Living in the city, most of my weekdays are spent at Happy Hours. Sad but true. One day, a friend and I decided to venture out of our normal HH joints and try something new. It was right around the time where someone at work told us about a place called SOMA. It was on the same corner as Westfield and offered an array of items with a cheap price tag. The impression I got from this place when I first walked it was that the décor was definitely outdated. It looked like an old school Italian or steakhouse joint. Sometimes the best places are the ones who are tangled in the aesthetics so I wasn’t about to judge a book by it’s cover. Here’s what I got for happy hour –They offer some great wines for $ 3.50, red or white –Clams and mussels for $ 8.95. Great deal! Garlic, capers, olives, parsley tomato and white wine accompany this dish so yes, it’s packed with flavor –Hummus for $ 3.95. Good price but a little bland. Pureed garbanzo beans, lemon tahini sauce and pita bread –French Fries for $ 2.95. Just your average fries! -(2) Sliders for $ 5.50. The sliders came with cheddar cheese and a pickle. Again, just your average sliders, nothing really stood out. –Margherita pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella and basil for $ 8.95. I liked the flavors of this dish, probably the second best items, aside from the mussels and clams. Overall the experience was OK. I would definitely come back on another HH as the prices are great but don’t really expect things to pop out at you, flavor wise. You get what you pay for!

This so deserves at least 4 stars. We accidentally found this place after trying to get to an über popular place that was totally booked and not worth the effort. Opted to just drop in here. Great vibe. Not a lot of people when we first arrived. Totally relaxed environment with a mix of clientele. The crowds soon came. Reminds me of a nice neighborhood restaurant/bar. Staff quick to get us drinks, water and order. Refreshed often. Service was really nice. We started with a shared a spinach salad. It was fresh, lightly dressed and excellent. Got a table near the bar to watch the Stanford/uSC game. Perfect. Ordered for our main the lamb kabob and spaghetti and meatballs. All were so good. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly and the meatballs tender and soaked in marinara sauce. This was really good. This is just a great place for a relaxed unpretentious meal. I would highly recommend it especially if you are going to a show downtown. We are off to the Marrekesh for a night of magic.

Happy hours!!! We had pizza here — it was alright. Nothing special. But the staff is great and drinks are great too. Brilliant location and clean bar.

This is a nice clean place, with good food, great drinks and football at the bar. The atmosphere is really soothing, thanks to the Mediterranean music and the ladies are beautiful! If in San Francisco, this is definitely a good spot to come and enjoy a good time.

Food: Shared a few appetizers here. Tzatziki with pita bread(the fact it was toasted was nice, but the edges were burnt), clams and mussels(very fishy), crispy falafel, and a thinly sliced beef appetizer(this one was delicious). Ambiance: Nice atmosphere. There’s a separate bar area for happy hour, but you can see the TVs from the tables so we were able to watch the World Series and basketball game. Service: Not the worst, but not great. They cleared our plates quickly when empty, but never refilled the water and our waitress was difficult to find.

I’ve been here several times for lunch. I usually get the same thing so I cannot speak on the rest of the food. I really like the Mezze platter – its yummy! I’ve had the lentil soup too and liked it. I hadn’t been there in a couple months and went yesterday for my mezze fix and the waiter remembered me. He was sweet and asked if I worked around there and I said yes so he gave me a discount. Now I will say there have been times when the service there was questionable, but yesterday it was good. I like this place, but I have not tried much else on the menu.

The food was ok, but the kicker was the 18% service charge(tip) when the service was sub-par – for only two of us. For the service, I could have picked up my food from the serving window myself… would have arrived much sooner. Eat here if you want to pay the 18% entitlement fee for a party of two!

My date and I unexpectedly walked past Soma and was instantly intrigued with their happy hour sign. We walk in and they greeted us instantly, they had a table in the bar and asked us immediately what we wanted to drink. They have $ 4 house white and red wine, bottled and draft beer and $ 5 martinis. We ordered the house wine and it was pleasantly delicious. We ordered off the happy hour food menu: $ 4 hummus, beef and bruschetta. The food was delicious. They were fairly good with attention to our table, although it got busy and short staffed. The ambiance is dark lighting, night pub style seating and semi quiet guests. All in all, one of the BEST happy hours I have been to right off Powell. Must go. Perfect for an after work date.

