i read all the Unilocal reviews about this place and i didn’t find any consistencies so i had to try it for myself… my first visit(weekday lunch)…and you are probably thinking«are you out of your mind for giving this dive a 4 star!»…but i prepared myself in coming here and weighed in all the variables when reviewing and i stay with my 4-stars but i will visit this place several more times and revise my review accordingly… the place is clean(including the bathroom)…our server was(although i couldn’t understand the words that are coming out of his mouth) friendly and attentive… the buffet was $ 7.25(i’ve never been to a buffet that cheap!) — there were limited items, but what do you expect for 7 bucks… although, the place is called«aloha» the food is more asian mixed more so than hawaii… an example would be the pad thai i ordered(again cheap! at $ 4.95) and big portion… they did not have sriracha, tabasco, or lime/lemon(so bring these items with you here if you need them to chow)…the food was actually good and freshly made… don’t expect authentic hawaiian cousine… wear your flip-flops and ask to be seated by the fake silk banana tree, that way you can listen to the music of don ho, admiring that super-duper-large«iz» shirt while you chow down that loco moco…

By far the worse Chinese buffet I’ve ever had. Very few choices, no salad bar. Went at 1245 and they stopped stocking the buffet so even fewer things available. The empress chicken and pepper beef were sickly sweet, everything else was very dry including the steamed rice which was crunchy. The chicken had no flavor except oil as did the egg rolls. Very disappointed.

Not a big fan of this type food but it was a nice surprise I suggest with happiness the wonton soup. Might be some of the best around… We had the chicken with broccoli and it was good Nothing special but man that soup was good

Was skeptical after the name change(used to be Chinese Garden), but ended up being pleasantly surprised! Food was great and reasonably priced! Will definitely be returning!

Pretty decent food, more selections on menu than the online menu. But should’ve had A/C on for a hot day! Doesn’t help that I ate the Hunan fried rice, which was spicy. Would try it again though.

Seems like a nice family owned Chinese place with some Hawaiin dishes fused in. It doesn’t bother me at all since I grew up in a family that owned a Chinese resteraunt and have tasted food in Hawaii, Maui exactly. And the thing about Hawaii is that the food incorporates fusions from many different Asian cultures. The food we ordered was a Chinese dish, it was good and a nice bang for the buck. Overall I liked the place, but there are things I would do different to make it a place where I NEEDED to go.

I have tried this restaurant a handful of times since I have some family in the area for both delivery and dine in over the last couple of years. I first tried their Chinese menu a couple years back and love the Mongolian Beef and Shrimp in Lobster sauce. It was really good considering how picky I am about the authenticity of Chinese food. The restaurant has excellent ambiance and great customer service. Everything came out quickly and my waiter was very attentive. Recently they changed to a Hawaiian Chinese menu which was exciting(and not as strange as a combo as you think) coming back from visiting Hawaii earlier this year. My favorites are the loco moco and the Hawaiian BBQ chicken. Everytime I go back, they keep adding more to the menu which I can appreciate. Still the same owner so the same good customer service experience.

I have always enjoyed their Chinese dishes and recently tried their Pad Thai. Very good with tender chicken. May be my next favorite.

Food is an interesting Hawaiian-Chinese mix. I’m not a huge fan of sweet in my savory dishes and they have a number of options that have that so the menu is narrowed somewhat for me. A lot of food(including General Tso’s chicken) come with the one ingredient that I dislike: water chestnuts, so I have to special order. Prices are on par with others in the area. With overall average food and nothing that stands out why do I keep ordering from here??? Because of their Spicy Chicken Fried Wontons. Although not spicy at all, at $ 3.75 for 6 large wontons, they are awesome. In trying numerous Chinese take-out restaurants over the years I have never tried a wonton like this before. It is definitely something that you should not pass up. The other food, meh, hit or miss, I would give 2.5 stars but the Chicken Wontons definitely bump it up to 3.

Aloha and good-bye. I have to warn you that this review is about everything but the food. I have been craving Hawaiian food for weeks. When I stumbled across the name of this restaurant I got so excited. The family and I headed out there yesterday and well… Upon walking in there were two woman just standing at the front window and door waiting for customers. They excitedly greeted us and seated us at an odd space/table. The table was too short and if someone sat on one side of the table they would be able to pull up the to the table with no problems while the people on the other side were screwed. We asked for a high chair and what we got was a piece of wood that was ready to give out any minute. There was no way I was going to put my infant in that. My husband got up to go get another one but they were all stuck together. Not to mention sticky as heck! We managed to look past all of these issues until we looked at the menu. For a Hawaiian type name and theme there sure was a super small selection of Hawaiian meals. Needless to say we just didn’t waste our time. We left. I feel bad giving this place one star but here’s the reality I think if they remodel and update everything and add a bigger selection of Hawaiian food I would totally come back here to actually try the food. I just wasn’t interested in Chinese food… plus we didn’t see any buffet.

