I’ve been coming here every now and then but for quite sometime now quality has been bad. There usually out of what i get, my palabok i ordered for togo had a mushy texture, the lechon kawali has been out for awhile or burnt. I can go on… I just come here for the baked goods rather than the food.(In addition, one of the ladies that work there is always so nice to my family and me) I go to «Baby’s palabok» for a better home cooked meal.

Worst customer service. Ordered fresh lumpia. Vegetable still cold. Manager reheat and told me to stop complaining. The manager told staff I will heat till burned. Looks like coming from refrigerator. Not fresh cooked.

I ordered Sinigang an Baboy, Beef Steak and Lumpiang Shanghai. The Sinigang was delicious. Not too sour and lots of ingredients. The beef steak was good too. Meat was soft and tastes so good with rice! Make sure you have the Lumpia freshly deep fried. The dipping sauce they give is amazing.

I came here for the following items: –Specialty(Boat) Tarts –Ube Polvoron –Ube Hopia Everything tasted good… the Ube Hopia was perfectly sweet and the perfect soft texture. The Specialty Tarts(Boat Tarts) were also very good — I usually get the Langka/Jackfruit and Ube. This is a big store with a restaurant and bakery section… eat away!

Absolutely horrible. When I walked in to order food, a pigeon was walking around and flying in the restaurant. I purchased an Ube Roll Cake to go. When I opened the package the middle of the cake was brown. Lucky thing I decided to take out the entire cake from the packaging instead of slicing and eating it, because THEREWASMOLD!!! all over the cake. Never coming back here again.

Stale baked goods. Be careful buying any of their cakes from this location. They are really stale. I bought a chocolate cake and the cake itself was extremely hard and the icing on the outside was dried up and chewy. Based on my experience l I would never go back.

It was my brother’s birthday and he wanted a black forest cake. I didn’t want to go to Sheng Kee Bakery. Although cakes are delicious at SK, everything is overpriced. I remember a Filipino co-worker said Goldilocks has very delicious Asian cakes. I looked up the website and scored! They have the black forest cake I’m looking for! I walked here from work(it took 25 mins!), so I’m super sweaty when I got there. I saw the black forest cake roll! I asked how much is this? She said $ 15. Not bad, I thought. I said I’ll get it. She said there is no more… What? Seeing how disappointed I looked, she said she’ll check in the back. There is 1 left! Hurray! Looking around, I noticed there are a lot of interesting Filipino baked goods. $ 0.89 for one little boat shape item. One says langka(jackfruit). Wow, one of my favorite Vietnamese fruits. This might taste great, I thought. I’ll take one of these little jackfruit boats too! Everything smells really good too. Would have love to have dinner here if I didn’t have plans already. It’s only a 20 mins walk to the Glen Park Bart station. My brother and the rest of my family loved the cake. I enjoyed eating my little boat riding Bart home. :-)

