First the place was almost empty, and ordered our food then went to the bathrooms to wash our hands and completely disgusting. Needless to say we left because of the bathrooms are that bad then don’t trust the food.

OK food service was good. Atmosphere a little dated. The hot and sour soup was passable

All I’ll say is that any Chinese restaurant that uses jalapenos instead of dried red peppers in their Schezwan or spicy dishes won’t see me there again!

Awesome delivery for our area. Dining in is easy with the kids too. The moo shu chicken is the best, ask for extra pancakes as their portions are huge! Kids love the sesame chicken and lo mien noodles. Try the dan dan noodles if you want a great dish full of spice, more than enough to share. Great local place that does Chinese food well.

I’ve been patronizing this establishment FREQUENTYLY for 4 years… meaning at least once a week, sometimes more.(Except for Oct 2014 — Jan 2015 when I was having some health issues). I’ve spent no less than $ 3,000 at this place since 2011. Last week I ordered the fried shrimp from the menu that they have at the bar, which clearly stated that you get 10 fried shrimp for $ 6.95. When I got home I discovered that I only had 9. I didn’t feel like going back, so I just dealt with it. When came in the following week(as I always do), I mentioned that I had a shrimp missing from my previous order. The owner responded by saying that the number of shrimp in that order has been reduced to 8 and that’s all that I should have gotten. At that point, I POLITELY opened the aforementioned menu and showed her where it said«10 shrimp $ 6.95». She didn’t give a rat’s azz. No apology and no offer to make things right whatsoever. She said that the to-go menus have been updated and that’s what she goes by, not the menus at the bar. Huh??? Disappointment does not begin to describe how I feel. It’s not so much the missing shrimp, but her«F You» attitude towards me. Especially considering how often I go there. I will not be back. WARNING: If you place your order in person, ASKFORTHETO-GOMENU. Even if you are dining in. The menus on the tables and at the bar do not represent what you will actually get. * * * * Scroll to the bottom and click the link that says«OTHERREVIEWSTHATARENOTCURRENTLYRECOMMENDED» and you’ll see other reviews that are probably just as valid as the rest.* * * *

Disappointing lo mein. Moved into my new apartment, drove around the corner hoping to find Chinese food, found Café 1979(without Google, there’d be no way to know what type of food they sold), and decided to go with a safe choice — chicken lo mein. It was made with spaghetti noodles. Fail!

I was a long time customer of Café 1979 until last night. I ordered my food delivered and it came in a reasonable time. When I opened my food, one of the dishes had two clumps of hair in it. Long, black, knotted hair, as if someone had brushed their hair and then put it in the food. When I found one clump it was disgusting. TWOCLUMPS was crazy. But the craziest part is how the staff member answered when I called to tell him about it. I didn’t even want a refund, or new food, just to tell him about it. Do you know what he said? He said that no one at that restaurant has long hair! The hair was black, my hair is long but NOT black. Is he trying to say that I put the hair in my food just to call him and complain for no reason? WHATKINDOFCUSTOMERSERVICEISTHAT?! Do not eat there!!! If my food had hair in it that the staff can’t explain, what else could be in the food? Gross.

Secret gem in Clear Lake area! This place definitely hit the spot for some good Chinese food. I loved seeing a picture on the menu for every option, although it may make your decision making more difficult! We had a really sweet and kind waitress who brought us crisps to munch on for free. The cheese puffs were really delicious and I loved their fried rice. I will definitely come back again.

I want to like this place, I really do. There is a server whom I have followed to several restaurants who is fantastic and she gives world class service. The food is inconsistent. My big problem is that it usually has some side effects, and I generally have a strong stomach and love spicy foods. I love salt and pepper calamari and shrimp, so maybe they are getting the imported frozen in ammonia seafood not regulated by the FDA that comes into port. Whatever it is, even when the food is good, I usually get headaches or have some stomach problems. Again, this location is convenient and I have given it every chance. I wish I could recommend the place but I really cannot.

