This is really good. Everything is perfect. Meat is tender, fries are crisp, coleslaw is one of the best I’ve had. It has parsley and outher goodies in it with a nice little tang. The sandwich had about 3″ of merest in it. This place is on a lonely road next to the highway and gas station. Run to check it out. This place would be packed everyday if it was in fort lauderdale.

My wife and I went here about 2 weeks ago. We were in town for the Keith Urban concert. Well let me tell you. The Burnt ends and ribs are amazing. My wife had the half smoked chicken. She loved it. The sides, don’t get me started. The sides slow smoked beans, cole slaw, & cheesy corn. I would walk thru a blizzard to get them. The two guys we talked to that worked there were really friendly. If you find yourself within an hour of this joint please do your self a favor. GOEATHERE!!!

This place is right down the road from home. The first time we ate here, we got our usual. Turkey sandwich and a full slab. We were not impressed with either choice. Then a friend of mine picked up dinner to have at my house. She got a pound of beef and a pound of pork. Both were really good. The next time we got together we got just a pound of beef. It was OK, but seemed like it had been sitting awhile because it was dried out. I don’t care for the fries, probably because they put them in a styrofoam container and they are soggy instantly. Food seems pretty hit or miss. Guess you just gotta catch it on the right day at the right time.

Good googly moogly, they have some fine BBQ here. Their coleslaw is more dill than sweet which balances perfectly with the sweetness of the beans and sauce. I had the burnt ends and pulled pork. I’m a stickler for burnt ends and if you can’t produce a good burnt end, it might be a good idea to get out of the business here in KC. But I can happily report Roscoe’s went above and beyond my burnt end expectations. The pork was perfection, great flavor, not overly cooked and perfect texture. This is a no frills place, but generally frills and BBQ don’t go hand and hand. They have shorter hours as do many of the smaller BBQ places here in KC, so check their hours before heading over. Can’t wait to go back.

I ate in a rush but what I did have, ½ BBQ chicken and some cheesy heavenly concoction, was pretty tasty. I’ll have to come back and try the other stuff.

We were staying at Great Wolf Lodge and I couldn’t stomach the food anymore. Took a gander on Unilocal and saw Roscoe’s. We headed over for lunch and I got the burnt ends and sausage. My wife got the pulled pork. The burt ends were awesome and sooo tender. The sausage was also great with just enough smoke. I wasn’t left burping up smoke flavor for the next couple of hours. This is a little hole in the wall in Edwardsville, and worth the trip if you want some great KCBBQ!!!

I had ribs, burnt ends, and turkey. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, the burnt ends were succently juicy, and the turkey was drop dead to die for. Excellent flavor as well. For sides, I had beans and fries. The beans were very tasty and chunks of meat in it that brought over the top. The fries were good… but I don’t think as good as Wyandote BBQ on State. The sauce was mostly sweet with a little kick and a lot of smoky flavor. The service was pleasant and helpful and the restaurant was bright and clean. There was a TV or two going; however, the sound was not turned on so it didn’t really intrude into my meal. The next time I’m in the area, I’ll be back.

Damn good KCBBQ. As soon as I stepped out of my car the smell hit me and I knew I was about to have a great meal. I ordered the two meat plate with ribs and burnt ends with slaw and beans. The ribs were a grand slam. You could see the meat falling off the bone just sitting there. Some of the best ribs I’ve ever had. The burnt ends were all extremely tender and juicy. Not dry at all. I feel like they were missing a little something past the initial flavor of the first few bites. Still, compared to most burnt ends that are half dry these were excellent. The sides were great as well. I loved the slaw and the beans were definitely some of the best I’ve had. Very sweet and saucy with some good size chunks of meat. At points I felt the beans were a bit too sweet, but you won’t hear me complain about that. Overall I’d put this small town KCBBQ right up there with the big boys.

My favorite BBQ place! I usually get the ham and turkey sandwich. So much flavor in the ham. The beef sandwich is excellent as well. The sauce is the best I’ve ever had. The owners run the store, and they are very friendly. Be sure to check the hours before you go, as they are no longer open on the weekend. There might not be a place to park, or a place to sit inside, but it is worth the drive from wherever you are.

It doesn’t get much«divey-er» than this place. On the plus side, the food was superb. Turkey gets an A, beef brisket gets an A, and the pulled pork was a bit dry(but still tasty) and gets a B. Fries were straight up Ore Ida-esque…they complimented the meat just fine. Also a winner is their very unique BBQ sauce. Normally you can peg the sauce as spicy/vinegary/sweet/peppery/etc, but not this stuff. It kind of had a hint of everything, leaving it in a rather mysterious place of overall goodness. EDIT: After messaging with the Owner, apparently there is a public bathroom(despite a sign directly in front of the entryway saying No Public Bathroom). With the caveat that most BBQ joints do a busier lunch than dinner… They close at 3 on Mondays and 7 T-F, despite 6:30 — 7:30PM being the busiest«dinner hour» per Google. Ownership explained that they start at 6:30 in the morning and that 7 is a reasonable time to close… While that is the prerogative of the business Owner; I still disagree with this, because as a consumer, I feel that it’s incumbent upon a business to have«normal business hours» and when all of your competition stays open until 8:30−10PM, it feels like you’re not quite living up to the normal/reasonable expectations of the consumer base. Being closed on the weekends is understandable given the long hours during the week, but it would be great to be able to swing by on a Sunday and pick up a meat platter for the football game or before going to a Sporting KC game.