I never go to Goldilocks for bakery items — If I want bakery items, I usually go to Schubert’s or B Patisserie or Stella Pastry & Café(for their Sacripantina cake) or other North Beach bakery or Dianda’s(if I want something closer to my area) and I’m filipino! If I really want fine filipino bakery items, Red Ribbon is my first go-to and my 2nd is «Hilda’s Mart & Bake Shop. » Red Ribbon has MUCH higher quality softer cakes AND they use REAL dairy cream, not margarine nor some other fake poor quality cream like Goldilock’s. Hilda’s as far as I know doesn’t make cakes but they do serve a wider menu of other filipiino desserts. BEWARE: You will need to bring your credit card or bring A LOT of cash! I usually go to Goldilocks because it’s spacious and it’s a good place to go to for me and my mom after we’ve shopped and want to rest. My mom gets to read her filipino newspapers, eat filipino food which she’s used to, and watch their filipino tagalog programming on tv(if it’s turned on.) They serve food cafeteria-style so you need to get a tray first before going to the counter to select the food items you want. When you get your tray, there’s free ice and water there if you don’t want to drink a soda. I find it very expensive here for just ok(not amazing) filipino food. You even have to pay for rice separately. No filipino person eats their meals without rice — it’s NECESSARY! When I ordered their kare kare dish(a stew of beef oxtails with string beans and/or eggplant in peanut sauce which is my all-time favorite filipino food which is usually cheapened these days by adding yucky cheap tripe & bok choy), they gave me a bowl of mostly sauce, a few scant vegetables, and only 1 small oxtail. With a soda and rice and the«free» TINY shrimp paste side(the usual side that goes with kare kare), it all cost me a tiny fortune of over $ 11 and I had to use a credit card! I was afraid of ordering more since they don’t put their price tags out there for you to easily see in front of the food. It reminds me of «Pampanguena Cuisine» which doesn’t really have amazing nor good quality filipino food, but at least they THOROUGHLYCOOK their stew items unlike Pampanguena. I know oxtails are expensive at $ 5-$ 6 per pound, but my mom could cook a large pot of kare kare with $ 20 worth of LOTS of LARGE oxtails and LOTS of different vegetables with LOTS of rice for a much cheaper price per bowl of kare+rice than Goldilocks would charge! Even their other regular filipino dishes are pretty expensive which even my mom complained about. If you’re filipino and/or looking for fine dining filipino, then South SF has better and more restaurants — one friend mentioned Fort McKinley for a great filipino fine dining experience which has buffets. I would NOT go out of my way coming to Goldilock’s and I would NOT even go here if I were in the area. Like I said, I only go here because of my mom. «Baby’s Eatery and Palabok» is not fine dining and it’s a very cramped hole-in-the wall tiny eatery(which is better for food to go rather than eating at the eatery), but it does a better job of doing good quality filipino food with decent to generous servings for reasonable prices in the Excelsior. If you MUST come to the Excelsior ORANYWHEREINSIDESANFRANCISCO and are looking for a good fine dining filipino experience, one good restaurant is «Kuta Bistro» — the menu is not vast like in SSF restaurants(although they DO have good kare kare) and it IS very pricey, but for good quality food and a good quality relatively spacious, comfortable, presentable interior décor filipino restaurant where you can bring a date, friends, family, relatives, guests, Kuta Bistro is a definite green light(they even serve alcoholic drinks), but they’re only open for dinner at 5pm to 10pm. They’re empty most of the time so you won’t need a reservation.

Be careful when you buy food from here. I bought bibingka yesterday 7÷1÷14& my son saw molds on it. Trusted them before on there bibingka but now I’m having second thought. Plus food are pricey. On palabok, Kadok taste better and on cakes try Red Ribbon. On BBQ try FilAm in Daly City &SSF. On dinner Pinoy restaurants, try Karilagan & Boracay in SSF& Tastebud & Kuya’s @ San Bruno. Tastebud have good Sisig bangus & lechon. Noticed also, there add ons for the palabok & sotanghon noodles are setup behind counter. Those are easy to spoiled if not stored properly. Their ensaymada has less cheese & on one side of topping.

For $ 6.50, I bought a whole fish tilapia which was prepared grilled. It was good and I even had it the day after for lunch. Minus 2 stars because it was kind of a mess in there which does gives the illusion that the place was dirty. Leftovers were left at the table from their previous customer. However, the service was friendly. I was also craving for Filipino shortbread called«Polvoron». Bought them here and it tasted like childhood. It was great exactly how I remembered it to be. Their«all– time favorite» called«mamon», Tagalog version of sponge cake was definitely becoming old. It hasn’t change since I was 5 years old. I have developed a non-liking to this their best-sellers except for the«Polvoron».

Many variety of filippino foods to choose from. I couldn’t give 4 or 5 star bc the foods I ordered had a bland taste. I can’t remember the names of all them but a typical dish I ordered with bittermelon wasn’t what expected along with the rest of my orders. This was a sit-in lunch day and random stop looking for bakeries or sweets actually and just happen to come across this place that does food and bakery together. I will come back again to re-taste to see if I will change my rating on their food. Funny bc I’m filippina(americanized) but I love most foods like a fat kid loves cake LOL.

