Gorgeous. Amazing palace. Trouble is it was made to show movies, but they pull it off, mostly. The seats are uncomfortable. Without binoculars, it is hard to see the performers unless you are in the first 25 rows. We like going there, but we do not love going there. Funny that we get better and less expensive seats on Broadway in New York. This place is a perfect tourist attraction. As I said, it is as beautiful as a building can get– a work of art.

Great venue with an opulent historical décor. I love that the seats along the outer aisles are less expensive and I prefer to sit there.

Wonderful venue in which to catch a Broadway show! We saw WICKED during the Christmas season and the foyer was decorated beautifully. I just bought tickets to return there again this month to see BEAUTIFUL!

What an amazingly beautiful and classic theatre to see a show. They sure don’t make them like this anymore do they? I saw Riverdance here and it was great. The staff is helpful and kind, bar service can be a little slow. They have a nice photo booth that takes 6 pictures(B&W, Sepia or Color) for $ 5. Food options are almost non-existent except for a few small snacks so grab a bite before you head in.

Walking in to the Fox is like transforming back in to another time. The lobby is almost overwhelming in beauty and prepares you for the the actual theater, which is itself is a work of art. Gold leafing that you would expect in Europe or perhaps Boston, not in the midwest. The acoustics of the actual theater are fabulous and there is not a bad seat in the house. There is a parking garage around the corner from the theater making it easy to get in and out. I also suggest going to the attached café/bar next to the Fox for an after dinner dessert and drink. I recommend the truffles but do not suggest the macaroons.

An absolute treasure. We’ve seen several shows here and have found the theatre to be ridiculously lovely and our seats to be spacious and comfortable. I’ve been to several theatres of this era that have been restructured to pack in more seating, which means I was unable to fit my legs in front of my seat, but thankfully this is NOT the case here. We went to one of the $ 10 tours on Saturday morning and had a completely magical experience. I can’t recommend this highly enough! The tour guide gave us great information about the history of the place and we go to see cool backstage areas including the murals from each show, the old projector, and the stunning views from the stage itself.

The Fabulous Fox Theatre, as its sometimes known in St. Louis, is just that. Fabulous. I have a special place in my heart for the Fox because it is an absolutely magical theater. From the second you see the giant light up letters outside it’s entrance to when you enter the main lobby and see its grand architecture and rich color and history to when you sit in the theater and look up to the ceiling so high above covered in rich frescoes and paintings that would make even Michelangelo nod in approval, it takes your breath away. That’s the Fox Theatre. The Fox is even more special to me because up until just a few years ago, my aunt and uncle were responsible for decking and un-decking the Fox at Christmas time and what a production it was. I was never home in time for the decorating, but I was home for the undecorating after Christmas and as such, I got to see all kinds of otherwise off-limits parts of the theater collecting all the bows, trees, wreaths and ornaments all over the Fox. I got to see the swanky Fox Club where people go for a drink or dinner before the show, climb into the upper balconies and alcoves to take down wreaths and pine roping hung high, and even go into the little area over the main entrance doors where Santa and his sleigh and presents were to bring them down after another year of waving to guests. And the bows, so many hundreds of bows with hundreds of bow loops that all needed to be stuffed individually to preserve the fluffiness of the bows. Whew! It was certainly a day or two of hard work, but at the same time it was so much fun getting to see a different side of one of the most historical landmarks still in St. Louis. The most recent show I attended at the Fox was«Wicked» when I was last home for Christmas. We arrived just as the first act was starting — parking was harder to find than expected, but as usual, the scenery was gorgeous. And on stage the multiple scenes on the stage were amazing — so intricate and beautiful, and the team running the show as well as the cast was wonderful. The whole production was fantastic and brought back such good memories. I can only imagine how it must have been to go see movies in this magnificent theater once upon a time. If you’re ever in St. Louis and something in the Fox’s lineup looks good, please, by all means, buy a ticket and go. You won’t be disappointed.

Seeing a show at the Fox Theatre is like going on a date with somebody so attractive that your brain cannot register a single thing that they say. After the date you think they are cool, but you don’t really know, because all you can think about is how drop-dead gorgeous they are. Seriously. Seeing a show at this theater is like hanging the Mona Lisa on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Art on art. There are no words to describe how gloriously beautiful, ornate, and FABULOUS this place is. I have never seen such a glorious work of architecture that wasn’t a church. Going to a show here would be the ULTIMATE romantic date. AMEN!!!

Just saw Wicked at this theater on Wednesday night. The theater in itself is just beautiful. We are so glad we came early to make sure we were able to see all of it. The show was fabulous and we will be back again. This theater is a must see when in St Louis!

First time here, and it was stunning! I’m not a frequent theater patron, but we decided to be spontaneous and buy tickets to Wicked. I don’t have a wealth of experience in this realm, so my baseline for comparison isn’t very substantial. The venue and the show was over-the-top spectacular. I definitely left inspired to come again. I’d love to come back at a slower time to snap some photos. Parking was $ 10 and it was a slow process leaving. Other than that, the experience was flawless.

The Fox Theater boasts some of the most impressive architecture and stunning detail in the St. Louis region. Watching any show at this venue is a real treat, if you can tear your eyes away from the ornate ceiling. The seats are surprisingly comfortable, and you can hear well from any seat in the house. I love going to The Fox and will continue to frequent this gem for many years to come.

