Service was fair at first, however after one hour or so and appx $ 150 later for five ppl… Our waiter was very rude. Service quickly went down hill. The food took very long to come out.(It was a slow night, no more then 5 tables max). Our check was incorrect, after requesting for it to be corrected three times, we finally got a manager, he was fine. Manager stated that our waiter is one of their best waiter, made me think of what their worst waiters would be like, just saying. It was an awful experience overall that’s why I gave it a one star. For the cost, service is most important and of course the food should be amazing. Both was a disappointment. Too bad, location is great and ambience was lovely, it looked promising but it was a busy. Hoping to have a wonderful evening celebrate a milestone, instead we walked away disgusted. The food was fair. Not worth the price nor the service. The sushi had too much rice. We will not be returning. Hopefully the service will improve.

The food was Asian fusion. If you are a fan of American Chinese food, the orange chicken is actually good. The sauteed shrimp is highly recommended! Plus they have a decent wine selection and cocktail selection which is much better than the nearby restaurant Landry’s.

This is a very good sushi spot, and definitely one of my favorites in the Clear Lake are for special(non-traditional) rolls. The ambience is nice, the service is good, and it’s located at the fun and touristy Kemah Boardwalk. If you are a sushi snob, this is not the place for you. In fact, the only restaurant in the area I could even consider recommending would be Masa sushi(off of Nasa Rd in Webster). However, if you like the savory, Americanized rolls, Red Sushi is a must try.

My aunt invited me to go with her family to the Kemah Boardwalk during Spring Break. This was a fresh catch in my eyes since I have never seen this place here. I noticed signs and ads for RED as soon as we made our way into Kemah. I have to say the sushi was fresh and deserves a thumbs up. I wasn’t expecting too much since it was in Kemah, but it was a great pick to dine in. Surprisingly great tasting sushi at RED. I ordered sashimi and a cooked cut roll. Food was filling and service was absolutely perfect. We came in with a table of 5 and everything was taken care of by our waiter. He answered all of our questions and was friendly. I was surprised as how they handled the night because it looked pretty busy and as my cousins walked in and joined us, our party doubled in size. The staff went above and beyond to serve our party. I will return here again for fresh cuts of fish and sushi rolls. Next time, I would like to come during the day to see how the view would be through the windows. At night, I would say it was very dark. Only a few spotlights were lit at your table and oh, you will feel the heat waves from the hibachi. If you’re in the mood for sushi, pick up those chopsticks and prep that wasabi with soy sauce. That sushi is going to treat your tummy real good!

The service in this restaurant is amazing and the sushi dishes taste incredible! Great view from the window, if you like to see the boats sailing by you should reserve a table by the window. I totally loved it. 100% worth the price.

Horrible service! Was told 1.5 hour wait but there were four empty tables and an empty waiting area. Apparently they don’t need the patronage. Not worth the wait if this is a tell tale sign of the dining experience… Thank you for earning my first one star!

Overall, good anbiance, not too noisy. Dimmed light. Has nice view outside(see photo). But this restaurant doesn’t only serve Japanese food — it’s Asian Fusion. So not specialized in one — not the best place to get sushi, or Phở, or Chinese food. But can be a good mix for groups who like different Asian food. We ordered 3 from Specialty Rolls: White Dragon, Kemah & Firecracker. White Dragon was recommended by our server and the rolls turned out to be pretty good. Kemah roll didn’t have much flavor — but that’s because they only have avocado and snow crab in there. Not restaurant’s fault. But I expected Kemah to be more special because we’re in Kemah — you know. So the rolls which represent the area would be expected to be extraordinary. Firecracker was good, flavorful, not that spicy at all for those who question. Only thing is I thought the tempura part was pretty hard. They hurt my gums a little bit to chew this roll. But my friend loved it most out of all 3. Service was good enough. We had to wait for him to come around to get us more ginger though, didn’t check on us until later. But other than that, he was cool. Cons: Food Wait-time. We waited for quite awhile before our orders came out. Restaurant wasn’t packed at all. If the restaurant was busier, I would expect food to be out after at least 20 minutes.

