Loved chana batura and tea My husband ordered masala dosa and vada, which were also good enough. Sambhar was good, however, chutneys were a disappointment

It has been two hours and I am still clenching my abdomen in pain after there Mother’s Day Buffett. Highlights Rasmali Lowlights Everything else but let’s not forget the undercooked Nan and the completely wrong sauce in the Tikka Masal. *Please note it is now 6 hours since we left this awful place and we’re still sick to our stomach’s*

The buffet has a good variety. Reasonable price. Attentive service. When they ran out of naan the waiter brought us a full plate of fresh naan to our table. Tried their mango lassi, not a big fan. Given their service, I’d give a 3.5 if possible. The food is fine, not amazing.

I enjoyed that lunch buffet served 7 days a week. I liked it very much that they put different items than the other restaurants. I really liked the rich tomato gravies on the chicken & goat. The other entrees weren’t very good sorry to say. Charge was $ 2 more than the other places i’ve been. I’m not that crazy about IDLIS… I will def be back!

Excellent south Indian food. My favorite dish is the papar masala dosha. I probably spelled it wrong. Quick friendly service. They even gave my kids lollipops. They also have a buffet which I didn’t get my others I was with said it was excellent. The tandoori chicken was average but everything else was good.

I have been here more than a couple times now, mainly because I live in the neighborhood. Now there are 3 things I like to consider fir every restaurant I go to to decide if it is good or not — food, ambience, service. Lets talk about food first, its good, above average. However, it is not the traditional udipi or udupi restaurant in India. Because that one is a vegetarian chain. The South Indian and North Indian food are both good, and non-veg dishes too. I went with a group and tried platters — both non veg and veg and both seemed pretty good, except the chicken was a little overcooked and hence dry. The curry and rotis were very good. Ambience — I wiuld say is somewhat better than most restaurants we see here, but I guess that depends on personal liking. Service — It is bad. Very slow, you have to keep asking for water and silverware and other essentials. So I would go back for the food but definitely not for the service.

This is 3rd time I am at this place. The food is good, specially south Indian food such as dosa. The service is below average. The water they serve was WARM, and when we ask for ice in water, we get LITTLE ice. The ice we get in soda at movie theater is more than the ice we got. You have to ask them every time… from water to napkins. They never came to our table for asking us, if we need any thing. When we walked in, only one other family was there, so restaurant wasn’t busy… and there were three persons walking around, one is waiter, and others may be manager and owner. And after few more family walked in during our dinner, we had even harder time to get the attention from the serving staff. So overall, if you like Indian food, you will get good taste here, but if you looking for the good service too, forget that here.

This was one of the worst Indian restaurants I have been to. The floors and tables at the restaurant were clean on the surface but I was wearing flip flops that kept sticking to the floor as I was walking(eww!!). Being from southern India, I was very excited to find a south indian restaurant. However, the food was very disappointing. The rasam soup tasted like water. The sambar that was served with the idlis was awful. These are basic south Indian dishes that they need to get right. I would never go back!