I went here for a work dinner with my coworkers, there were 9 of us in total. All food was served family style and shared. The food was excellent, the restaurant itself was clean but maybe a bit dated. We had maybe a dozen different dishes between appetizers and entrees; my favorites were: Chicken Wings(Salt & Pepper) — so much better than what you’d get at a wing place Crispy Duck — I was told this was a call-in-advance type dish, and it was great Shrimp Egg Foo Young — best thing I had there, amazing And my least favorite: Some sort of peanut and onion appetizer, not my thing, waste of stomach space «Chinese Bacon», not sure what the real name was, it wasn’t bad, but being called«bacon» made me have very high hopes Beer: I know they have Sapporo, Tsingtao, and Shiner Bock, and probably others. I’d happily eat here again.

We order from here about once a week! We keep it simple. Egg rolls always crispy hot and delicious on arrival! Pork fried rice always great! Yes I’d add some pork slices to wonton soup but that’s just my preference. Regardless, food always taste great and always delivered by either the owner or a staff member with a smile! Also, if you patronize Maribelles(bar next door) they’ll gladly walk an order over to ya!

I agree with fellow reviewer Ben J. I had the same thing along long time ago. General Chicken. It is exactly what Ben described. Horrible. So years later, like last week 7÷3÷2012, I went. The customer service was excellent! I enjoyed that very much. The staff was friendly when you walk in. Honey, the food — sucked. I had the beef with vegetables, and believe me I was dissappointed. The food sucked. Now if you want to feel like a prince or princess, go for the customer service, but believe me and Ben J., the food left little to be desired.

Holding down the«Chinese food» market on the east end of NASA1, both sit down and delivery are welcome. Menu covers your standard fair, although it does conceal a few gems. Usually fast and good.

This review is for DELIVERY service. So, M was craving Chinese food and we are totally on a budget. We got this menu from Café 1979 on our garage door months ago and decided to give them a try for delivery. The lady who took our order was very friendly and the delivery driver had to call to get into our complex and he was very nice, too. I was worried about what I would like so we ordered a mish-mash of stuff. Edamame — Pretty much the same everywhere — in the bean pod, I added my own coarse sea salt and they were served hot. Moo Shu Pork — comes w/4 crepes(more like really thin tortillas) and rice — it didn’t have a strong flavor by itself, but wrapped in the crêpe and with a little of the sweet thick sauce, they were really good. Dan Dan Noodles — egg noodles? topped with ground chicken in a sweet and spicy chile sauce — OMG! I really like the Dan Dan from Pei Wei/PF Changs, so I was worried. The menu did not say this was a spicy food item, but having eaten it before, it was expecting some spice. It had a really nice flavor of sweet and spicy. Enough to make you have a glass of water near, but not needing a fire hose. HA. I couldn’t stop eating this. There was PLENTY left over for tomorrow’s lunch! House Special Fried Rice(small) — Fried rice w/pork, chicken, shrimp — this place uses the JUMBO shrimp. There were 3 in this small box along with the pork and large chicken pieces. It was seasoned well and I enjoyed it along side my Dan Dan. The little box was deceptively heavy! They really pack it in. We paid $ 28 for all this food and tipped the guy $ 5. We will definitely call again for another round. See photos I uploaded here. They also have a children’s menu, family dinner, and lunch specials. BTW if you are looking to eat there, it is in a little strip shopping center with Specs and the Pelican Grill on Nasa Parkway.

Ok so here is the deal. I will break my review of this place down into sections as it isn’t completely horrible. I give one star for the following: Customer Service: 5⁄5(Very Friendly) Delivery Time: 5⁄5(Very Fast) I give zero stars for the following: Food: 0⁄5(Horrible) I ordered the General Tso’s Chicken and it came with thick white chicken meatballs. The meat had NOFLAVOR and it was unsalted. The meat was also very thick and rested in a very thin sauce that also had NOFLAVOR. The egg rolls were editable but not good by any means. They had very large pieces of veggies inside them and didn’t taste that great. Recommendation to owner? Get BETTERCOOKS! The rest of the staff are awesome and it is a shame the food couldn’t be good at this place.

5 stars? Really? Look at the outside. I know all about that but just give the place a chance. It’s really nice inside. Linen table cloths. Clean atmosphere. Great staff. Now that’s not usually enough to be five stars. Ok, the food is very good. Made correctly with high quality ingredients. What makes this place five stars is what you get for the price. The prices are very aggressive and it is one of the best deals in this part of Texas.
