Old School Charm, Pretty Good Staples and Friendly Faces. The Food — — — - Freshly caught fish. They are famous for their crab cakes. Unfortunately because I don’t eat seafood(with the exception of fish, like snapper) there weren’t a lot of options for me. The fish was fresh and served hot. Skip the tartar sauce and ask for the house hot sauce(made right there)… It’s worth it! For those who prefer it add a little salt as needed. This is good especially if you are on a sodium-conscious diet. My friends all enjoyed their crab cakes with fries. The slaw was good… Fresh, crisp and crunchy. Bang-For-The-Buck — — — — — — – Initially it felt a bit pricy from my point of view. Once the food arrived I felt it was worth the price. I’ve paid more for less elsewhere. The Spot — — — - Walk through the the doors and its like walking back in time. Definitely an old school diner charm, which is what one expects. I love a lot of dives and places with character that serve good food and this place was not exception. Parking is a bit tricky especially on the busy street. Just past the spot, make two rights and a left and you’ll find public parking for $ 3 – 5 depending on your stay. There is the choice of sitting around the counter or picking one of the dining table clusters in the second room. The Staff — — — - Very friendly with old school courtesy. It was a pleasant experience. Conclusion — — — — Definitely worth taking the time to check this spot out. Park in the lot and save yourself the hassle and get the house hot sauces. Check it out at least once.

I have been to Crisfield on two occasions, each time due to my future in-laws wanting to go. After each visit my fiancé and I find ourselves wondering how this place has such a stellar reputation. The food, while not bad, is certainly not worthy of the reputation nor the price. Fortunately, we live in an area where very good seafood is readily available and each meal struck me as standard seafood, with thick, under seasoned breading, yet far too much sodium and dishes I could get pretty much anywhere in Maryland. If you are really craving seafood and you, like myself and my fiancé, walk everywhere you go while in downtown Silver Spring I don’t think you have any other options, but certainly don’t make a special trip here… Maryland has too many other wonderful options to sate your cravings.

I am sure the atmosphere was charming in 1965 but sitting down in front of a piece of plywood for a bar is not what I call ambience. Too many notes with rules all over the restaurant Food is average. You get the impression no one that works here really cares anymore.

Really hate to write reviews! But I think it helps the owners to look at what some people think! Especially when they are spending their $$. I had the crab cakes with a baked potato awful! It’s not like this is my first time! I use to be a frequent customer! Years ago! I remember now the bad food & service started about 10 years ago however I would keep trying up to now:( My husband had the French fries & crab cakes Awful! Full of fillers &THIN! it’s really sad:) when your favorite place loses its thing:) it hurts! Mostly some people just stop going rather than letting the business know something is wrong. I pray they get it BACK together. I am really beginning to understand Unilocal

So let me start by saying that our servers were excellent and the staff was really friendly. The food was served hot and quick. Unfortunately, for the amount of money I spent, I didn’t feel like the quality in the food was there. I got the broiled seafood platter and the lobster and stuffed shrimp tasted over cooked and rubbery. The butter was plain. If they had tried to infuse it with some garlic or parsley, it might have saved it, but alas no. The stuffing for the flounder and the shrimp was delicious. I could have eaten the stuffed flounder and the fries all day. The seafood bisque was plain even with the house hot sauce. The most disappointing thing was when I ordered a salad and they handed me a packet of salad dressing instead of a side of dressing. Please use fewer onions. I might try it again during the summer and hopefully the quality will improve as more fresh seafood is available. At this point, I would rather go to a red lobster chain for seafood. I’m pretty disappointed because I wanted to love it.

From great food to even better service! Price was a little high but well worth every cent. I had the stuff shrimp and as I write this I wish I didn’t live 3hrs away! The server was great(Julius) he kept a conversation going, and also gave me great advice! All in all I love this place and so happy my friend lives across the street, I will be back every time I come to the DC/MD area!

Nothing impressive about atmosphere, but the food is very tasty. You can’t get any better New England clam chowder. It can be pretty loud and it is quite expensive, so we don’t go here often.

I usually avoid any establishments with neon lights however I needed, yes needed, some good fried fish. So after knowing about this place for 4 yrs, starving and wanting fish I thought what the heck I’ll give it a try. The décor– SMH, it’s nothing to write about. To put it eloquently, it’s a blast from the past. Think old 1960s lunch counter and a side room with the same table with fold-able legs you recall from nana’s house when you were a kid. In modern terms it needs some tlc and to come into the 90s at least. Now for what you’re reading to find out about, the food. I had the flounder platter fried– and my oh my. The fish was perfect. When I say perfect, I stopped using the folk at some point and just started eating the fish with my fingers. Think I’m lying? Try it yourself. It was crunchy on the outside with hearty flaky fish on the inside. The seasoning and the crunch combo is what made me put down the fork so I could really tear it up. I also sampled the stuffed shrimp with crab. It was tasty, the breading on the fish didn’t give me a crunch but the pure crab stuffed inside made up for that. They also served rolls w/butter before the fish came out which I can appreciate. The low points– the side dishes leave much to be desired. The fries were shoe string like but no crunch, kinda soggy. The baked potato definitely could’ve been better if it had sour cream, cheese, butter and chives. Unfortunately is was a shriveled up potato wrapped in foil. The service was friendly and attentive. I’d give this place 3 stars but the darn fried fish was so good. I feel compelled to give them a 4. Don’t come for anything else accept for fried food and a glass of wine. That’s what I did and I left a very happy camper. I’ve actually been there twice in one week since giving them a try.