I found myself here at the Udupi Palace southern Indian cuisine for a birthday dinner since turning a ripe 36 years old on 9÷17÷15. I hadn’t had Indian cuisine for the longest time and thought, yeah, why not? I had been driving around Schaumburg for gas and literally had stumbled upon here thereafter looking for a place to eat. I happened to choose Indian cuisine as the choice to satisfy the birthday hunger pangs and this place seemed to fit the bill. The restaurant is supported by a large several retail businesses and parking lot, so parking isn’t really an issue here. I arrived here around 7pm on a brisk Thursday evening. The parking lot was kind of empty and I walked into the restaurant, which was also kind of empty. Just a couple of tables were occupied. Only when I had left with my take out order, a bunch of people entered the restaurant. The interior of Udupi Palace Indian restaurant was swanky and quite beautiful. Very clean and just aesthetically pleasing. The restaurant was quite large and the staff here were friendly for the most part. The overall experience here at Udupi Palace was rather quick, but it was nice and positive. Since I was ordering take out, not much can be said about service, but they offered me water to drink and the food came out within 15 minutes. Udupi Palace southern Indian cuisine is located at 730 E Schaumburg Road in the heart of Schaumburg village. They accept the major credit cards, so that’s always a plus. The prices here can be a little pricey, but you do get what you pay for and it was a decent, but delicious meal for me. It ain’t that bad actually if you eat out a lot. I eventually took my order and had it in my hotel room while watching tv, while being obviously immune that it was my birthday night… I ordered the lamb tikka, which was a slice of wonderful. Definitely haven’t had Indian curry for a while and that just hit the spot. It was served with Indian rice and I ordered 2 orders of garlic naan. The Lamb tikka was delicious and just satisfies me, but I wished I could have made it just a tad more spicy, just to keep it interesting. The mix with the rice was a complete meal for anyone. The garlic naan was a good compliment on the meal, but at $ 2.50 per order, it’s kind of okay, but not cheap either. The meal was decidedly nice and quiet, considering that I ordered take out. Happy that I came here for some Indian cuisine. I felt that I could have done better with dining in, I guess this time will have to do. Maybe next time will be different, if I return to Schaumburg, IL again. I’d recommend this place, if you were craving Indian food, but it was just a good, positive, but decent experience. Maybe it’ll be good next time for sure. Food was good though. Support local! B

Pathetic food. Never coming here again. Lamb pulav was served instead of lamb biryani. Duh… I am from Hyderabad, I ate biryani’s for years I know when I eat one. Veg thali was as bad as railway food back in 80’s if you know what I mean. Ordered Aloo parotha for my kids– 2 year olds & specially requested for non spicy. My kids started crying as they put one piece. On double checking they gave exactly opposite to what I asked. It had black peppers and green chillies. Overall bad cook & management

Several weeks ago, after a grueling day of work, walks, and whining, my bff, husband and I headed out to Udupi for Indian food. When I go out for Indian, I’m usually going to the lunch buffets because they’re cheaper than dinner and offer a variety of dishes to choose from, which was especially helpful when I am not as familiar with a cuisine. But we had been to Udupi once before and had gotten a dosa which is a crêpe stuffed with a different fillings. I am not sure where else to get this delicious goodness around Schaumburg. We ordered two kinds of dosas as appetizers, one with potatoes and onions, the other was cheese. The cheese dosa was unbelievably good. If there’s such a thing as Indian pizza, that would be it. We also ordered individual dishes whose names I’m always going to misspell, so I’m going to be lazy and just give you the description. There was lamb in red cream sauce, potato and vegetables in red cream sauce, and then my dish, which was supposed to be spinach in not-red-cream sauce. I am good with mildly spicy food, which is the description for what the others ordered, but mine was described as spicy. I asked my server if they could make it no spice and he said that he would try and that it might be mild, which was fine. So our food comes out and my dish is spicy. Not mild spicy, super hot spicy. Like twice as spicy as the other dishes, which my BFF and my husband didn’t mind, but I just couldn’t handle. Part of the way through the meal the server comes back and asks me if it is okay; I tell him I can’t handle the spice and he tells me that he’s so sorry and would be happy to replace it. He meant it too, but by that time I was full and the others were eating it so I didn’t really care. When the bill came, I was surprised to see that he hadn’t charged me for my entrée! I thought that was outstanding customer service, especially since I hadn’t asked for anything. He honestly just wanted us to have a good experience and did all he could to make sure that it happened. Thanks for making my night, friend. You’re the type of person who makes me want to do business with your business.

I had the lunch buffet here. The food was bad. Never again. Only decent option there was the mini dosas. Apart from that everything was below par. Idlis were hard, sambar was more like water, and the deserts were really really bad. I’m a vegetarian so I don’t vouch for the non veg options. I strongly recommend people not to try out this place(least of all the buffet)

I am a south indian. first of all udupi restaurants are vegetarian only. This is the only udupi restaurant where meat is served. Second the south india dishes are pathetic. Third even north indian food is pathetic. They are spoiling udupi brand. The chef/cook doesn’t know how to cook north or south indian food. He is probably a bangladeshi cook. I would recommend if restaurant doesn’t serve tasty food, they don’t deserve to exist. I would never ever go. Food review from buffet I had today: 1. Idly’s are made from previous day rice. If you drop them on floor it would bounce, they were so hard 2. Vadas are so pathetic, dry and hard too. 3. North indian curries are filled with ketchup.

