My husband and I stopped here for lunch with two teenagers in tow. We enjoyed the atmosphere. Definitely family friendly. I strongly recommend getting a float. Many selections to choose from. Price is $ 5.99 and they are big enough for two to share. My daughter got the bottomless root beer so she could try several flavors. She found them all to be pretty sweet. I had a chicken sandwich with bacon and cheese which was tasty. The fries weren’t bad. We spent more than we normally would have for lunch but felt like it was a must do while visiting St Louis. We enjoyed walking in some of the nearby shops in the Loop. We used on street metered parking and two hours was plenty of time to visit.

My family was in town visiting so went to Fitts for lunch around 1:30 pm. Our wait time was about 35 minutes for our party of six, I expected that since it was the weekend and this place is so popular. Luckily, we got sat within a clear shot of the bottling process. My sibling is 8 and was so amazed at watching everything. Our server was friendly and very attentive. She had soda refills on the table before we ever had to ask. I ordered the bottomless mug of cream soda, I will admit that I’ve had better, but it was still good. Our spinach dip appetizer came out fairly quickly which was great because we were starving. I expected our meals to take a long time to be delivered since the establishment was so busy, but they were out within 10 – 15 minutes of ordering. I ordered the Philly cheese steak, if I ever return I probably won’t order it again just because the bread seemed to get soggy and it was enjoyable to eat. My husband had the black n Bleu burger and he loved it. Overall, I was very pleased with this choice of dining. Every one in our party was satisfied with their meals and the service. Of course watching the bottling process was a really cool experience.

Neat atmosphere. Service was good. average at best food. The wife and I had the pulled pork dinner. Baked beans taste like canned bush baked beans. Root beer is home made… they probably should get out of the root beer business. The pork was ok.

Loved this place! We had a party of 6 and waited about 20 minutes for a table which was fine. We had already decided we were all going to get floats which was a great idea and… also a bad idea! Great, because each different one we ordered was delicious, but bad because they are HUGE and practically ruined our appetites! Lol. The floats are not to be believed. Massive amounts of soda and ice cream and SO many different combinations of house bottled soda. WOW! Our food arrived quite quickly which was nice and honestly I don’t think one of us complained, we were all very satisfied with the taste, temperature, portion size and flavor. My fish and chips was really good. Tender pieces of fish and a nice thin crunchy batter which I look for. Perfectly seasoned and definitely worth the price. My husband’s Porgy and Beef was a ton of food and very enjoyable, nice touch with crispy fried onions on top. My daughter loved the Sunny BLT which is a regular BLT with the addition of a nice over medium egg. Our waitress checked on us repeatedly and we were thrilled with the service we received. Definitely want to go back again, especially if we have visitors come into town. Worth the 30 minute drive for us to go.

Now a mom of a few littles, we took them(after the 4 hour drive south). Just as delish and they make a mean veggie burger that I highly recommend if you like spice and want to be full until your next birthday. Kid meals are large and my kids(which eat like birds), split one. With the kid’s meal comes bottomless soda. I don’t typically allow my kids to get soda, but this place is KNOWN for theirs… so when in Rome… I ordered the kids a fresh rootbeer at the end of our meal and ordered myself a float(which is topped with enough ice cream to load up theirs AND give me a belly ache). So order one float for the whole fam(seriously… good for a solid 4 people).

Pretty good food. I had the sunshine burger. The place wasn’t as big as the hype i read all over the internet but nonetheless good. I don’t think i will go out of my way to get there again but glad i got to see it first hand.

Such a fun atmosphere, but my burger and my kid’s chicken tenders were uneventful. The root beer did not disappoint however.

