. They take care of issues quickly with no macho bullshit. I love Fubar. It has that corner tavern feel but is definitely not a corner tavern.

I’ve been here before for a going away party and as a space with a bar, it was good for that but this night it was very apparent the acoustics are so bad that it doesn’t matter who plays here, if you go, you are not going to hear the best music, you are going to hear music you really want to hear(a band you are crazy about). It is what it is.

«Meh» indeed. I have been here twice now and both times it really sucked. The employees were nice but that’s not my gripe – it’s the sound/acoustics. Not really the best place for a venue. :-(Also it can be kind of impossible to find a parking spot around here but thankfully the show I went to was on a Monday night so it wasn’t a huge deal. But yeah… they have a bar in the very back but it’s insanely small. I never ordered any drinks so I can’t comment on the price. The bathroom was pretty nasty but no surprise there, lol. Really, it’s just the acoustics that blow.

Good place for shows. The venue’s pretty nice, and bar side shows are all right. On occasion, it seems like there’s a little noise competition in the bar if the venue door is open. Drinks aren’t too expensive, which is nice. It’s also an interesting place to people watch. Something about Fubar just keeps me from really liking it.

Ive been coming here for a while and this venue is pretty decent. The people who work at the venue are pretty nice and are willing to help you out. The music is very very diverse. They are mainly hard rock ot heavy metal mostly but can have different genres of music booked. Sometimes they will book two shows in one night! Pretty neat. The prices of admission to these shows vary but really reasonable for the most part. They will go to 10 – 12 of they have national acts play. I give this venue a thumbs up.

Dual rooms. The room to the right is for the bands. Deep enough for the bass waves to carry & narrow enough to keep the energy up… I wish they would turn the base up & treble down. The back area is for 21 up w/plenty of tables(even one for pool), but I was allowed to drink everywhere(few people this night). The sound of the band was actually the best sitting on the booths in the back because the highs was absorbed & the bass carried and was not cancaled out. Now to the redrum, sorry red room, the smaller room to the left was quieter and more for hanging out. They tried to play different music, but the speakers in the other room were not directional enough and the sound carried through the door or they did not have equivalent sound… I miss the Other World & Sanctuary. Sorry, they need to invest in different speakers or noise canceling speakers for better separation so they can have two draws or atleast a true break. I honestly got annoyed here. The speakers aimed back @ the band had good sound & carried to the other room– I would put up a sound asorbing curtain on that side of the stage & on the wall. Put some woofers under the middle part of the stage for bass on the dance floor… Try switching the polarity on one the woofer speakers… Hire a true sound engineer! SORRY, I am not an expert but even I could walk around & hear the problems. Saint Louis needs small music venues like this & I really liked the layout, bands & attitude– but this is about music which is sound.

I’m not gonna bash this place since I’ve only been here once. The staffs nice enough and the prices are reasonable. The only thing I didn’t like was the crowd. Until the last band, everyone really just sat/stood in back like the band had herpes or something. Although I think it was just because the bands weren’t all that big and so not many people showed up. It’s probably better with bigger bands.

I went to see a show at FUBAR, and boy, was it a letdown. There are two main things that make FUBAR a terrible music venue, I’ll go into each one: [1] The space itself is just poorly setup, plain and simple. Two long, thin sections, one a live music space, and the other a standard bar. The bar section is completely unremarkable, and the drinks aren’t nearly as stiff as they should be. The venue space is a DISASTER. The show I saw had the band’s equipment lined up on the side of the room… it screamed, «You’re about to see some crappy, unprofessional bands.» Whic leads me to my next point… [2] The bands that frequent FUBAR are mostly terrible. Not like, «I don’t care for this band’s sound,» but more like, «This band is barely proficient enoough to play their instruments.» I came to find out later that the main reason for this is that most of the shows are booked by a guy named Mike Judy, and he run a straight-up PAY-TO-PLAY scam. For those of you unfamiliar with a P2P scam, it involves Mike renting FUBAR for the night, then booking 5 new and eager bands to play. Each band has to sell 30 tickets at $ 7 a piece, and they only keep $ 2 per ticket. This means that Mike pays a few hundred to rent the place out, and makes back a gaurunteed $ 750. As you can imagine, this leads to a bunch of well meaning but untalented teenagers on stage. It sucks for them, but it also sucks for you, because that’s what you have to listen to. So, if you can, avoid this place. Hell, even the owner is an asshat.

This place rocks. Two sides for your enjoyment. One side with a stage so you can hear live music, and another side to hide on if the band sucks. Pool jukebox and some old video games. It’s like a home away from home. On my birthday it was me and thirty of my closest friends, had no problems at all. Would totally do it again.

A pleasant suprise among the overplayed venues in St. Louis, Fubar spins a vibe all it’s own. With only a wall between them, Fubar consists of a lounge and venue with suprisingly opposite atmospheres. The lounge features an unusually lit bar with pool table and arcade game to keep you personally engaged. The venue space consists of ample elbow room, a perfectly angled bar and unusually high, but notable ceilings. I enjoyed the two person bar tables located in the back. Air is thinner and view is better. An increasingly popular establishment, enjoy the experience while you can.
