I rate the food a 2 ½. Ordered carne asada tacos, carne asada super nachos and a grilled chicken wet burrito and the meat looked and tasted as if it was reheated a few times. Not impressed.

This place is a hidden gem! You won’t find this place unless you know where it is located. This is one of the BEST burritos I’ve ever had in my life & I eat a lot of Mexican. They have a little salsa bar which is a nice little touch. I cannot wait to come back to California just to have one of these again.

I’m still looking for that awesome Mexican joint, Los Cautes isn’t it. I ordered the Chorizo Quesadilla for me, and Chorizo Burrito for the boyfriend. The meat was so over cooked that it was rubbery-chewy. I love a good salsa bar, but only«liked» one of the varieties(the green avocado/cilantro one). Out of 5, that’s not the greatest odds. We’ll be trying somewhere else the next time we’re craving Mexican.

Good food, fast, not overpriced, opens up early, near the highway, and close to the airport. What’s not to like?

I love Los Cuates for the below reasons: * SALSABAR. The orange sauce has a great kick. The green sauce has avocado to smooth it out but still has a nice burn. * Great service. We often finish our chips before the food is brought out and they’ll usually offer us more chips. Chips aren’t made in-house, but who cares — they’re just a vehicle for that awesome salsa bar. They also are good about bringing the food to your table — don’t even need a number to know where you’re at. * Solid carnitas tacos. Porky, juicy, fatty. * Love the 1 taco plate w/rice and beans when I have a smaller appetite * When I’m sick or it’s cold, I love getting the caldo de res(beef soup) or caldo de camarones(shrimp soup). The beef soup has huge chunks of soft stewed beef that still tastes beefy and good. Both soups loaded with veg so I feel healthier. Add in the cilantro/onion for a great crunch. Shrimp soup doesn’t skimp on the shrimp either. Both come with a side of rice that I like to dump in the soup. Big portions. Great broth. * When I want something lighter, I like getting the filete pescado(fish filet plate). Basa filet panfried on the flattop, and comes with rice/beans, side salad with tomatos/avocado slices. * Solid ceviche * Solid horchata * Solid menudo

I was busy buying turkey and needed a quick place to eat after all that holiday grocery shopping. The staff here is friendly and the food was good considering the location. This place is located in a small strip mall and I came in wanting tacos. They give you complimentary chips and there’s a salsa bar with good salsa. The tacos were flavorful and the carne asada was lean and not full of fat like other places I’ve been to. I could see myself returning if I’m ever around this area and needed a quick bit to eat.

Compré un Lengua Super Burrito y Club Soda por $ 11ish. Los niños son ruidosos. Pero almuerzo caliente valió la pena. Quiero volver y probar el BBQ Burrito.

Tacos here are great but definitely not the best ive had. The tacos are $ 2.20 each and comes with your choice of meat, herbs and sauce. The main reason why I didnt like it was that the sauce/salsa they add onto your tacos sorta drenches everything. The meat was alright but not as juicy or fresh as it could have been. When eating my tacos, the juices began to spill and that’s just not a good sign for me personally. They do give you 2 tortillas per taco but overall this place is okay for their tacos. On the up side, their salsa is really good! Its really fresh and has a nice crunch with it. They provide free water and complimentary chips;however, i am not sure if you can refill the chips free of charge. Place aint bad, but there are other places i could eat at while i am in south city.

I stumbled in here one day while waiting for my hair appointment. It was clean and also empty. I had a craving for beans again so I ordered the carne Asada plate. Plates come with beans, rice, and a small salad. The meat was cooked right and it even came with grilled onions on top. I would probably try their tortas next time if I’m in the area. Everyone was friendly and their salsa bar is actually good. I would recommend !

Great place for your burrito and taco craving! Friendly little place with good great food. Parking on a Saturday afternoon is a bit challenging, but worth it. First timer but soon to become a regular.

