This review is solely based on Szechuan Garden delivery. We ordered last night for the first time and were very impressed with this place. The phone call to order was great, they were very attentive to the order, confirmed everything to make sure they got it 100% correct and gave us the wait time as I would expect. Their wait time was supposed to be 35 – 45 minutes. They were wrong, and for the better! It took 22 minutes from phone call to front door. The delivery man had a smile on his face and was extremely friendly. The food was great. We loved the Wonton soup and Sesame Chicken(Dark Meat). The Sweet and sour chicken was perfectly fried and although the fried rice was not the best that I have ever had… It was good. Overall bill was a little more than I am used to paying for a Chinese delivery dinner, but the food and service justified it. Will eat here again! Solid Performance and well deserved 4 stars.

This review is based on a Sunday evening visit when the restaurant was sparsely populated with customers. This isn’t your average Chinese hole in the wall. There is no lighted menu behind a counter and the menu is actually full sized, opposed to the little bi-folds everywhere else. The place is dimly lit and very roomy and comfortable. The Service: Excellent. Our hostess also waited on us(hand and foot). She was very pleasant and even put our orders in so that we could pay a slightly less«combination» price. The food: Good. The hot & sour soup is dark and rich. I couldn’t discern a lot of white pepper, neither did I taste the tang of vinegar, but it’s still delicious. Egg rolls are nice too. Mostly vegetables and fried nicely crisp with nary a drop of grease rolling down my forearm like so many other places. I had the garlic eggplant. It tasted fine, but there were too many water chestnuts in the mix. I will try this dish again and ask for merely eggplant and sauce. My daughter ordered beef & snow peas. I didn’t dare ask for a taste because she’s a germaphobe, but it looked divine and she said it tasted good. All in all, this is the best Chinese food I’ve found in the area(between here and La Porte). We will definitely be coming back.

We decided to try something new and ordered food online through their website. I received an order confirmation email and it said our food would be delivered in 30 – 45 minutes. When it wasn’t there in an hour, we tried calling the restaurant but the phone was disconnected. My husband went to the restaurant. They said Comcast took the phone and internet service away from them and they didn’t have an order from us. They asked if we wanted to place an order but it was way too late by then. Ridiculous!

We’ve enjoyed Carryout for years and were glad they reopened awhile after Ike. Don’t let the empty dining room worry you. Carryout is so popular that there is usually a constant stream of people at the register. The dining room is large enough for big groups and looks to be clean. And if you want a quiet meal, this looks like an ideal spot. The food we order is always prepared fresh and delicious. The staff is so sweet and helpful, they’ve never steered us wrong.

Overpriced, underwhelming, and a little something extra, We went on a Saturday night, and the dining room was almost empty: bad sign, We ordered hot and sour soup, and it was neither hot nor sour, just kind of bland. Sad. We are new to the area, and hoped to find something similar to what we left in Dallas. The eggrolls suffered from a similar lack of any real flavor. We tried the pork dumplings, and that was the highlight of the visit — they were good. My DH had the crispy duck — overcooked. I had the Sweet and Sour Shrimp, which was ok, but had three pieces of onion, two pieces of green pepper, and one tiny piece of pineapple. I like veggies, so that was sad. Then we got the fortune cookies, and that was the final strike. There was a weevil in mine. We won’t be back.

Ehh the food was only okay and a little over priced. The empty dining room at dinner time was a bad sign in the first place. The general tso’s chicken was offered with either white meat, dark meat, or mixed. I picked mixed(at an extra dollar that wasn’t mentioned). The white meat was flavorless, and there was wayyyy too much sauce. The fried rice(that costs extra) is completely plain. No onion, carrots… nothing. And the egg roll was terrible. I saved the best for last. as the hot and sour soup and crunchy wonton strips were delicious. The calendar they gave me with my take out is neat, I have it hanging in my kitchen. But sadly, I won’t be returning.

Wow first review! First a disclaimer — I’ve only ever done the take out here. But I’ve done it quite a few times so I can definitely speak to the food. This is my go-to take out Chinese place. The food — while perhaps not«authentic Chinese» — is delicious in the way take out Chinese should be. The lo mein is delicious, as are the cheese puffs(read crab Rangoon), the sesame chicken, fried rice and pretty much everything I’ve had there. And although the prices don’t look that cheap you get a HUGE amount of food. Everything I’ve gotten here lasts at least 3 meals. The lunch special looks like an even better deal. Additionally, the staff is has always been friendly and my food — regardless of what I order — is always ready in 10 minutes. All in all the perfect Chinese take out place!
