Smells like shit inside, but the Rolling Rocks are cheap. A good place to bring a tinder date

Fuckin horrible!!! I know dive bars aren’t the greatest, but damn!!! This bitch of a bartender is siting on her ass watching tv than taking care of her customers or patrons! DONOTCOMEHERE!!! Alcohol is cheap, but customer service is beyond horrible!!! If I can give a zero I would!!! Randy or whoever the manager is, you need better bartenders! P. S. It smells like piss and shit

This is an interesting hole in the wall. The prices were about average for a San Francisco bar, and the energy of the patrons was positive. It’s kind of a small space, but it’s SF after all. They have a pool table if that’s your thing. The only thing I didn’t care for was the bartender’s poor attitude. She treated us like crap when my friend misplaced his cash, and I had to cover the drinks. I was tipping her a generous $ 5/drink, and she had the gall to chew us out for not having the cash out instantaneously for her after we’d been drinking there a couple hours already. She made some claims it was busy and was in a sour mood after that and even refused to accept payment for the drinks due to what seemed like a guilt trip. All said and done, the lack of professionalism is not what I’d expect from a bartender, and the sour attitude is not the treatment befitting to patrons paying nearly double that as the others at the bar.

Sue, the bartender and the owner, is the sweetest lady ever… She has been running this place for the last 30 – 40 years… Although she had seen it all, she is super cool and keeps the prices reasonable… If you go there on a weekday, you can meet all kinds of regulars ranging from a financial district lawyer to ccsf art student… The place has a pool table and friendly patrons who are willing to play for a dollar… The jukebox’s songs are from 60−70−80.(I love house and trance but I let Sue slide this time)…Anyways, there is nothing fancy about the place but the prices are right… In addition, I have never seen any fights at this place(I have been there like 10 times)…So it’s a nice, cheap, cool, dive bar with the sweetest bartender…

Sue serves drinks. Tip my hat and forget to count money. Pool table and jukebox are cool, and so are the pretzels.

For $ 3 drinks and $.75 pool, I really can’t complain. The drinks were strong, the bartender was super old and friendly and I may have lost at pool but it was still fun to play. Super divey and quiet, it was the perfect place to waste some time before heading to the airport. I’d be happy with this bar in my hood!

Me and the Roommates call this place the Dumpster Bar. There’s mail piled up on the bar, old newspapers, and we saw a flier for a band that was from 2012. Pretty sure that band has either failed or broken up by now. Other than that, there’s an 80 year old lady who tends the bar and an old crappy pool table. Not a bad place if you don’t care about the ambiance or the décor.

Another pretty good option along the Ocean Ave corridor. Beer is slightly cheaper here($ 4 for Lagunitas IPA or Speakeasy Prohibition) versus The Ave, though the TVs are smaller and the place itself is not as well kept up. The elderly woman tending bar(didn’t catch her name) allowed us to bring in food from Beep’s while watching the game. We didn’t get to use the pool table, which was used the entire time by one party. It’s nice having a bar named after me.

This place needs to be on Hoarders… It smells, waited to be served more than 5 minutes with 4 people in the place including the owner… Giving 2 stars because the last time I went there the service was ok…

So my girlfriend and I went here Saturday night(12/14/2013) after drinking downtown. We wanted to hit up one of the local bars and we have heard good things about this bar being a fun local dive bar go to. As soon as we walked in we left. It smelled like dirty high school locker room that someone pooped on. It was bad. It was muggy and disgusting. There were four patrons in there and all I could think to myself was«How can they even stand being in there without vomiting.» I want to be clear, I am not being a pretentious jerk; a tall can in the living room is typically my drinking routine. I was bummed, I was really hoping that this bar could be a spot where I could end my nights at.

I’m not sure what all the hype is about; maybe I just had a bad experience, but this place is completely over rated. If the reviews are based on cheap drinks, then I can’t argue with that, but there are several reasons that I’m not into this place. First, the staff isn’t attentive to all of it’s customers. When I have to wait 10 minutes for a drink when only 6 other people are there and the bartender chooses to help herself to the free food and then go outside to smoke a cigarette(or whatever she was doing) and mingle with the pedestrians on the sidewalk, that’s just unacceptable. Second, the selection of the beer is very weak compared to other bars in the area. There is rarely any craft brews on tap, and even the current selection is very minimal. I like when bar owners put effort into locally supplied craft beers, at least a few on tap, to attract brew seekers. Third, I feel like the vibe in this place is like someone just died and it’s the post-stages of a funeral. There was a patron at the bar that was super friendly, and I love that in a bar, but the place was very quiet and everyone seemed to be super depressed. Fourth, I think the workers/owners need to put more energy into creating a better atmosphere when there are holidays, and also try to keep the bar open at convenient times esp when there are events in the area, like hockey games, or if there is expected heavy bart traffic due to an event in the city. I actually love dingy, dive bars, but come on people, I think this area needs to wake up because this place could be so much better and truly appeal as a warm, inviting local neighborhood bar.