Monelle A’s review( ) hits the nail on the head: straightforward, solid Mexican food in a clean and nice environment. The place was hopping and packed to the gills on a Sunday at 5-ish but we managed to slip into a table in the corner next to the water dispenser. This was also conveniently next to the tidy little salsa bar, which included 4 types of salsa(I was tempted to buy a pint of the bright green one to go, it was that good), plus whole pickled jalapeños and fresh radishes. My carnitas torta had a fresh and toasty bun and all the components were perfectly balanced. The carnitas themselves had a good combo of fatty and crispy bits. My kid’s super nachos at first looked like a smallish portion but between the two of us we could only get through half, and we were HUNGRY when we arrived! We easily could have shared just those and skipped anything else. Bonus: this place is serious about its super nachos… they really lay on the cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. *pats belly rolls* By closer to 6 the restaurant had emptied out a bit, but the stream of to-go customers continued. I was pleasantly surprised when one of the employees(she had the bearing of someone in charge) came to our table and chatted us up, asking if it was our first visit and making menu recommendations for future visits. That’s the first time that’s happened to me in a taqueria(no racist). I also witnessed a lot of banter between the staff and customers. Gave me a good feeling. And so did the look of their micheladas. I’ll be back for one of those faster than you can say«super burrito de carne asada con extra chile, por favor.»

Literally, as good as it gets… Love the burritos, tostadas, enchiladas, and mostly the cocktail ceviche. The ceviche is just perfect with the amount of fish and shrimp, not too spicy and the avocados are really refreshing, good amount of tomatoes, onions, japalenos, and everything! Very big portion, you’ll have enough for dinner and the next days lunch. I highly recommend!

Not sure why the rave reviews. First off, the girl was nice enough to bring me my order after it took forever and a day to make my super fish burrito but she didn’t seem like she wanted to take my order in the first place. Had to ask if I can place my order since she ignored me and was chatting away. Overall, my burrito wasn’t worth $ 9.76. Yes, it was big but it was a gigantic, mushy mess. The fish wasn’t crispy so it became more mush. The guac was super smooth which, you guessed it, added more layers of mush. I love sour cream but it was just so mushy after it joined forces w/the mushy guac. Felt like something was missing and realized that they didn’t put in the onion, cilantro and salsa that was indicated on the menu. Oook??? Checked the menu again just to be sure and yep, it was supposed to come with it but was auspiciously missing.

Had to try this place since it was close to work. Once we found parking, it was less painful. We as group of 5 or more of us started to order a little of everything. Tacos, burritos, tortas, and drinks. Really wish I could have a beer while on my lunch break. Food was good. Served hot fresh made to order, and tasty. Makes my mouth water thinking about the tacos. Drenched in hot sauce. Only problem is location, location. Parking is scarce. Park far walk in. Eat drink and have a great meal.

Los Cuates Taqueria is 1 of my favorite spot to get a burrito. I’ve tried their Chicken Burrito, Steak Burrito and so far I like it. My wife loves their Chile Relleno. Service is pretty good, everyone smiles and always says hi.

Pretty sure I just found my new taqueria! Their tacos and enchilada style burrito is off the hook. And I haven’t used that term in a long time. Hole in the wall place near smart and final, staff is friendly, and service is fast whether I call ahead of time, or wait in line. Not a huge fan of their chips, but their salsa bar has a lot of options. Wish they stayed open late!

I just recently discovered this Los Cuates when I was walking around the Brentwood Bowl area. I decided to stop by there for lunch one weekend and order one of their burritos to-go. Before ordering, I decided to check out Unilocal to see what looked good here and their Enchilada Style Burrito looked pretty good! So I ordered a Chicken Enchilada Style Burrito with Red Sauce and a Shrimp Taco for an appetizer. Shrimp Taco — Enchilada Style Chicken Burrito with Red Sauce — The Shrimp Taco was okay. I didn’t like how they used little baby shrimp for the taco instead of the jumbo ones they use for their Carne Asada and Camarones plate. On the other hand, the Enchilada Style Burrito was delicious. All smothered with Red Sauce and Cheese, the stuffed burrito was a perfect lunch. I have to go back to try their Carne Asada and Camarones plate. That seems to be their most popular plate. Overall, it’s a pretty solid Taqueria. I still prefer El Farolito over this, but depending on my mood, if I don’t want to drive to downtown SSF, then I’ll have Los Cuates as a better alternative then El Faro.
