It has closed, too bad because the bbq was awesome. New place there now called Pegah’s. Pretty good family restaurant.

I was waiting for a response from someone and decided to grab a bite to eat. This looked like a good place to try. I was instantly blown away by the genuine friendliness of the server. The food would have to be pretty awful for this to be a bad experience. I couldn’t decide between the BLT and the sliced ham. The server said they were both good, but suggested going with the ham. I also asked about the sausage. They have the meats where you can buy them separately, but a half pound. I intended to get that and bring it home knowing I couldn’t eat everything. I mentioned I wanted to try the sausage and pointed at the half pound option. The server could have just took the order, but she recommended going for a combo sandwich with ham and sausage and getting the sausage on the side. Perfect! And saved me money! The great service continued. Just the right amount of small talk, attentive, just perfect through the entire experience. I felt like I was a known regular. The sausage was excellent! The server told me they didn’t make their own, but got it from a local company and smoked it there. The ham was also good, but looked like servings were prepackaged and placed on the bun. Like when you open a small package of lunch meat and don’t separate the thin slices out. It made me wonder if it came packaged or was cut from a smoked ham, put in portions, and reheated. Either way it was good. I ordered cottage cheese for my side. Usually I love the cottage cheese restaurants have. This cottage cheese wasn’t that spectacular. I had a lemonade with my meal. Do to restrictions, it was nice they had a non-carbonated, non-caffeinated, non-alcohol option. It wasn’t fresh lemonade, but still a great option. Price is consistent with BBQ joints around the metro. Around $ 12 for everything. Décor is standard sports barish, beer signs, TV’s, etc. I will be back when in the area.

For a neighborhood, close BBQ place, this is pretty good. We have not eaten in the restaurant, but get it to go when we have family over. The one thing I do not appreciate is their«take out» fees that they charge. I think that they definitely need to rethink that strategy since, as other reviewers have stated, they are a bit over priced to begin with. But, I do enjoy have a local, neighborhood place to go out here in western Shawnee. It is great to not have to drive a long way to get some BBQ. We have ordered the brisket, ribs, turkey, and pulled pork. All are decent but need to be sauced. Sauce is decent too. The coleslaw is pretty standard, but the potato salad is one of my favorites I have tried.

Dinner with a client who is known there by name. Excellent ribs! Saucy has a kick, and pretty viscous. Go with the combo platter. Get pulled pork and brisket were good. Baked beans are definitely good. A bit off the beaten path, but a nice spot. Looked to have a decent-sized bar.

The BBQ is sometimes on the dry side and requires a lot of sauce. That said the staff is friendly and the wait is usually very short, even when most of the tables are full. Price is good. Ribs are good. It’s no OK Joes but great for a quick BBQ craving.

Ribs were above average. Full slab and two sides for Thursday Special was a ton of food and affordable. Pulled pork was average and the sauce lacked a little«kick». Looked like a good place to watch the game but also family friendly. I do hope it succeeds. I’ll be back for the ribs.

Not great. I have to agree that this is silly expensive for what you get. Especially lunchtime. I almost feel bad for folks who get the brilliant idea to open a BBQ restaurant in KC metro. On the other hand shouldn’t they know what it takes to succeed? I had the pulled pork and it was fairly tasteless and dry. I assume it is because it had been sitting around for too long because not many folks are visiting the place. Wife had BBQ nachos and while the first bite was promising, it went down hill from there, just ended up tasting like it had been thawed out. Sorry folks no patience for so-so BBQ in Kansas city. Too many other places to enjoy.

Even though I hope this restaurant succeeds, I probably wont go back. I ordered the smoked nachos topped with beef brisket. it was average. The BBQ sauce tasted like kc masterpiece. :/ The restaurant atmosphere was very nice, i just wish the food was as good as the atmosphere.

My family and I ate at «The Pick Smoke n Grill» on a Sunday evening. It was very quiet initially(we were the only people in the place on Sunday at 5:00), but it was getting busy as we left. I had a brisket and pulled pork sandwich that was ok. There was plenty of meat there, but not a lot of smoke flavor or flavor from the rub that they used. I like to taste the spices and flavors, but I did not in this sandwich. I had a side of beans and the beans were pretty good. They were not really rich with molasses or brown sugar, but they had a good flavor. I asked if they had sausage on the menu as it wasn’t listed. The waiter said they were working on it still. A little while later, he brought me a sample of what they were working on. It was good sausage. The casing was a little chewy, but the flavor of the sausage was excellent. My wife had a pulled pork sandwich and really enjoyed it. It had lots of meat and they toast the buns which is a nice touch. She also had sweet potato waffle fries with her sandwich. They were good. Our kids had chicken fingers and fries. Their food was good and hot and they both enjoyed the cookies on the plate, too. Overall, it was a decent experience. I did not see burnt ends on the menu, which disappointed me. We will go back and try again

The Pick is a new BBQ place in Western Shawnee. This area has been sorely lacking in barbeque for a while now and the Pick will more than fill the void. The brisket is good. I also found the turkey and pulled pork to be pretty good too. I haven’t tried the ribs yet, but they look good. The sauce is nothing special, but its not bad. The Pick offers more than just smoked BBQ meats though with burgers and salads on the menu as well. We are going to have to try the BBQ nachos with brisket next time.