I went to see a show this past weekend at the Fox, and loved the venue(and the show)! The décor inside is stunning and ornate, and had an old but elegant feel. I could stare up at the ceiling all day! The seats are also pretty comfy too, so that’s a plus. Overall, it was streamlined process getting to my seat, with knowledgable and kind ushers to help out. I would definitely recommend coming here and checking this place out!

I’m giving this 1 star for the treatment of their volunteers. Yes people, this is a for-profit establishment and the ushers are volunteers. They treat them worse than paid employees. It amazes me that people continue to volunteer for them. The Fox assumes the position that their volunteers should feel privileged that they are allowed to volunteer there. Come on Fox owners! Change the volunteer atmosphere. They are volunteers. Taking their time out to make you money.

Had an awesome time watching Kinky Boots here with my mom-in-law! Only complaint– HORRIBLE parking situation. Even all the handicap spaces were taken so that was a no go.

We were invited to a concert for Edward Jones client which included soda and snacks. It would be my first time to the Fox and only the second or third time for Dan. Since the event was on a Sunday we parked on the street at the metered parking and walked a block to the Fox. Upon entering the lobby to the theater we were greeted by friendly staff members who offered to help us in whatever capacity we needed. I was immediately blown away by how ornate and beautiful it was. Decorated tastefully for the holidays, you could still see all the architecture and detail work of the lobby. Our friends suggested we walk around and even go upstairs to see the live organist that was playing. Dan and I began exploring which every floor was as beautiful and inviting as the last. We made our way to Peacock Alley which displayed all the prior seasons of the Fox which was really neat to learn about. Finding our seats was incredibly easy thanks to the nice staff at the Fox. Normally sitting on the sides at a theater causes sight issues for the audience but the Fox is very well set up and we had no problem seeing the entire stage. The concert featured the Saint Louis Philharmonic Orchestra and the Dave Bennett Quintet. Both sets were excellent and made for a very pleasant and relaxing afternoon. Leaving the theater was also easy as there was a side door to exit into the street. I would highly recommend seeing a show at this historical theater. Happy reading! Denise

Greatest place to watch a musical or opera. Seriously, the beautiful interior alone is worth the price of admission. All the scale and grandeur one expects from 1920s decadence. It can be pricey, but I’ve never been to a bad show here and have never gone away feeling cheated. Their concessions have beer and wine available and some basic snacks for the lobbies. Everything you need to enjoy the music! I’ve only been to one concert here, and it was pretty awesome. The opening act didn’t have the Fox’s acoustics mastered and sounded like they were playing to small bar, basically muddled and barely audible — thus not great. However, any blame I may have placed on the theater vanished when the main artist came on. The acoustics were fantastic and everything was visible on stage. Ended an amazing concert. The only problem: I’m used to walking around during concerts, going up front, or lingering in the back. Being stationery in my assigned seat felt a little odd. This is a non-issue for musicals/operas, just a(very) minor annoyance I had at the show.

The Fabulous Fox is always an incredible treat. A few Saturdays ago was Prairie Home Companion. Amazing. The Fox foyer is elegant, the lighting fixtures are stupendous, the ticket-takers are generous and friendly. And the ushers help you find your destination. Our seats were lower left, but not too far left. We could see everything, with no heads in the way. The show was great fun, interactive and funny. It was, indeed, a fabulous evening.

It took me years to get to the Fox Theatre. Not to get around to going — I was ready at any time. When I was a kid from the suburbs, though, I’d been everywhere but the Fox. When I finally saw a show there at 15, I was in awe. I’ve been there more than ten times since, and I am just as impressed with each visit. I would love to see a movie at this former movie palace. I’ve had the pleasure of sitting a mere three rows from the stage and in the back row in the upper balcony. In my opinion, some shows are best seen on the ground level(like Wicked — there is flying). If you’re familiar with the show, though, or aren’t super excited about going, the balconies should be just fine. I’ve not been to a concert at the Fox yet. Go exploring! It’s a beautiful place.

When you go to the theatre, it’s for something special. Fox Theatre creates an atmosphere that is beyond special — it’ll truly take your breath away! Last weekend I got to check a big item off my life bucket list and surprise my dad for a Garrison Keillor Prairie Home Companion show. I’m so glad I waited to tell him what we were doing until he saw the marquis outside! The outside of the theatre provides a small glimpse as to how beautiful the inside is. Ornate. That’s the word for everything here. Every detail in lighting, ceiling structure, etc. Even if you’re not that excited about attending an event here, you will be just for the ambiance. Garrison mentioned something about this theatre being preserved through the Great Depression so I looked it up and the theater opened on January 31, 1929 and was reportedly the second-largest theater in the United States. It was one of St. Louis’s leading movie theaters through the 1960s and has survived to still be held in high regard. Hellloooo history geek Sarah! I’m so excited to read more about it before I get to go back. Parking was pretty easy to find. We arrived 45 minutes before the show and snabbed a spot in a $ 10 lot across the street!

This is such a beautiful theater. There is what I would call bad seating, especially in the upper balconies. The people in stage will look very tiny. As far as sound the quality is fantastic. They have a good arrangement of shows something for everyone every year. There season ticket packages seem reasonable. I will come here anytime I see a show I’m interested in.
