I enjoy Café Joelle — I go for the oyster appetizer, «Baked Oysters Arizona» spinach, bacon, onions and hollandaise sauce every time we are here, delicious! They call it cajun sauce, but I don’t find it at all spicy hot. They do fun things like Mardi Gras and Oktoberfest menus too for seasonal events.

Came here for dinner one night. 45 min wait for Five Point Burger around the corner so we decided to give Café Joelle a try. Food portions are decent, flavor not bad. I had the braised beef and my wife had penne ala vodka. Vodka sauce was much different than I had ever seen. Very light on the cream with chunks of prosciuto, tomato and onion. Rice pudding was topped with a mound of whipped cream. Maybe they ran out of rice pudding so they used whipped cream to make it look bigger. By the way, fountain soda is priced per cup and not a free refill. Cup was probably no bigger than 12oz packed with ice. Who charges for extra glass of fountain soda these days???

I’ve only had brunch here but it was fantastic! I was excited about the variety on the brunch menu. I had the eggs oy vey which is like Benedict but it’s poached eggs with smoked salmon on top of potato pancakes with a creamy white sauce. It was really fantastic! The mimosas had plenty of champagne which was nice. Our waitress was really nice and attentive as well. Overall I’d recommend it for brunch and I look forward to trying it for another meal next time I want to eat out locally!

Wish I could give these guys an actual food review but I never got to eat. I called café Joelle on a Saturday night to make reservations, they say they don’t take them but there is currently no wait. My boyfriend and I head down there, get there and now there’s a forty minute wait, fine. We agree to wait and walk towards the back to the tiniest bar area I’ve ever seen. It consists of a bar, enough standing room to be 2 people deep in line and a wall directly behind that, we couldn’t even move. We stood at the end of the bar for 25 minutes without even being acknowledged so we gave up figuring we only have another 15 to wait anyway, right? Nope. 40 minutes comes and goes, we watch everyone that came in after us get seated before us. After an hour we looked rather annoyed(it is now 845 pm and we are famished) and at this point the bartender asks if we would like anything, after an hour! The hostess assures us we’re next, then calls a party of 3, then a party of 6 that showed up 10 minutes prior to be seated… at this point we walked out. After an hour and 10 minutes. No one apologized or anything, just looked away while we quietly exited even though we wanted to scream. Get your shit together. Regardless we won’t be returning.

Small, quaint place. Good food and nice staff! If you’re in the area, a must try place. This is the sister restaurant of pasta pasta in Port Jeff and is just as good. It doesn’t have the greatest curb Appeal but the food is legit.

Well… we went in for brunch a few weeks ago on a rare Sunday where my husband was not working. I had been meaning to try the place for some time. When I read the brunch menu on line the thing that caught my eye was the filet mignon eggs Benedict. I saw that and we were in the car within five minutes. The place has no parking so thats a pain – but no big deal its a nice pleasant stroll through Sayville on a summer day. The inside of it is kind of cute and then kind of… outdated looking. There is this one big wall sconce type of flower holder with a giant burst of crusty looking fake flowers and stuff on the main wall. It was very 1987 and ugly. I couldn’t help but stare at it and picture what I would do with that wall instead. It has décor potential but right now it suffers. The service was top notch. Nice guys, who read your mind and can almost predict you’ll dribble juice down your chin and swoop in with a napkin. Excellent service it is part of the stars I gave(in fact the service was the reason for a 4th star) My filet mignon eggs Benedict was GREAT. I loved it. My husband also loved his eggs ranchero sort of plate(I forgot the name) Then came dessert. I was super amped they had crème brûlée. As soon as it hit the table I knew something was wrong. It was in a big oval side dish sized casserole plate, looked nicely seared but had a ton of powdered sugar all on it. Why put sugar on sugar? Made no sense. I clinked tested the brûlée my spoon on the brûlée crust and it made a loud click click sound not a delicate clink sound– why? because it was as thick as car window glass. It was almost impressive. It had great color but shattered like a broken window. I needed a pick ax —Underneath was runny eggy tasting custard to mix with the super over sweet glass sugar shards and powdered suger. I was like eww. Not crème brûlée. Oh well, I know not to do that again lol. The cool part was that the waiter genuinely was concerned about how I felt about it so I was honest the food was great but the dessert was atrocious and I told him why. our waiter was so nice that it redeemed the brûlée thing for us Overall not so bad– needs a little fresh décor update and to remove that Brûlée from the menu so nobody gets cut on it… but everything else was great.

Went here for lunch with my girlfriend today for the first time. Décor is bland at best with numerous mirrors for filler on the walls. If I wanted to watch myself eating, id rather go to pizza night at Jazzercise. Onto the food, my g/f had the Grilled Vegetable Sandwich which she loved. I had the Seafood Stuffed Ravioli which i though was good as well. The ravioli wasnt nearly stuffed with seafood as it was cheese but the pink shrimp sauce and 4 shrimp made up for this. Service wasnt bad as they were quick and attentive on a busy lunch hour. But the one issue I had was when I asked the server for refills for my g/f and I, he told me there are no free refills. Which is fine, nothing in this world is free anymore but when you serve 8oz soda out of a bar gun for $ 2.00 I feel like im getting ripped off. I paid $ 8.50 for 4 gun drinks at that size. Enough said. I would have given 4 stars but that coca-cola left a bad taste in my mouth.

