Even though I don’t come to this place much, my best friend’s parents are the boss here. After we play outside, I get super hungry and he will always take out bread from his backpack. It tastes like paradise. This place seems small and crowded, but that doesn’t matter.

I love the fact you can get all sorts of their pastries for less than a $ 1. I usually go here before going to Starbucks since Starbucks will charge you over $ 5 for a TINY pastry that’s less than the size of the palm of your hand. Here, the pastries are BIGGER and cheaper and go great with my Starbucks coffee which I can nibble on the whole day. I’m not saying Princess’ pastries are one of the best in the city filled with 5 or even 4 star quality –they are NOT — they are just a VERY small chinese run cheap bakery to come in and relax from the cold mornings in the Excelsior neighborhood while buying or checking up on a lotto ticket while waiting for your bus. They’re certainly not Schubert’s nor even a Devil’s Teeth and probably not a Sheng Lee, but they ARE a well-fitting cheap costing café/bakery that lots of neighborhood people like entering in the cold mornings. They’re like a King’s bakery near 24th St & Mission but much much smaller with a much smaller selection of pastries. Their shop is VERY small, so don’t count on getting seats all the time if you’re with others. If it’s just you and 1 person, that’s fine. Lots of elderly chinese come in here to have coffee and pastries. BEWARE– their coffee is SUPERBITTER so only pour their coffee a quarter to one-third the way up your empty cup and pour in hot water and/or milk the rest of the way. Take some tongs and a metal plate and gather what pastries you want. While you’re there, you can drink your half bitter coffee or tea and nibble on some pastries, then buy for later a bagful or more of bread rolls(5 for $ 1.25), small custard tarts, napoleans(that aren’t the best but good and cheap enough to go with your coffee), muffins, cookies, SAVORY pastries like onion flavored savory pastries, fried bbq pork buns, pastries with cheese, ham or hotdogs, etc. The one good thing I can say about most of their pastries is they don’t taste stale or old or cold and they taste pretty good for the amount of cash you’re handing over. I’ll come here again and again — let’s face it — there’s a dearth of good cheap bakeries in the city that gets smaller in number every year. This is one of those few bakeries you’re always welcome to have around, especially if they’re in your neighborhood. They ONLYACCEPTCASH, NOTCC.

I see small flies in between the selves… so disgusting. They also sell left-over buns because some taste like that. Worst bakery ever

Great place to buy fresh baked bread buns! It’s small so be prepared to be in a cramped space amongst folks who bought baked goods and those who are playing Lotto. Otherwise, prices are pretty cheap… Buy and Go.

I wandered in on a Friday morning for breakfast, and this tiny bakery was packed with customers looking for baked goods as well as lottery tickets. The collection of baked goods here seemed small compared to other bakeries I’ve been to. The buns are all displayed by the window on racks, but they didn’t look especially fresh or appetizing. I grabbed a pineapple bun and egg tart anyways. Right when I was about to pay, an employee from the kitchen came out with a hot pan of fresh pineapple buns with custard. I definitely went for the fresh pineapple bun instead. The total for my pineapple bun and egg tart was $ 1.90, which seems a bit more expensive than what I’d get from other neighborhood bakeries but still reasonable. The pineapple bun was soft and fluffy. The sweet crust topping was more sparse than others I’ve had, which was disappointing since it was the sweetest and my favorite part of a pineapple bun. The egg tart was the right consistency, flavor, and texture, but the only downside for me was that the crust was a little too thick and overpowered the filling. Despite being such a small space, this long and narrow bakery is able to fit several two-person tables for people to sit down and enjoy their food. This was a fun bakery to stumble upon, but I wouldn’t necessarily go all the way back here for food.

One of the best bakeries in the area. Classic Asian bakery favorites. You cannot go wrong coming here.

Of all the bakeries in this immediate area, this was my favorite. Very small but you can smell all the baked goodness down the street when you’re walking towards it, which is a feat in itself since Mission isn’t the cleanest place. When I worked in the area, I would typically get a couple of buns for breakfast and an afternoon snack. Their baked goods weren’t as dry or as small compared to the other bakeries. Almost no seating and cash only.

One word, croissant. This is what I come here for. When I step through those doors, my sight zooms into that shelf where these little packets of heaven reside, within sight of the window, pushing past anyone tryina get in ma way – just kidding, I’m not that aggressive. They are delicious just on their own, the inside is so fluffy and chewy at the same time. But they are insanely good when they’re fresh baked. There are two varieties: some have sugar on top and some don’t, I adore both kinds. And for 90 cents a pop, who can say no? I usually finish one by the time I get home. Ok, I lied, I don’t JUST come for the croissants, I also feel welcome here. This place holds some fond memories for me, it used to be my go-to place after middle school when my sister and I would pop in for a cookie or two. Everyone’s real friendly. So long as Princess bakery keeps spittin’ them out, I’ll keep comin’ back.

I came in here today for ham and egg bun. Service here is still very good and it can still be better. This is one of my favorite go to bakeries when I am down on Mission St. They do serve coffee here so this is a very good compliment to that pastry item. The ham and egg bun I usually purchase from here is now $ 1. Yeah, I am not too surprised about the price increase of their pastry items. It’s inflation cause when one item goes through a slight price increase, prices for other items will increase as well. I crave for egg tarts and other pastry items as I write this review update. Pastries, coffee and milk tea is a hit when I am looking for something to consume. Cash Only! Business Hours for this bakery are: Monday — Saturday 6:00 am — 7:00 pm Sunday 6:00 am — 6:30 pm

Apparently this is my older sister’s favorite bakery? and it’s been here for years? I never knew that… but I’m glad I finally got the chance to try it! We picked up a few pastries: cocktail buns, egg custards, cannolis, and a fruit cake. All of the pastries were really good, my favorites being the cocktail bun and the cannoli. The cake was simple but very fluffy and moist with a nice flavor. Great place for delicious and cheap pastries.
