I’ve been coming to this salon for two years and bringing my four kids here as well, but today was the last time I will visit. It’s hit or miss as to whether you will get a stylist who’s any good or not. Heather and Jan are both awesome at what they do– and they are frequently booked solid as a result. The other stylists are always available, but there’s a reason for that. I’ve had six incidents now where I or one of my children came away with either poor quality haircuts or haircuts that look nothing like what we asked for and showed pictures of. One stylist in particular is so insecure in her skills that she is constantly stopping to ask the customer and other stylists if she’s doing okay so far. Scary. Today I brought my stepdaughter in for a cut. She usually has a pixie cut anyway, but after repeated lice incidents, my husband cut her hair short with a #5 clipper guard. All I wanted was for Cost Cutters to clean up her hairline and cut a stylish line design into her hair. I even had a picture of the design we wanted. Two stylists at Cost Cutters– not Heather or Jan– told us there wasn’t anything they could do with her hair and promptly began reassuring my stepdaughter that«if kids tease you, it’s only because they’re jealous,» as though there is something wrong with a girl having short hair. One even told us that we shouldn’t have cut her hair so short, that we should have removed the lice and then brought her in for a longer haircut– wrongly assuming, of course, that we hadn’t already been down that road three times, that we hadn’t already spent countless hours removing lice and nits from her hair, only to send her to her other parent’s house and have her return to us with lice again. I was understandably frustrated at two things: 1) their insensitivity toward my stepdaughter, who actually likes having her hair short, and 2) their obvious and insulting disdain for our decision to cut her hair short. Hairstylists aren’t here to question my parenting decisions or to make my daughter feel ashamed of having short hair. When I expressed my irritation, both stylists got snippy with me, as though I was in the wrong for being offended at their total lack of manners. I quickly smoothed things over, but it took all my willpower not to make a scene and and take my business somewhere else. I didn’t want to throw a fit and set a poor example for my stepdaughter. In the end, they trimmed her hairline slightly at the neck and in front of the ears, refused to cut her hair the way I wanted it, and charged us a full kid cut price for about forty seconds’ worth of work. It’s unfortunate that Jan and Heather are stuck with these other stylists. If you do go here, do NOT let anyone besides Jan or Heather near your hair. No matter who works there, though, my kids and I won’t be returning.

I’m on a 4-month vacation traveling in the Southwest with my husband in our new RV. I needed my hair cut because I wear it short and spiked. But, I didn’t bring my hairdresser with me so I stopped at CostCutters here and I’m happy I did! I didn’t have an appointment and only had to wait 10 minutes for Heather to take out her magic razor and begin making me look perfect! Heather gave me the style I wanted and not what she thought I needed! She is wonderful, the salon is very clean and the price is right! I’m very happy to recommend this establishment!

I have had my hair cut twice at this place and it is a crap shoot. The first haircut was from a lady who was very experienced and made me look great. Unfortunately I did not get her name because the place was very busy and I had to make an appointment. On my second visit, I might have been the girl’s first ever customer. She was very tentative and unsure of herself. She kept asking«hows that?». After telling her the hair was still too long a couple of times, I I finally realized I was making her nervous and just let it go. The cut wasn’t a disaster, but ended up way too long and not very becoming(even for me). Price is good if you’re willing to take the risk.