This place of course had an absolutely long wait on a Friday night but there’s lots of little shops around you can go walk around while you wait. I really love the fact that you can watch them bottle the sodas in the restaurant. Big fat burgers, delicious fries and the best soda. Great place

So, I think my wife is cursed to a point. The first time we went there was about three weeks ago. she ordered a steak salad and asked for the steak med rare. It came over-well done. Last nite, she ordered chili-mac, it came cold, and water in the bottom of the bowl. The waiter also was more concerned working the bar than us. Probably wont go back.

You need to get the pulled pork nachos. They are the best thing on the menu! If they have it, I also highly recommend a Kobe burger on a pretzel buns(they have the pretzel buns on and off). The root beer/root beer floats are amazing, but huge! This is the place we always take our own of town guests: for the food, environment, and location in The Loop. Parking is also easy with a lot right behind the restaurant. I’ve probably been here 10 times and I would say the service is always very good to excellent.

Oh my god this was so good. Feel guilty for going here but really good. Was a bit turned off at first by the host sitting the tables. Said there was a 15 minute wait but there was half of the tables open. But only took 5 minutes to get a table. Waitress was friendly and food was really good. But the root beer and floats are incredible. A gotta try.

Fantastic place to take kids for a meal and fun. My kids loved watching the machines and they loved the food. And the floats were great! Huge portions on everything. The turkey club was amazing. I was informed that the turkey is smoked on site and it was impressive. Our server was over the top. I was thoroughly impressed with everything from his patience with my kids(and all the amazing different flavor of drinks), to suggestions, and his entire demeanor. Everything was clean along with the restrooms. And the experience from walking in to walking out was a memorable one!

3.5 solid stars. This restaurant is a staple in Saint Louis; it is close to University City in Saint Louis. The restaurant itself is renown for serving craft root beer and other sodas which I thought was cool. Also if I remember correctly the sodas are bottled at this location. They are also known for their amazing root beer float that look like something that you’d need to share with your date. haha The menu offers a lot of choices when it comes to food. You can pick anything from burgers, to gumbo to gluten free food. Well you can’t come to Fitz’s Root beer and not order a root beer. If you like root beer you’d like the one from this place. I also ordered the Bottler’s burger which came with a side a fries and some sort of tartare sauce. The burger itself was really flavorful but the fries were dry. The service was good, our waiter was very nice and attentive. I had an overall great experience and would recommend it to anyone who is visiting Saint Louis.

This was a good place for family and a great game area up stairs with a bar. Kid friendly. The soda they make is real good. The root near bottomless mug was good. We had the pretzels and cheese for appetizer it was real good. Would highly recommend trying the place if you are in the area. Darci was our waitress and she was terrible!!! No personality and acted like it was a pain to wait on us!!!

Fitz’s is a classic, fun destination in the Loop. Expect a wait if you come with a large group on a Friday or Saturday night, but the burgers and ice cream floats will be good when you are finally seated. Visitors can view the bottling conveyor belt from the dining room which is neat. The second level of the restaurant is fun with a large bar, more tables for diners, arcade games, game tables, and TVs. Fitz’s is a really good family-oriented and non-family-oriented option in the Loop.

My girlfriend and I went for lunch October 7. She was craving meatloaf(which they don’t have) or a burger. Well, they’ve got plenty of burgers. Our server was quite friendly and attentive, watching our beverage consumption. Making sure everything was OK and that we didn’t need anything that wasn’t to our avail. She got iced tea and a patty melt, which comes with fries and Fitz’s own Kitchen Sauce. I got diet root beer($ 3.89 for an unlimited mug) and a Cobb salad(~$ 10): romaine and mixed greens with house-smoked turkey chunks, hardwood smoked bacon, hard-boiled egg, avocado, tomato and crumbled bleu cheese with bleu cheese dressing on the side. Fitz’s bleu cheese dressing is home-made. Exceptionally good. Very chunky. On the diet root beer, I’m certainly not an authority. But I like root beer. I’ve had diet A&W, Barq’s, Stewart’s, Dad’s and IBC. The only one I don’t like is Dad’s. Fitz’s diet root beer is very good. The Cobb salad was huge! I liked the addition of the avocado. And with the dressing on the side, I could just dab in to get a little, and didn’t have to douse the whole salad. The bacon was a little hard. The hard-boiled eggs were perfect. The turkey chunks weren’t chunks — they were small pieces and not too many of them, to the point I would call stingy. I would have liked more tomato, but I LOVE tomato. The crumbled bleu cheese was light, but I LOVE bleu cheese. She took home more than half of the patty melt and skipped the fries on the to-go vessel. I took home a lot of greens and a covered container of bleu cheese dressing. A couple more meals with some protein additions from the homestead.

