Too many straight people. They had limited drink options. They seemed to be «out» of a lot of basic liquors. Nice space, but seemed a bit fratty… something that I hope to escape from at a gay bar. Maybe it was just the night. I went on a Friday.

The«VodBox» is a must! Freezer for doing vodka shots! How fun is that? Love the bartenders, they’re all so friendly. Tuesday is Showtunes Tuesday. What a blast, all broadway, musicals, Glee etc starting at 9. Add that with all you can drink for $ 12 and its certain to be a good time.

Paul the bartender was the kindest, most attentive, most charming bartender I’ve ever met. I definitely recommend an excursion into the shot freezer to try some unusual flavored. This is my favorite hangout in The Grove.

Loved this place! Stopped in on a recent visit to St Louis and it was one of my favorite bars! Great martinis — creative recipes. When you walk in, the bar has a great look and feel. And the CHILLROOM! WOW! A walk in freezer aka vodka tasting room! How cool! and how many vodkas? 100? Maybe more! The selection was crazy! Fun people and friendly crowd.

This was an alright bar and I can see how it meets the needs of many but it was a little loud for my taste. However it wasn’t all bad– they had beer in addition to the large supply of vodka. The vodka is stored in a walk in fridge, which is a fun way to do things. However my friends and I found it difficult to get the attention of the person who was taking people in to the fridge to buy shots.

I may be biased since my friend is friends with the owner but I love this place. From the moment I walked in my first time everyone was so nice. It was a dark, contemporary interior with lots of TVs and music playing. They were in the middle of remodeling when I was last there so the side room was full of paint and ladders. The outside is a fantastic atmosphere. Brick on the ground with a wooden bar and lots of tables and chairs. A great spot to be able to get away from all the chaos inside. If you go here, you NEED to go into the VodBox. It’s literally a walk in freezer where you get to choose from all of their vodkas and take a shot. It’s tons of fun to go in with a group of friends. Also, be sure to try one of their signature drinks. All posted on the wall and named after the rich and famous. When you are out and about in The Grove, be sure to stop by. You won’t regret it.

Ice cold décor and just as chilly a reaction from the staff. I think their customer service policy is «if we ignore them maybe they will go away. Best summation: Guy told us(after our mention that we were from Kansas City) was«well we’re not as glamorous as Kansas City». By comparison, I have to agree with this nascent sociologist.

After numerous over charges and price changes at each bar this place is ridiculous! Last time I was in my boyfriend and I asked for Jameson shots for 6 bucks a piece, we watched Glenn give us whatever was on rail. Get better bar tenders or At least honest ones.

This place isn’t half bad. My best friend was in town visiting me from Nashville, per his request, we hit up Ernie’s for some late night fun & scouting. Ernie’s is neat. They’ve got a freezer where you can pick out your vodka and take a shot while you’re in there. Option for $ 5, $ 6, or $ 7, their vodkas have an array of different flavors, and quality picks. I settled for a black cherry Van Gogh vodka shot. It was wonderful! I think it would be great for a mixer too. Smooth and sweet. And this info is coming from someone who can’t handle shots too well. That one worked just fine without the requirement of a chaser right after it. Bathroom is null. There is one. In the whole place… co-ed. This being a gay men’s bar, they should have a bathroom to accommodate the hags that join them! i.e. Me. All the bartenders are topless. Fit and topless, and absolutely delicious to look at. How unfortunate that they are batting on the same team as me … Oh well, eye candy it is. They have an outdoor bar and indoor bar. Dancing space with the dj spinning top 40 hits. Of course the ladies were hitting the dance floor while the guys mingled among each other. All in fun. I liked it. I will go again. However, I do not see much point in going unless I’ve got my sidekick there. He always makes it more fun when he is in town.

As far a late night spots go, Ernie’s is one of my favorites. Although it considered a gay bar, it has a mix of everyone there. Couples, bachelorettes(not too often so don’t worry!), guys, gals, a high energy crowd who isn’t afraid of a stripper pole. It’s a low stress destination for me as a straight gal so I don’t have to worry about creepy guys doing creepy things and can really let loose and have some good clean fun. The music is accompanied by videos which gives you something to watch and to dance to. The drinks are pretty typical but good and the pricing isn’t ridiculous but it isn’t cheap either. Ernie’s has an ice closet or something along those lines to enjoy vodka in its true form… near freezing. I have not had the pleasure of partaking of this little room but I have witnessed friends do it. They are braver than I. All around good time if you are into dancing, love poles and adore vodka.

Erney’s 32° is a bar located at the same intersection as Premium Lounge and Sanctuaria. Apparently in won the«2009 Best Gay Bar» award in the Riverfront Times, so it must be a pretty decent place! Erney’s is nice because it’s divided into three sections — a calmer bar-type area, a pretty crazy small dance floor, and an outdoor patio. These three atmospheres really let you set your environment, so it’s one stop shopping here whether you want a quieter drink or to slink on the pole — yes, there’s a pole. I didn’t get a drink, but apparently they were cheap and good — a luxury at that particular intersection! At any rate, I don’t know how soon I’ll be back, but I do know one thing: some serious fun is going on down there on the weekends.

Definately not a girl(les) friendly place. The staff is slow and rude, and the crowd even worse. Their are no bathrooms for women, of course it is a gay bar, but I did see women in there with their gay friends. Oh and by the way guys, Michelob Ultra is NOT an IMPORT beer, unless you consider Arsenal and 55 another country. An overpriced drink served with an attitude and surliness is not my idea of a fun night.

After living in San Francisco and San Diego, I returned home to St. Louis expecting a non-existent nightlife. ‘Back in the day’ of Twist, Fallout and such, there were plenty of gay clubs to hang out, dance, meet friends and more. Over the more recent years, when I have visited St. Louis, The Complex and JJ’s were busy and a good time, but didn’t really cater to that nightclub experience that Fallout had(as well as the clubs on the West Coast). The interior has the look and feel of a classic South Beach or WeHo club, with booths to chill in, friendly and fun staff, a DJ who knows what it means«to spin». While the dance floor is not large, it has a cozy feel to it that allows for you to interact with others while dancing and share the whole experience. With a a platform box in the middle, friends that love to be the center of attention have their own spot for the duration of the evening.

It’s a hit or miss with this bar. As an interior design student, I go GaGa(so to speak) over the décor and swanky antmosphere. I try to avoid Saturday nights, as it’s so packed I can barely move. And considering the small person I am, I got knocked over many times. The dancefloor is also very small. The VodBox with cold vodka is great, and the $ 10 all you can drink on specific nights is always a good deal considering how much you drink. The music is decent, but overall a good gay time; Always bump into someone I know.

Ernie’s boasts an upscale décor with bar stools and chairs made for small people. I found it rather insulting when I tried to use one. It is very clean and nicely decorated. They have an interesting walk in cooler where you can sample shots of vodka. The overall prices are expensive. You definitely pay for the atmosphere. There is a small dance floor which seems completely out of place. There is an outdoor sitting area which is very tiny. It’s just a concert pad with some lawn furniture and no outside bar. I hesitate even calling it a patio. The biggest disappointment was an inexperienced staff that had difficultly mixing basic drinks.