The girlfriend and I went here for dinner last week. I’ve been here when they were Chinese Garden, so I ordered the usual tried and true Mongolian beef. We also tried some of the new menu; the Hawaiian BBQ chicken was also delicious. Service was prompt and courteous. Also found out they deliver in our area. Will definitely be ordering in from them this winter when we need some comfort food!

Like the others have said, don’t be fooled by the trendy Hawaiian theme. I totally thought thais was going to be a Hawaiian restaurant until I looked it up on Unilocal.I went here on Tuesday with some coworkers for the $ 7 lunch buffet. We had worked up an appetite at a training and were famished. The buffet is very small and half the entrees had nuts. I cannot eat nuts. So I stuck to the cold noodle dish and the sweet and sour chicken. They also had crab Rangoon which was pretty excited. I was really disappointed that there was no soup. I think it is a better deal to order a lunch meal with a soup for $ 6.25. Now I know!

The business was originally called Chinese Garden and changed names to Aloha offering Hawaiian plates. Same owners since 1985. This restaurant has authentic chinese food accompanying authentic Hawaiian Lunch Plates. Nice combination. TAKEOUT –orders always correct. –orders always hot. –always arrive in a timely manor. EXCELLENTFOOD Loco Moco Chicken Chow Fun Shrimp with Lobster Sauce — lots of lobster Tempura shrimp Kung Pow Delight Sweet and Sour Chicken — breaded to prefection Pot stickers — they are good. I’ve had better. Home made orange sweet and sour sauce — excellent Kung Pao Chicken To be fair, there is a lot I have not tired on the menu’. I recommend it if you are looking for great tasting chinese food.

Aloha you fooled me! Judging by the name I was sure this was some new & awesome Hawaiian restaurant that had come to Schaumburg! Sadly, the mediocre Chinese restaurant that was in this location decided to revamp things but didn’t go all in. They redecorated the entire space and it looks great. They play Hawaiian sounding music and have surfboards & Hawaiian shirts on the wall. The overall look of the restaurant is very tropical and cool looking. The fun stops there. This is not a Hawaiian restaurant at all. It’s the same Chinese restaurant with the same Chinese items on the menu. In addition to their usual Chinese items, they have added some Hawaiian-ish items to the menu. I’d come back here to try another dish off of this small, select tropical menu but the majority of the items on their menu are still Chinese dishes. Even the dishes that are«Hawaiian», they just threw spam into them and think that makes it Hawaiian. I got the lunch buffet which is priced awesomely at $ 7, however there was not a single one of the Hawaiian items listed on their menu in the buffet. The buffet option includes all Chinese food only. I tried the sweet & sour chicken, eggroll, and a chicken dish without a nametag over it which were all tasty dishes. These three dishes were surprisingly good! Plus while I was up getting my first round of food, they brought out eggdrop soup. It was also tasty! For my second round I tried the Pepper Beef and Chicken Kow. I didn’t enjoy either of these dishes and found the Chicken Kow to be flavorless — I didn’t finish this plate. All in all, the buffet option is not bad. My friend ordered the Hawaiian sliders. This dish was quite bad… and it was sad because so much more could have been done to make this dish a winner! Sadface. The dish is three mini spam sliders with mayo & lettuce and sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were gross. They could have been great however they weren’t cooked all the way through. They were literally raw on the inside so it just was like eating an uncooked sweet potato. The spam in the sliders was also not cooked. It was grilled as I saw the blackened spam spots but it wasn’t cooked properly as it was completely raw also. It was as if the spam had come straight from the can. The sandwich was uninventive with the spam being thrown on a cold Hawaiian roll and with just lettuce and mayo on it. This dish could be great with a few changes… I would suggest some kind of signature sauce, fully cooking all ingredients in the dish and perhaps some kind of specialty bread. It leaves me unhappy knowing they opened a bag of buns and a can of spam to just slap the dish together. No special tweaks. The people here are so friendly and attentive — our water glasses were never left empty. I’m wavering between 2 and 3 stars for Aloha, and I think because of the service it was bumped up to 3 stars. I wish the food was better here and I wish they went all in on the Hawaiian theme. I left disappointed and am unsure if I’ll be back.