A lovely environment for family and friends. We started with the fried pickles, they were delightful. Not too much batter with a thinly sliced pickle. I ordered the pulled pork platter and it was ok. I say that it was just ok because I didn’t realize that it was smothered in root beer bbq sauce and I am not a fan of root beer. My husband ordered the burger and he said it was good but huge. My kiddo ordered the grilled cheese and it was ok, I loved the healthy option sides. My sister ordered the fish and she said it needed seasoning. The environment and floats make this place. This is not for foodies but entertainment.

I’d really like to give 3.5 stars to Fitz’s. It’s a good value since portions are large and it’s fun to see the bottling in action, but the food quality is just okay. I wanted to bring my boyfriend here since he had never had Fitz’s root beer, so it’s something that everyone visiting STL should try at least once. Go in with the appropriate expectations and you won’t be disappointed.

I’m going to have to reduce my rating for this establishment because I did not have the best experience at all. My friend loves the place as he was dead set on coming. So, I decided to give this place another chance. Unfortunately, it was worse than before. When we walked in, we could not find a place in the bar and the place was packed with people. So, we put our names down and we were given a 25 minute wait. We waited in the lobby for at least 30 minutes and there were still 4 parties ahead of us in line. However, there were people that walked in and got seated a heck of a lot sooner. In addition, I am not sure if the AC system was working because that place was sweltering hot. I think they need to install blinds or something to stop a green house effect. So, we were finally able to get a spot in the bar and we gave back that ridiculous black puck back, which never turned on(wanted to throw that puck out of the window). Not sure what was up with the bartender but she was not happy at all to be there. In addition, the spot at the bar was not even cleaned so I sat there for 5 or 7 minutes at a very dirty spot. I ordered the chicken club sandwich and fries with a peanut butter and chocolate root beer float. The waitress served me the float a lot sooner than the food, which I had to eat up quickly because of the heat. I saw other waitresses carrying trays of floats and the ice cream was instantly starting to melt. It was a big sloppy mess. The bartender also never provided myself or my dining partner any utensils. The peanut butter and chocolate root beer float also came with a plastic spoon, which seemed unprofessional. Most decent dining establishments serve their confections with at least a metal spoon. The grilled chicken sandwich was ok, but they offered me no condiments and I had to ask for mayo which the bartender threw them at me on the table. The bacon also had hair on it. I paid $ 16 for the meal, but for my negative experience, it was very overpriced. I didn’t even tip the bartender and I usually tip my waiters at least 20 percent. I will not be coming back.

It had been many years since I visited Fitz’s, but went here with some out-of-town company the other day. Fitz’s is perfectly located in the Loop across from Blueberry Hill(where we would’ve gone if the line at Fitz’s was too long). This unique spot highlights some of the best of STL: toasted ravioli, those crazy sandwiches with the chili on them, and Kaldi’s coffee in cola form. Our service was good enough, but the speed, size, and value of the meals were phenomenal. You don’t always get this from a tourist-attraction restaurant, but maybe these traits also lend to Fitz’s being so popular. I’m pretty sure our entire table received the order within 10 minutes of placing it; the size of all of the food is humongous(if you consider that a good thing); and the price is definitely not gouging. STL and tourists — just do yourselves a favor and visit Fitz’s when you get a chance.
