I tried the Avocado, Turkey and Tuna subs and they were all amazing. Still, the Avocado one was by far the best sandwich I’ve had in my life. The place is not fancy, but don’t let that deceive you.

We stumbled on this place while wandering the streets on San Francisco. It is a small, classic mom-and-pop sub shop that takes great care in crafting and toasting your sandwich to perfection. There are only a few tables to sit inside but it is cozy and clean. This was easily one of the best sandwiches I have had in many years and I highly recommend adding it to your lunch list when you’re in the area! I am already craving to go back!

Amazing subs! Best counter style subs in town I think. They do Toasted to order in a small oven and makes for an epic toasty bread on outside with a mayo/Italian dressing softer inside with veggies on top and can add avacado too. I am addicted to the turkey and provolone. small shop front so it’s sometimes easy to miss it.

I gave them one star last time but this place turned around: got a large teryaki sanchwich on a soft roll with Avocado($ 14). Expensive but delicious and fresh. Also got a brownie(low expectation, figured it would be a wewk old but it was fresh and moist). Shows you need to give 2nd chances once in a while…

A solid toasted sandwich shop. I got a small pastrami sandwich with a beer. I must say the bread is excellent. Now I would say to earn a 5th star they would need to put a lot more meat in their product. If you are looking to fill your carb craving this chains isn’t too bad. Reminds me of a mom and pop quizno.

I just moved in a block away and am so excited to make this joint my new casual go-to. Ten bucks for very solid toasted subs. Their namesake sandwich features pastrami, ham and salami, but the best part is their toasted sesame bread — the perfect amount of crunch. Service is a little cold but adequate, same goes for the décor and seating. Caution: there are great looking cookies tempting you at each visit so be prepared to indulge!

Great toasted subs. Chicken teriyaki is really tasty. Place is nothing fancy with only a couple of tables but convenient for take out. It’s never really too crowded either which is nice. They do offer wheat bread on request but it’s only with a small sub. The credit card minimum is $ 10.

Awesome fresh sandwiches, their viking sandwich is extremely tasty. A word to the wise, do tell them if you do not want mayonaise or mustard since it is going to come by default on some of their sandwiches. Their pricing is dead on, especially if you order their foot longs which consists of two six inch sandwiches. I was able to get 4 six inch sandwiches and two 20 oz sodas for $ 27. Buying this way is well worth it.

My boyfriend always brings me the best sammiches from here after I work. Looks grimy from the outside, but I guarantee it has no affect on the sandwiches and how they are handled. I usually get the turkey avocado for around 11 dollars. Super stacked meat with toasted bread and melted cheese. Really good sandwiches but could be priced cheaper. They put like Italian dressing– or something like it that tops the sandwich off. Friendly and fast service.

I have been coming here every time we come to the city, nothing changes!!! The best turkey sandwich you will find anywhere. The place doesn’t look like much on the inside or the outside, but oh boy are they good sandwiches! Too hard to explain, you just have to try them!

TOASTEDSANDWICHHEAVEN!!! I’ve been privledged to been having Viking sandwiches since I was a kid. Even before I lived in SF my family would make a special stop to grab a bite at Viking. We love it so much we even tried to recreate it at home. Okay yes this place is nothing fancy, service is usually crap but I just love the toasted sandwiches so much that I ignore the negatives. Ive only had the veggie options but its one of my fav sandwiches EVER! If youre in the area def give it a try!

Tasty sub! … More like tasty toast. I love a good toasted sub but the only thing good thing about it was the bread. I ordered the mighty Viking. There was barely any meat in this $ 10 sando!!! One slice of each meat came to a total of 4 slices. So damn thin, was still hungry. #Hangry

Read good reviews on Unilocal, went for the first time. Got Chicken Teriyaki Sandwich. Holy christ it was gross. I have no idea what kind of meat was in that thing, but I really doubt it was chicken. And I paid $ 11.50 for what amounted to a toasted mystery meat log. Man…

Don’t let the appearance of this place sway you, it’s a great sandwich, toasted, breads great, ingredients are fresh. I’d recommend it to anyone.

Great things come in small packages. This place by no means is pretty, but they definitely know how to make an amazing sub! The bread they use is always toasted to perfection and everything taste super fresh. I recommend the sausage, pastrami or the turkey sub. I give the owners a ton of credit as they are always so slammed during lunch hours, but are just so damn nice. This place kills it.

If you are looking for vikings in this place, you are going to find yourself as disappointed as a Minnesota Vikings fan every year. If you are looking a for a hole in the wall kind of place across the street from a BART station to grab a quick meal, this is what you are looking for. The key is to keep your expectations low. You come here for food, expect nothing more or less and you will be satisfied. I went for the fish and chips, it wasn’t anything special, but more than good enough both taste and portion wise that I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here again if I am in the neighborhood. For a mainstream suburbanite sellout like myself, these underground small mom and pop shops are one of my favorite things about SF.

I had the«Italian» sausage. It was a little bit difficult communicating that I wanted marinara to the guy that was taking my order, but the gal making it understood me. The flavor was a bit«sub”-par ha ha, but I’ll come back to try something else. The bread might have been good if it weren’t soppy. The sausage was not spicy or even Italian sausage for that matter. I get the sense the place is geared towards the locals who likely get a steep discount. However it was close to my hotel, so maybe worth it.

Prepare yourself before going in: it’s pretty creepy inside and unkept. If it wasn’t for the Unilocal reviews I never would have stepped inside of this place. But the sub I got was actually pretty incredible, and I will return again. Since then I’ve been in many times and always get a great sandwich at a decent price. The 10 minute parking out front is handy for pick-up orders too.

I’ve come in here 4 times in the last week to try out their subs during lunch. Food: +Chicken teriyaki– probably my favorite of the bunch. Tons of flavorful chicken. All of their subs are toasted but I don’t like that they add the lettuce before toasting. It only makes it soggy. :/ +Crab Salad– WAYTOOMUCHMAYO. It dripped all over my shirt and pants. fail. the crab is there but the mayo/sauce is overpowering. +Turkey– basic turkey sandwich Service: It’s what appears to be a husband-wife team taking orders and making the sandwich. Not too friendly but they make their sands the way you’re supposed to. Ambience: Tiny store stuffed into Lombard Street. Only a couple of tables so I always take it to go. –Hungry Hungry Pongy