I wasn’t blown away by this place. Don’t get me wrong, I thought that it was good, but I’ve had better burnt ends at KC Joes, Q39, Jack Stacks as well as a couple of other places. I also had the creamed corn and beans and they were very good, but not as good as Jack Stacks. It’s worthy of 3.5 stars, in my humble opinion.

Only 12 minutes from my house & this has become my favorite BBQ restaurant. The burnt ends are fabulous. Not to be overlooked is the cole slaw. Baked beans are great too. Dwight

Was looking for a great BBQ place in Kansas City but the Royals won the World Series! So no downtown BBQ for us but this place was great! Service was very good and the ribs were fall off the bone tender with a great spice!

Don’t judge a book by its cover: looked a little rough on the outside and almost turned around but glad I didn’t. Great food served fast and hot. The people were kind, the pulled pork literally fell apart and the ribs were phenomenal !!!

Roscoe’s is in my top three for traditional KC Barbecue. Everyone has preferences, and for me Roscoe’s has the best burnt ends by far. They come out perfect and need nothing but a fork. Their backed beans are the 2nd best in the city and ribs are right near the top as well. BBQ sauce is a huge preference issue, but Roscoe’s has a very unique sauce. It’s darker and richer tasting than other places in town with what I think is a heavier molasses flavor. I never eat it, because my food at Roscoe’s never needs it. It’s almost always perfect as is. Picking my favorite BBQ in KC is like picking a favorite child; it really depends on the day and how I’m feeling. Roscoe’s is definitely in the mix, but has that«forgotten middle child» vibe. It’ll probably never have the big name recognition, but it’s amazing stuff. The only thing to worry about is the AC vents in the floor. Depending on what you’re wearing, you could get an unexpected, and intimate, draft.

I went back to try Roscoe’s…and today they were on their A game… I had burnt ends and their special sausage on white bread. …the food was phenomenal! Sausage was 10… Burnt ends 9.25…I ate all the food without sauce… if you haven’t stopped by here I want you to slap yourself… you are missing out… A special shout and thank you to the cashier who paid for my lunch because I was a service member… it is my honor to serve and you are too kind!

Best ribs in Kansas City, bar-none. But, you either better call early, and not wait until late in the day. That was the mistake I made last time I was in, and was greeted by a «ribs sold out» sign on the counter when it was time to place my order. Still, I went with a pound of pulled pork, and while it didn’t satisfy my desire for pigcicles, it was still quite good. Totally worth the drive out to Edwardsville. A real hidden gem among KC’s bbq scene.

I’m a HUGE fan of Oklahoma Joes, but this place ranks right up there with them. I’m very pleased with the small town BBQ joint that’s in my hometown! The ribs are delicious! The meat falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. Great flavor to them as well. My husband says«they need no sauce» as he grubs down. The baked beans have a great smoky flavor with pieces of burnt ends in them. And the NEW menu item«Pork Pie» has my #1 vote hands down. None of the other BBQ joints in KC including Oklahoma Joes serves anything like it. Its Frito chips, baked beans, pulled pork topped with coleslaw… you get a little bit of everything for a decent price! Its a small business but does have booths and some tables. Not a good choice if you have a big group, unless you don’t mind possibly not sitting with each other. Staff is friendly, restroom is clean and the food is awesome! A family of 3 ate for $ 25!

So I’m breaking one of my rules. Generally I won’t write a review about a place after one visit. Roscoe’s has inspired me to be a rebel. First let me say that I must have a love for BBQ joints that are close to or inside of gas stations. Secretly I became excited as I got closer and saw that it shared a sign with the gas station. I can’t explain it. I’m a weirdo. Anyhoo, it’s a little quaint place, no frills, just how BBQ should be. Today’s special was a jalapeño smoked sausage. It was pretty tasty. They also have a cheesy corn that was really good. For me, the star was the burnt ends. Oh how I long to have great burnt ends. So often I order burnt ends and they aren’t burnt ends. They are just little cubes of meat that are masquerading as burnt ends. Then I am disappointed and then comes anger. Not here though, they were delicious. My mom even exclaimed that she clearly had been missing out on eating them as she proceeded to eat all of mine. The portions are generous, the staff was friendly and it was surprisingly fast. I am already looking forward to going back and sampling more.

Not sure where my last review disappeared to — maybe it’s a conspiracy? Whatever the case, UFO, Area 51… I’m still pleased to say Roscoe’s still has the best tasting burnt ends I have ever put in my mouth and chewed with my teeth! We are talking moist, succulent and smoked to perfection. I think there was about an inch of «bark». Think with me… a crunchy outside and a moist inner meaty flavour. Kudos to you! Don’t overlook this place. You’ll be sorry you did. Sincerely, should have gotten take out!