Had my first meal from this place yesterday. I have to say it has been pretty unpleasant. I called to get a take out order originally wanting oysters on the half shell because they were on the menu. No big deal they are out of season, so I got the steamed lobster tail and my wife got the broiled combo. The menu online had no prices. When I placed the order the lady who took my order did not give me a total. I made assumptions looking at the menu and other reviews that this was a mid priced place and figure I was ordering about $ 65 worth of food maybe $ 75. This was totally my fault and I don’t blame the restaurant for this. I was way wrong. I should have asked for the total. When I went to pick up my food I was in for a sticker shock. My lobster tails were $ 49 for 2 average sized steamed lobster tails. My wife’s meal was $ 35 for one lobster tail(that was smallish) a piece of flounder and a crab cake. Total ticket was $ 93 after tax etc… Once again all my fault, but when you see this place it looks like a Mississippi fish fry. And that’s okay for $ 10 fried catfish plates, but not for a $ 49 lobster platter. The food was mediocre. The bad part was my lobster was bad. I woke up around 10pm and spent the next several hours in the bathroom with food poisoning. So if you are going to eat at this place, find out your total and avoid the steamed $ 49 lobster plate.

After a full day kayaking and museum-going, we were exhausted and hungry. It was so nice to stop in at our old favorite haunt and find things going so well! Crisfield’s is a legend. And one that lives up to the hype. This is not fancy food. It’s solid, flavorful, and beautifully prepared comfort seafood that is the epitome of Mid-Atlantic fare. We had the soft shell crab platter and the Imperial Crab. The softshells were perfect! Beautifully battered and fried perfectly. Delicious! The Imperial Crab was full of large pieces of crabmeat(not shredded) and exploding with flavor. What a treat! Hurray for Crisfield’s!

OMG… The BEST seafood I have ever had!!! The service was fantastic and the food so plentiful we could not finish it!!! I had the combination fresh lobster(already shelled for me and ready to pop in my mouth!), crabmeat and shrimp while the others had a fried combination platter that had scallops, perch, shrimp and crab cakes… Even my husband couldn’t finish it all! This place is a must if you love seafood… Reasonable prices for what you get… that’s for sure!!! I will be back!!! Thank you!!!

Went here for Good Friday dinner. My husband ordered the fried rockfish with coleslaw and fries. I had fried shrimp and fries. We also both has a beer– served in a mini glass for $ 2.50– love it. Overall we were very impressed. This is a no frills place that definitely does fried seafood well– not greasy and very fresh. The fries are also hand cut and fried crispy. We will definitely return for our seafood fix!

So we live pretty close to here and never got around to trying it out. One night we decided to give it a shot since we were craving some seafood. Our experience was very bad. The décor, service, and quality were all terrible for the price of our meal. For $ 80 you should be able to get solid, enjoyable meal in DC for 2 people. NOTHERE. For $ 80 we got a very dirty restaurant, very slow and unfriendly service and completely flavorless food. Both of us do not understand how this place has stayed in business with such expensive prices and poor quality. I would not recommend Crisfields to anybody I know for any reason.

Very very very good simple and well done seafood. Menu could be a little bigger maybe add daily specials. My las visit was last week and I had seafood bisque(a little too tick for me but flavorful and lots of seafood) and crisfield special(crab meat awesomeness!) Staff has changed since most have retired. The staff was friendly and attentive. Four stars because they should at least add a few new items to their menu, server got me the wrong soup the first time and then the soup was thicker than normal.

Simply the best! Yes, it’s dated — is that a bad thing? I always sit at the bar. My faves are the seafood bisque(loaded with fish, crab, shrimp, lobster). I often get the«crab fingers,» which is an appetizer: a plateful of crab claws and divine mustard dipping sauce. This is one of the few places I will eat oysters. They are always fresh. I get the fried oyster sandwich and my husband eats them raw. For an entrée, I get either the stuffed shrimp or the Crisfield special(kind of a poor man’s crab imperial). And I usually get the light fare versions, because they give you plenty. The fries are handcut. Sprinkle them with Old Bay seafood seasoning and you’re in heaven. This is old time Maryland grub at its best. Don’t get the crab cake. Sorry, it’s not that good.

I’ve been a customer at this place for over 5 years. Ordered my usual stuffed shrimp to go. Got home and one of the shrimp was either half eaten or cut. Called the restaurant, spoke to Bonnie the manager who accused me of eating it. I’ll drive to Baltimore for my seafood from now on. If anyone wants a pic of my order let me know. Contacting dc health department.

Okay, I have to bump my review up one star now. I finally tried the crab and shrimp Norfolk. Their special sauce is the way to go… Yum! I also sprinkled a little old bay on it. I had a bowl of seafood soup and ate the whole bowl and all of my seafood. Yes this was very glutenous of me, but I just couldn’t help myself. 4 Stars!

Now this is good seafood, plain and simple! No frills, extra ingredients or hidden agendas. Crisfields is serving up hot or cold(per your preference), fresh, tasty seafood. Have they been on «Diner’s Drive Ins and Dive’s“yet? If not, Guy Fieri needs to make his way to Silver Spring, MD. It’s clear that the food is the star of the show here. The décor is minimal, the staff are friendly, the patrons are regulars and happiness is bring served all day. I always get the stuffed shrimp. It’s the perfect mix of shrimp and crab baked into one a small patty, if you may, to be picked up and nibbled on by the shrimps tail. Awesomeness. My friends love the seafood bisque, I have yet to try it. But I have had the clam chowder and it was nothing special. The scallop dish and fried fish sandwich are also good. Be sure to request condiments with the sandwich. For a small fee, they bring the sandwich together. Raw oysters are also a plus. With the friendly service and fresh ingredients this home style seafood restaurant will always be one of my faves.