The food is very good, a little pricey but still very good. The service is awful and neglectful and I’ve never in over 20 times that I’ve been there ever had my glass refilled or additional napkins given. If they do come around to offer a slice of bread from the basket that they hold on to they don’t come back around again. And some of the wait staff have been downright rude

I have never had a worst dinning experience then i have the other day eating here. Our waiter took over 20 minutes to refill my grandmothers ice tea. The waiter never asked i had to ask him. My grandmothers penne ala vodka was absolutely horrible. It was as if they did not drain the pasta and it was cold. My grandmother did not want to say anything but when he asked if he could get us anything else i spoke up and the waiter began to become very rude and just walked away from me. I got to ask for a manger and he told me to go and sit back down. When she came over i tried to explain to her how rude my waiter was and about the food. She said that everyone always like that dish. I had told her she has had it before and liked but this time it was not ok. She then started to become rude to me as well. I have worked in the restaurant industry for over 17 years now and would have been fired if i treated my guests in such a manor. I would never return to this restaurant. It was by far my worst dinning experience ever i would if i could give this restaurant no stars at all

Great little New American /Parisian inspired café in downtown Sayville that satisfied with its very good food. We tried the humorously named«Eggs Oy-vey» a playful twist on an eggs Benedict with a latke and nova substituted for the English muffin and ham. Just terrific. Eggs Rancheros were almost as good, although they could’ve used a bit more salsa, and my scrambled eggs didn’t come as requested. Still quite tasty. Stroll though downtown after you eat to burn those calories.

For a local rest this place for the most part is consistent, quiet and reasonably priced. They do make good martinis. The soups are good and the specials i will say hit or miss. Service always good. Love Sayville. Neptune salad fan favorite and the shrimp vodka and goat cheese hmmmm

Haven’t been here in a long time and happy we tried it again! The food was delicious! This place was always a neighborhood favorite about 10 years ago. We stopped coming because the food seemed ordinary and wasn’t exciting to us anymore. Well, we returned with friends last week and were glad we did. We had great tasting meals! I ordered the fish of the day(Grouper) with the sweet pea risotto and vegetables. Delicious! I like the option of having any of their fish prepared anyway you like. This was exceptionally good grilled. Sweet Pea risotto was not mushy which can sometimes happen with risotto. It was an excellent choice. My husband had the Roast Pork Pizziola, with onions, mushroom, and roasted red potatoes. He was very happy with his choice as well. We will definitely be coming back. My only complaint about this place is the noise level. After 10 years they still haven’t addressed it. The high metal ceilings and long narrow orientation of the room makes this one of the noisiest restaurants to me. I want to tell the owners to please put up some sound absorbers(whatever that can be) to quiet this place down! Please!

Yay for updating a review. I have to say despite what happened almost a month ago I can now trash my resentment. Went for lunch today since it’s my mom’s birthday weekend and boy. I have to say maybe Café Joelle isn’t the place to eat for dinner but lunch. Again they know how to win this foodie over at lunch. I even got accommodated today. I didn’t realize they changed their lunch menu until I looked and they removed one of my favorite sandwiches. The sliced steak sandwich — something so delicious and flavorful and something I always go back to. I was at a toss up before the waiter came over and advised me they still make it and they could make it for me. Score! You just won me over again Café Joelle. Bravo Café Joelle! They had a buffalo chicken soup today that sounded mighty yummy but since I was getting my sandwich I knew I wasn’t going to have room for soup and the sandwich. When our order came out everything was delicious and perfect. Fries were EXTRA good today. I’m not a fry girl by any means but certain places you just have to get the fries and this is one place you do not want to miss the fries. Such as European Republic(only had it once and I still have a hankering for ‘em and their delish dipping sauces). Thank you for reassuring me today Café Joelle you’re still top notch. Maybe I’ll be back to give you another shot at dinner.

Great specials and rich flavors! Open for brunch on the weekends as well as lunch and dinner, this intimate spot on Sayville’s semi-sleepy Main Street is a local’s secret. Pasta night is a steal with three courses at just $ 14(Mondays and Tuesdays), which includes innovative, hearty combos like grilled pork, shittake, and spinach in a brandy cream sauce(delish) and shrimp and spinach in a plum tomato sauce topped with a generous hunk of goat cheese. Salad is thrown in for the price, as is a nice selection of fresh breads. The prix fixe menu is generous as well, with a very fair selection of great desserts. They keep out a dessert sample tray so you can order from this real-life«picture menu»(as my husband calls it!). Anyway, the prix fixe is available Sunday through Thursday for $ 25. Must-try apps are the wasabi and General Tao’s calamari, drenched generously with both sauces, and the stuffed clams are always juicy. The filet mignon quesadillas sound awesome(«with caramelized onions, roasted corn, cheddar cheese and smoked mozzarella, finished with a chipotle-lime aioli»), and I can’t wait to check that out for myself. The stuffed chicken breast entrée is a calorie-laden flavor bomb, and there’s always fresh fish on the menu, which is nice. On the regular menu is a wide selection of Continental cuisine, including German dishes like sauerbraten and weinerschnitzel, as well as the usual French– and Italian-inspired offerings. The Neptune Salad(crab cocktail and shrimp) is refreshing as a good summer salad, while the Almond-Crusted Chicken salad with their house creamy raspberry dressing, is addicting. Unfortunately, the salads are on the smaller end, and if you ask for extra lettuce, they charge you for a FULLSIDESALAD — $ 4 for a tiny plate of just greens! Another outstanding dish is their six-cheese tortellini in a cream sauce, topped with lobster. There’s pretty much half a lobster sitting atop your tortellini, and it can’t be beat. Brunch is affordable, and the portions are generous. The Belgian waffle with apples and pecans attempts to be refined, but comes just short. Which is not to say that it’s not tasty — it just tries a little too hard. The waffle itself is fluffy and sweet, and leaves nothing lacking with a dose of their warmed syrup. Quiche of the day is always a pleasant surprise, and they do their Benedicts pretty well. This is one of my go-to restaurants, and I enjoy going there every time. Quiet, intimate, and with tin-roof accents, this little place has plenty of character and is not afraid to bust out in full flavor at a good price.