Wow. This place takes #1 for best hibachi show I’ve seen so far. I haven’t been to Kemah since I was a kid and I was pleasantly surprised on what it’s become. We came to dine at Red and was so torn between eating or enjoying the boardwalk. Maybe we should have gone to Oktoberfest, but I digress. We came at about 8:45 and there was no hibachi seating available so we had to wait, which is understandable. Note that they do not take reservations or allow you to be put on a list and let you walk around until your name is called. You must be seated at the bar, in the restaurant, or in the waiting area. We took a seat at the bar and ordered drinks. I had the mango mojito and it was so delicious. Light on alcohol but packed with sugary goodness, and the mint wasn’t too overpowering. Great presentation as well. We were told that the wait was going to be shorter than expected, which happens all the time for us because we are patient! Turns out that there are only 4 tables and that night they had two chefs so they are not comfortable seating a table until a chef is free. I can totally respect that. Our table overlooked the water, and it was so serene to have boats floating by periodically. The waiter was a little apathetic, but not rude at all, probably was just a long night for him and the table was seated so late we would be there past closing. The restaurant catered to us anyway so long as we were seated there, no worries. For starters, can I tell you that the salad was so freaking good? The dressing was mayonnaise based and had sprinkles of tempura. It hit me in all the feels. The soup was decent, it seemed to have been beef based rather than fish based since it was so dark. We ordered a Vegas roll as an appetizer. This is where they lost a star. Definitely not as big as I was expecting for the price and I wasn’t a fan of the rice on the outside with panko breadcrumbs. Very mediocre sushi. Now for the hibachi show. We had a young, white chef who was amazing. Firstly, the red lighting does something to your optics to make everything look like it’s going at high speed. This guy’s tricks and jokes were delivering. He played with fire(actually touching it and not just lighting the grill), did knife tricks, he even tossed an egg yolk on his spatula. Who does that?! Extremely funny and entertaining. I definitely recommend him. As far as the food goes, some things could have been seasoned more such as the fried rice, but as far as vegetables and protein everything was fresh and that’s very important. Way too many times have I gone home sick from other places because one item on my plate was no longer good. I had the scallops with a side lobster and it was cooked PERFECTLY I cannot stress that enough. Not tough and chewy, perfect amount of spring and not underdone. I applaud this man for his passion for his craft. The S.O. had steak and shrimp and his items were fabulous as well. A woman at the table had a shellfish allergy, so I did have to wait some time to have my food cooked, but I think it’s awesome that they were able to cater to her without making a huge fuss of it. If you think I was done, nope. As the chef cleaned the grill and he talked to us and really promoted table conversation. Then he whipped out two torches and had a drum show. Torches. On fire. What? This is why he wins at best hibachi of my life. If you’re in Kemah looking for dinner and a show, come through.

Pleasantly surprised! I was meeting family in Kemah for the evening and decided to try out RED since the location was right by their hotel. I did not have high hopes since I have been let down by a lot of sushi restaurants in the Houston area but they did a great job creating tasty rolls! My favorite was the Sunset Roll :) An added bonus was out bartender entertained us with some pretty impressive magic tricks while we waited for our food. Give it a shot!

Very good location, and the atmosphere is really perfect. Staff is friendly, and the sushi is good. We shared a roll sampler, and it had a lot of out-of-the-comfort-zone specialty rolls(Philadelphia, crunchy, etc), but it was tasty. I also like that there were items specifically for kids. I haven’t run across a lot of places that do that.

We had our wedding reception in the private room at Red Sushi on June 27th. We worked with Jerry, the manager on our needs and food choices. First off, the view is awesome in the private room. Glass walls overlooking the Kemah Channel and Galveston Bay. Everything was taken care of exactly as presented to us. The food was fantastic! Many of our guests commented on the quality of the food. Jerry was on top of every detail. I saw him several times, overseeing the event personally. He was a pleasure to work with. If you want a worry free event, I highly recommend working with Jerry at Red Sushi

One of the best hibachi grills I’ve ever been to. Visited Kemah Boardwalk with family. It was our 2nd night and we chose this place bc the other spots had 2 hour waits. The kitchen manager(Mike) was very accommodating since we did not have reservations. They even accept the Landrys Select card which is awesome.

Great location, very nice inside, they also have a hibachi grill for families and kids. The services was flawless and two managers stopped by while eating to see how everything was. I ate at the sushi bar and look forward to coming back.

Note: I tried out this location during happy hour on a weekday. I had to wait for a passing train before descending the stairs. The staff was friendly, extremely polite, and very attentive! They laughed at my pitiable jokes, smiled gracefully at my lame teasing, and overall tolerated my presence exceptionally well. I give special thanks to Matt, Arielle, and Mike(manager). I started off with a mango mojito and edamame. They were scrumptious! The mojito was sweet and refreshing. The edamame was a perfect compliment with its saltiness and freshness. I chased them both down with some miso soup. It’s been a while since I had any and I wasn’t disappointed. There was quite a big of tofu! I opted to try the California roll, shrimp nagiri, and freshwater eel nagiri. While the CA Roll was good, the nagiri selection stole the show. As if all this wasn’t enough, I ate a big helping of steamed rice. Stuffed tighter than a sushi roll is packed, I paid my bill and continued my trek on the Kemah Boardwalk.

We had a large party of 9 and it took a while for all of our party to show up, but the manager was really flexible with our reservation and got things going really quickly and diligently. The waiter we had(Jay) was really courteous and always checked up on our group. He was really busy with another large parties but made sure we were happy. Our hibachi chef was very friendly and funny! The food was very good! I would recommend the tuna steak and the New York strip! For appetizer the calamari was very tasty as well! :) We also had a party member who had sushi(Hawaii roll) and she said it was fresh and tasted delicious. Overall this restaurant was very good and I’m very satisfied with the service and food! And the pricing was very reasonable!

My daughter’s choice for her birtday dinner at Kemah. Im giving the review for a twelve yr old Unilocaler. She enjoyed the lay out in her words very fancy. She tried the vegas roll and not a sushi fan but dad thought was good. She ordered the General Tso’s chicken which she thought was really good. I had the Phở which was not listed on the menu was ok but needed more meat. My girlfriend had the chicken Pad Thai and was not pleased by the dish she mentioned the noodles were not done correctly .The service I would say was excellent they checked on my daughter make sure she enjoyed her experience. Overall my daughter liked the restaurant.