I came into this restaurant on my lunch and out of curiosity because I pass it up everyday going to work. It is a nice little place right on the corner close to my job. You get greeted and seated pretty fast for downtown San Francisco. I got to choose where I wanted to sit and felt comfortable. I don watch tv so the fact you had to sit at the bar to watch Tv didn’t really bother me. I ordered a cheeseburger so I felt bad I didn’t try any of their popular menu dishes so I decided to leave a good review. Would’ve been more happy if I got a refill on my water but it’s okay they probably had a lot going on. But my burger was actually good and tasted fresh

My coworkers and I went here for happy hour recently. We called the day before because there was a big group of us. The host was confused when we said we reserved a table, because they don’t take reservations for happy hour. Not sure if the big table the host took us to was reserved for us or it was coincidentally available. The happy hour drink prices were reasonable, but they were watered down. Even the wine tasted like it was watered down. But the food was delicious. There’s a variety of plates to choose from, and the platter had many of the appetizers(two of each) for $ 13. What I didn’t like about dining there was that it was so hot! I know that many places in the city do not have A/C, but it would’ve been nice to get at least some fans to get the air moving. It was hot and stuffy. Luckily, someone opened the door to the lobby of the hotel that the restaurant is connected to, so there was some breeze. If you dine here for happy hour, I suggest getting the beer and the food only. Don’t waste your money on the well drinks and wine.

Food is, eh, pretty good. Drinks and prices are, eh, pretty good. But the service is often rushed, inconsiderate and impatient. Its a service industry. You can’t survive on «eh» food and drinks and poor service. Don’t treat me like I am taking up space. I won’t come here again.

Bar seating, SF Giants game on, opened when we needed it to be. Spanakopita was not good, and the server looked panicked when I ordered it. First and only bite sent me in furious search of, well, elsewhere. Hubby liked the appetizer meatballs, I liked the generous pour of wine. I will be back after I recover from what will forever be known as The Spanakopita Incident.

Came here to watch one of the NBA finals games. TVs were small, you have to sit close to the bar to see the game. So I wouldn’t say it’s the best place to watch a game. I got the cheeseburger with fries, and that was decent. There was a thick, juicy slab of meat in the middle, so I couldn’t complain. It was pretty much one of the cheapest items on the menu, but I would think it’s a bang for your buck.

I love love love their grilled prawn salad! I wanted healthy and hearty and this definitely takes the trophy! I was actually pleasantly surprised because their prawns were nicely sized and flavorful. The spinach was evenly coated with an olive oil and lemon dressing-simple and delish! It had a sprinkle of sliced almonds and possibly gargonzola cheese, or even feta. Regardless, I tore that salad up, ladylike of course! I’m coming back until I play this salad out! Nice looking servers too!

Two things I can review. They only had 2 screens so I’ll minus a star for that. But the HH was pretty good at $ 8 dollar for a firestone and fireball shot combo. That is a pretty good HH deal. Was inviting and had a lot of room and went straight to the bar. All in all I definitely recommend this place was fun.

This is a pretty cool bar and to catch a drink at, the happy hour features both drinks and appetizers and they have a large selection to choose from at a cheap price. The staff here is pretty friendly and always makes sure that you have everything that you need. I come here for the beer specials, they offer 3 – 6 draft beers and 3 – 4 house wines for just $ 3.50 each. Also, appetizers are always $ 3 off during happy hour; be sure to try the hummus platter, it’s on point :)

Cool spot to get an after work happy hour drink and meet some interesting people. The happy hour is great, a house wine is only $ 3.50 a glass! And if you combine that with their yummy appetizers, grape leaf wrapped tasty snackies and prosciutto pizza — you will surely be set for the night. They also have a TV so if you absolutely musth see that game, you can! Atmosphere is rather nice, staff friendly and food and drinks yummy. I have come here several times and they are always accommodating and helpful. Even if you have ridiculous demands and customization requests, this place will do their best to fulfill your every need.

I only came here to sit at he bar, and have drinks with a friend. The bartender was nice and freidly, and i tosse back some melot after a nice earlier meal. The ambiance is cool, and its located next to hotels. They place was closing early, and they let us get in one more drink order, and essentially sit til they were about to finish the booksand lock the door. really awesome. id comeback again, next time to add some food into the mix.

Chill corner bar, if you want to hide away for awhile before an event in downtown area. They have happy hours on drinks and flat TV screens turned onto sports’ channels, which is of the norm. Adequate seatings and for restrooms, it is affiliated with the hotel, which is connected right next door.