Cakes and pastries are good! I was disappointed about the hot food they serve. I went here back in Oct 2013. Ensaymada, cake rolls, mamon, yema and pastillas are worth as pasalubongs.

I was early for work on Sunday. I was craving some Filipino food but my favorite, Babies Palabok and Eatery was closed. So I remembered this place was open. I thought okay, I’ve never been to a Goldilocks before, but what could go wrong? I loved their baked goods as a child. Walked in and it was a fairly okay place to be in the Excelsior. I got the Pork Adobo and Pinakbet with a drink for about 8 dollars. The pork adobo was okay but they only gave me like three pieces… The pinakbet was not like how my dad used to make me which was salty! If you have a choice between Babies and here, go to Babies which is just a block away and much more food for your buck! This place gets a two because I got some ube hopia to go and I haven’t had that in the longest and it was yum.

Growing up, my parents and grandparents would always take me to Goldilocks. Since we lived in the area, we would always take the MUNI to Mission Street and just stroll around. After a long day, we would go to Goldilocks to get something to eat and I always looked forward to going to Goldilocks. I would always get the melon shake while my parents and grandparents enjoyed watching TFC while chatting with their«kababayan.» It was wonderful, really it was. Nowadays Goldilocks is much different. The store itself is usually dirty with leftover plates everywhere. Where is the bus boy to clean everything up?! Be careful when walking in because there are a bunch of flies that hover near the entrance. The food? Don’t get me started about the food. It’s reheated in a microwave and they have no shame about it! Also, the prices are expensive for the quality of the food that you’re getting. I’ve always hated Goldilocks pastries and cakes so don’t even ask me about that! Might I add that I got food poisoning from here one time from eating their longanisa. How do I know? Well it was the only meal I ate that day and I found myself holding on for dear life 2 hours later while vomiting all over the place.

Goldilocks sells filipino food ready to eat, cakes, pastries, etc. didn’t see any desserts. the pastries and some cakes seem to be premade off site eats: ube hopia(purple yam pastry)2.49−4 pieces? –made in hayward, ca. by clarmil mfg. corp, a goldilocks affiliate –tasted of flour, dry, ube not too flavorful –similar in taste to ube hopia tasted decades ago when it was imported from the philipines. 2ish stars leftovers: –first goldilocks store seen with ready to eat foods.(maybe i wasn’t looking). –didn’t look at food so can’t compare –pastry disappointing, all premade offsite.

Parking can really be a bummer here since its only street parking. Goldilocks has a huge variety of food. Actually, I think it’s the only restaurant in the area that has a huge selection of food. It’s a bakery also. They sell cakes, mamons, polvoron and more. Food is in decent price. It’s not cheap cheap though. I had their lumpia sariwa, sinigang na baboy, BBQ pork & chicken, sisig and giniling na baboy on multiple visits and yes, they taste good. Im just not recommending the BBQ stuff.(I can make better =p, no, seriously though) Their BBQ pork & chicken is just smokey tasting enough for me I guess. On each of my visit, my tummy is filled with goodness.

Ok so get this. A while back my ex came here with his friend and their family to eat here. He decided to order the chicken adobo since that’s always good to eat because it’s simple and he wouldn’t be surprised about what ingredients put in it. As he started to take a bite, he noticed that there was something moving in his food! Apparently the meat was tainted with maggots! Yes MAGGOTS! He tells the manager and waiter to look at his plate and they have the nerve to say that that was one of the ingredients! TFC was all over this story and I was rolling on the floor laughing. Honestly this is not a Filipino eatery. It’s a joke! If you want real Filipino food I suggest Karilagan’s on El Camino Real Blvd or Kuya’s Cuisine. These are family owned and have really great food