My first visit back since the remodel — the bar looks much nicer although there were some semi-sketchy homeless people freeloading on pretzels and panhandling the customers. Sue, the bartender, was very nice and pours a stiff drink but I think she needs a bouncer to keep the riff-raff out of the bar.

So I might be a little bias, since I used to live up the street from good ol’ Randy’s, but I really love the place. It’s not the bar to go to if you’re looking for a night on the town or a party atmosphere. But it’s a great place to grab CHEAPSTRONG drinks from the nice old lady Sue. Tip her well, she’s a great lady. She runs the bar mostly by herself, and has for years. 3 dollar well drinks all day every day. You can usually find the same collection of locals there during the week, but on the weekend you’ll get a mixed crowd. Ocean Ave isn’t exactly where people come to party so it’s never too crowded. But if you’re in the neighborhood it’s a great place to hang out. Very welcoming, very clean. Did I mention three dollar drinks?

If you are looking for a small, dive bar with good company, cheap drinks and a very nice and sweet bar owner(Sue) this is the place. They also have TVs for the games, pool table and jukebox. Will definitely be frequenting this place

Just moved into the neighborhood and was delighted to stop in at Randy’s place to catch the final Giants World Series winning game for the 2012 season. Woot. It looks a little, um, grisly? from the outside. But let me tell you, I’ve never had more attentive beer snack service or a cleaner dive bar bathroom experience . life. The mere fact that even considered putting those community Bugles in my mouth was directly related to the cleanliness of that bathroom. Seriously, it smelled really good and was fully stocked with the required paper products and there were no questionable stains or puddles in sight. I was tempted to sneak into the men’s room to see if it was an across the board attention to sanitation, or just a lack of women needing to use the facilities. Next time. Besides that, the crowd was a perfect blend of characters. A veritable social buffet if you will, and everyone seemed right at home. $ 4 pints and its dog friendly too! Oh and there is a pizza place a couple doors down with $ 1 slices you can bring in to the bar. And dice behind the bar. Nothing fancy. No expectations. Just right.

Another excellent business in the area! I’m a big fan of dive bars and this one is not only convenient, but cozy and budget friendly. Sue is a DOLL! She always remembers my roomies and I. As I’ve mentioned before we live on the same block, so we come often; especially when pregaming! To be perfectly honest, we’ve been neighbors for 6 years and we never had any desire to go in until we saw some construction going on. We peeked in a few times, but it seemed a little scarier back then. The more they worked on it, the more anxious we got to see what it would look like! When it finally re-opened it soon became the roomie hang out spot. A place we could go to claim that we’re «going out», but without injuring our wallets too badly or straying far from home. The juke has got some good old tunes; things you can bop your head to and probably sang at karaōke once, with a few more modern albums hiding in there(I recall singing along to R. Kelly’s «Ignition» one fuzzy night there). It’s a very chill place and isn’t too overwhelming like many San Francisco bars can be. The beer is cheap, the pool is cheap, and, not gonna lie the little naughty picture game machine is pretty addicting! Sue is always there refilling the bar snacks and turns up the Juke when you play«Runaround Sue»(I LOVE this!)!

Man, this place is beautiful after the renovation. I hope it stays like this and isn’t ruined by drunk assholes! The drinks are very reasonably priced, and quite stiff. I heard this was a «tough» bar, but so far, all I’ve seen are nice local people. So glad I found a nice bar in my neighborhood. Sue’s really nice and I hope she gets a lot of business from the City College crowd. Pool costs 75 cents. All the equipment and the table are new. It’s glorious. The jukebox is full of oldies, soul, funk, etc. and you get 3 songs for a dollar.

I needed a bar like this. See, I’m from the Midwest, and«dive bar» has a completely different meaning here than it does back home. This is a «dive bar» in the sense that I recall: home-y, friendly, not-jam-packed, and reasonably priced. I went in on a Saturday night and was met by a cultural mix of maybe 4 other people. I went last night and there were some college kids playing pool and some older people watching some NBA on the two flat-screens. It’s a total sports bar, but totally friendly. The bartender isn’t a snotty 20-something with an attitude, but always an older lady with manners. It reminds me of home, and sometimes we need that in these hectic cities. Oh, and it’s a ten minute walk from the Balboa Park BART station, so completely accessible to the city dweebs with no cars… especially dweebs who need to get out of the hectic inner-city for a calm drink. I like.
