Old machines, no seating, and the occasional crack head wanders in… so watch your things.

This place is tragic. The change machine is always out of service, the front loading machines leave my duvets soaking wet and the dryers open sometimes during the cycle and I come back to find my clothes still wet. No carts. Dirty floors. It’s a HOTMESS. I find myself cussing out this place like 80% of the time I go there. Thank gawd I discovered the newly renovated place on 14th by the pizza place across the street. It’s worth lugging my laundry a block and a half.

This place is really as bad as everyone says. You definitely can’t leave your clothes here unattended or they will be stolen. But there is also nowhere to sit or hang out in the place while you wait for your clothes to wash or dry. There’s no attendant. The change machine is often broken. The trash can over by the detergent dispenser and non-functional soda machine often smells of human feces(Really. Feces). You will be asked by the same homeless man for a quarter multiple times in the same visit. Often I take my clothes of the dryer to find they have weird grey stuff stained onto them. When the new place opens up on 14th, the only people left in here will be homeless.

If I could give this place less than one star I would! Covenantly close doesn’t add up to the cleasiness of this place. I walked into today and there were homeless people sleeping on the tables where people fold their laundry. Time and time again there have been homeless people that come in to RISINGSTAR to either put their disgusting blankets in the dryer with no money or to hassle people for money. Today was the last straw I will never go here again. Also, the cost to wash and dry your laundry is expensive.

Someone just stole my sleeping bag from the dryer. It’s temptingly close to my house but just not worth the trouble.

BEWARE! My sheets and duvet cover were stolen from the dryer!(That’s a pretty penny.) Of course it’s my fault for running back to my apartment while my clothes were drying, but it’s not the kind of place you want to hang out and wait anyway. No chairs, no attendant. Just a sketchy element. Never going there again!

This place is bad and there is no attendant. My girlfriend once encountered actual trash in the dryers. Ugh. I NEED A GOODLAUNDROMAT!

I’d give this place 4 stars(the yellow walls *are* pretty, it’s true) if it weren’t for the fact that SOMEONESTEALSMYUNDERWEAROUTOFTHEDRYERSEVERYTIME! So now I’m sitting here guarding it while it dries. At least I can hop on an open wifi signal and Unilocal about it while it spins.

This is definitely not dry cleaning(couldn’t find a category for just laundry). Heck, they don’t even have laundry carts here! They do however, have: — new washers w/digital time display for how long it’ll take($ 2.50) — decent dryers(~.75 will dry a medium load) — change machine that works — detergent machine(.75 for one serving) — freshly painted bright golden yellow walls(LOVE this) — tables for folding We actually have one of those European combo washer/dryer units at home, but it really only successfully washes very small loads, takes a minimum of 4 hours, and turns out extraordinarily wrinkly clothes that are only very grudgingly responsive to intensive ironing. So for bigger things like sheets, towels, and pants(for days that I don’t want to look like the dreaded Wrinkle Monster), I sometimes take a load over to the newly revamped Rising Star. It’s convenient, clean, average priced, and it’s bright YELLOW! Only downside is that it’s sometimes sort of a hangout for transients trying to keep warm. I certainly don’t mind a body trying to keep warm, but I do mind a body trying to keep warm in clothes of mine that I haven’t yet donated. It’s a good idea to hang around here to watch your clothes since there’s no one«on duty» to watch them for you.