I’m giving UDUPI! But I’m still going to rate you a five star! PLEASE take my review into consideration! AWHILEAGO 1. Food was out of this world. Hot, large portions you can take home and eat later! Who doesn’t want to take food home to snack on later. Their onion and garlic naan was huge and cooked to perfection. We would always order the Chicken Tikka Masala. Always outstanding and the flavor was consistent and the waiters were always friendly and attentive. CURRENT 1. Portions are very small. Food tastes as if it were prepared in advance. The onion and garlic naan are small and crunchy like a cracker. The flavor is never consistent and your lucky if your waiter comes and fills your glass and if they do, it’s always with ½ melted ice cubes. I also noticed the bathrooms are kinda looking and smelling like an outhouse. UDUPIPALACERESTAURANT We are not giving up on you yet. If you are reading this, please take my post and others posts seriously before you have to close the doors. If you manage this restaurant like you did in the past, you’ll be sitting on a little gold mine. Your food is never consistent. Small portions for the money we spend. Water is filled, but with almost melted ice cubes. Customers like cold water, not almost room temperature. The garlic and onion naan should not be burnt and crispy. If you are new management or purchased this restaurant, can you please revert back to the original recipes that were left when you purchased this restaurant. If you are still the original owner, what the heck happened? Please change or there will be a point I will no longer come in. In the event you do change, please notify me through this review and I’ll be more than happy to get a group of people to come in and eat. Ohhh, one last thing — your buffet is also a nightmare. The quality has took a nose dive along with the taste. Thanks for listening.

I can’t give this place more than 3 starts because the heater was broken in the middle of the winter! Come on people, it’s the middle of winter & you’re in the Midwest, this is not acceptable. Even the staff had on huge jackets. Ok, rant over. The food was decent but the servers and manager(maybe owner) was super nice. Started with a fried apps sampler, everything had a great crisp, esp the potato patties. For dinner, I got the rava onion masala dosa. It was different than I had before, but the potato stuffing wasn’t great. My cousin got the butter chicken, and it was a bit on the sweet side. I noticed that about a few things. Naan were hot & fluffy. Sambhar was plentiful. Parking was easy since it’s a strip mall. And they have a coat hanging area at the enterance.

The wonderful & always polite Mr. Ram is gone, & without his management, the food & service have declined sharply. The owners are not vegetarian & either is the restaurant(their other locations, in MD& Chicago, which I have been to, are pure vegetarian). The employees are treated very poorly, often right in front of the customer, & if you happen to meet the owners, they are very unfriendly. The food was really good years ago, but I can no longer make that statement.

What a pleasure to visit a restaurant where they know how to treat a guest. My son chose Udupi Palace in Schaumburg to dine for his 23rd birthday. I’m somewhat new to Indian Food and learned that Udupi foods are vegetarian. But, Udupi Palace offers some for those of us who are carnivores. But, even with the interesting and mysterious meat offerings, we all chose vegetarian dinners. The portions are very large, and come on large plates, so we chose to eat family style. We tasted some of everyone’s dinner. I had what amounted to a large rice and wheat flower pancake with onions, potatoes and green chilis. This was quite hot and not for the faint of heart. My wife had an Indian crêpe stuffed with potatoes. It was enormous — close to a foot long. Both kids had curries — Jon had chick pea and Sarah had their vegetarian curry. The food was really good. Having a food allergy, I always special order and this can cause poor service. This was not the case here. The manager, an older gentleman(and I use the word gentleman properly) helped immensely. He pointed out what I could and could not have, and offered to make some of the other dishes in ways I could eat them. It was truly service with a smile and we will most certainly return. Oh, this was my third visit.
