The woman behind this immaculate shop is Peggy. Peggy has impeccable taste & curates accordingly. She makes regular buying trips to China. Furniture, wall pieces, jewelry, art. It’s all here. Her dedication goes deeper than the inventory; she’s impressively knowledgable & can give you the complete history of a piece, right off the cuff.
She’s also very sweet.

I have been visiting Peggy and her shop for 15+ years and it is always a learning experience! She is knowledgeable, enthusiastic and sharing in describing items, many of which you can’t find elsewhere. What I have bought was always ‘one of a kind’ and something that was worth more than just the price as she would tell the history, background and cultural significance of each item. Ken

This is a wonderful store full of one of a kind antiques (jewelry, kimonos, statues, etc.) The owner is extremely knowledgeable about the pieces she offers and has a real passion for antiques. I bought three antique jade pendants and a beautiful pearl necklace I love wearing them and knowing that I own a piece of history. Thank you, Peggy, I’ll be back.

Several years ago, I bought a beautiful reverse glass painting of The Three Happinesses, a one hundred year old piece that Peggy had recently brought back from her buying trip to China. It is beautiful and unique, the colors amazing. The price was more than reasonable. The problem was to get it back to New York City. Peggy does not ship and at first I thought it would be no problemo… there’s a Post Office one block over. Well… shipping it was a big problem and a really expensive problem. And a time consuming problem particularly since I was visitning SF for a brief stay.
Overall, Peggy’s inventory is interesting and well curated. There’s no junk, no kitzy stuff, not a Hello Kitty in sight. Each time I visit SF, I make a point of dropping into her shop. If Peggy were able to ship, she would earn a well deserved five stars.

First off, when you walk into her shop you immediately can tell this place is not your average «antique shop» like the cheap places in Chinatown. Second off, once you talk to Peggie, you realize that her knowledge of her inventory goes far beyond just the individual piece, but her historical knowledge is fantastic.
Her front window is always perfectly set up to showcase the different Chinese antiques that are on display. Her inventory is unique and diverse, from the antique Chinese dresses to her modern jewelry collection. While I have never purchased anything from her store, my Dad has some of her items in his apartment and he loves them.
I go to Peggy for all my jewelry needs and she designed me an amazing ring just 2 weeks ago! If you want a custom piece done she is the person to do it as her creativity and knowledge of jewelry is unmatched. She will literally make you feel like family as she shares an excitement for the pieces she creates.

The Enchanted Store is a quaint antique store with all sorts of exquisite pieces (from what I’ve seen) of Asian culture. From the essential Chinese Wall-​Scroll paintings, to beautiful jewelry. Peggie, the owner, is a really energetic, lively, and nice woman. She is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English. The ambience has that old-​antique feel to it, and when I came in here for the first time, I saw one of those counter-​sized gongs sitting there, and the whole time I was chatting it up with her, I was tempted to go and hit the sucker. But alas, common sense took over, and I knew more than likely that that would have been a bad move. And while I was only visiting the store, if I was into antiques, this would be a great place to peek your head into.
The location is very nice. It’s tucked away in a little corner of North Beach, distanced away from the touristy-​hustle of Chinatown, but with the sweet melodies from the open restaurant Savoy Tivoli. Parking may be a bit of a pain on certain days, but it is worth the drive if you do come by car. Though it is VERY VERY convenient to take public transit since it is at the heart of the city. But don’t buy any expensive antiques and expect to take it home via that route!
