The egg sausage and potato pies were quite tasty. I enjoyed it. The parking around the area sucks.

Tasty vegan soups, dry vegan peasant pies. I’m hoping I went on an off day and maybe the pies aren’t always dry. But I’ll be back for soups and salads and I’m sure I’ll give the pies another shot… stay tuned.

One of the other few choices in Mission Bay, this is a much more convenient places in the area to grab a bite. And I’m being almost literal when I say a bite. I got the beef and potato pie which was… Okay. I was hoping for a flaky buttery crust, but it was just a decent casting so you can walk and eat whilst carrying all your groceries. The filling was also just okay. Nothing special. I’m not sure that I think that it’s worth the price. They have a nice indoor sitting area if you are looking to get some work done, but in terms of food, I’d look to one of the other two options in the immediate area.

I just wandered upon this place. The staff suggested the beef and potatoes as one of the top sellers. So I tried it. Warmed and to go. I also got the sweet potato pie/tartlet. Total cost-$ 7.85

This review is regarding a recent encounter at the mission bay location. I have no complaints regarding the food. I am a fan of the vegan pie options. During this encounter the employee had misinterpreted my order and had processed an extra pie on my order. They had run my credit card and I realized that the total did not add up. They then attempted to process a refund but I was told they did not know how to process a refund and they were the only employee on site. They then attempted to give me a gift card with the refund but that also did not work. This employee then started grabbing money out of their tip jar to refund me. I protested as I didn’t feel it was their responsibility to pay me back with their entire tip jar. My main complaint is that peasant pies should have the appropriate trained staff with the access to process these errors. I would have preferred to contact the company directly but they do not have any customer service contact information available on their website.

The potato and sausage didn’t wow me, but it grew on me as the staff made me feel welcomed in this space. Hustling and bustling and knowing the customers. Lots of regulars it seemed. Seems like the regulars are diverse too. It’s on a medical campus so I am kinda expecting to see the same folk over and over again. Nope. Definitely not a place I would get work done because the people watching is too damn interesting. The sweet pies are hella awesome. Too bad it’s not trash tv night or I would take one home.

Loved the concept and the taste. They definitely taste best held in your hands and taking that perfect bite! I saved myself from the sweet pies but they looked luscious. Had to stop myself from also getting the Thai fire chicken soup but captured the aroma!

Wow! Such low prices for savory pies($ 3.55 for a chicken pot pie)! Their sweet pies are also very good: I tried the blueberry custard. The crust on both types of pies were crunchy and buttery. I went right before noon on a weekday and the line was not long at all. :) Definitely swing by if you are a fan of pies.

I’m not a huge pie person, but I found the vegetarian and beef peasant pies to be delicious. I would return if I ever have a craving for it.

The location shouldn’t work, but it does, even though it doesn’t. I don’t like that they use a rock to hold open the door, and I don’t like that pigeons wander in constantly. Time for a letter. Dear Peasant Pies Mission Bay, You could scare away two(and maybe more) birds with one(door-stopping) stone if you would simply replace said stone with a ceramic or wooden owl. Sincerely, John S. The peasant pies are what you’ve come to know and love and expect from Peasant Pies. I will say, though, that the garbanzo-bean one seemed much spicier than the dozens of garbanzo-bean ones I’ve devoured from the Inner Sunset location. Maybe Mission Bay is to the Inner Sunset as South India is to North India? Am I assuming too much? I know I didn’t catch them on a bad day, in case you were expecting me to use that Unilocal cliché – which I’ve never used, thankfully. If he could go on Check, Please! Bay Area again, Ed U. should choose this Peasant Pies as his spot. Why? Because I’d love to see and hear Ed U.‘s rhetorical calisthenics trying to defend a basically indefensible, at least in terms of that show’s arbitrary arbitrariness, spot. It’s kind of like a castle at the bottom of a valley: Why defend it at all when its defense is hopeless? For the love of the game, my fellow Ed U. fans, for the love of the game. Monica? Caroline? Elena? Dominika? Claire? «Fame. I’m not gonna live forever.» There’s some solace in that, as aging can be pretty brutal, depending on what goes on the fritz first. The not-even-almost-famous Peasant Pies Mission Bay employee who’s bringing this review up to four stars is a star herself. Not a very noticeable star in the Northern Hemisphere, but a star nonetheless, with all the flickering, heat-generating, and wonderment-inducing pertaining thereto. And you thought I had lost my sense of humor. Ha!

Servings are small so if you have a big appetite… well then look to spending a little more. Living in the city however, you’re used to being socked in the wallet with brass knuckles so meh. I got a coffee and a curry pie! Came out to be a little over $ 5 – the kind of $ 5 spending where you think«I spent that amount on… this little?» Not the price I really wanted to but I can’t really complain. The food was pretty good but it didn’t blow my mind. I would definitely come here again if I forgot my lunch or something haha. There is free wifi here and it’s a neat place to get work done – it isn’t particularly crowded. It’s worth a try if you’re curious but don’t set your expectations too high.

Came here for lunch because I had to pick up PPE for work. If you’re eating in this part of the city during lunch you’ll probably know what that is… Just a hunch. Of the four places to eat on this block, this place seemed the most interesting. There was subway and a café next door. I only eat at subway if I hate myself so this was the logical choice. The food was OK and came out fast. I had a chicken and potato pie. The pies are basically big empanadas… So, $ 5 for one and a coke seems a little on the pricey side. But we’re used to that in the city… So that’s a «moo» point.(Friends reference) The venue was really nice inside. Lots of space. Free wifi is cool. Seems like a good place to get some work done and have a quick bite. I would come back here if I needed to eat something while over here. Bottom line: Nice place Lots of space Free wifi Food is not bad and not Subway.

Was waiting to be called for seating at San Tung, which of course always takes a long time, so the bf and I decided to walk around the area to pass time. I’ve wandered around while waiting for San Tung before, but never had a chance to venture into this place since it closes at 7PM, which in my opinion is a shame considering all the potential customers they can get from waiters of San Tung like myself. The store was on the smaller side, but still very nice and clean nevertheless. Since we were kind of hungry from walking around all day and not yet eating a proper meal, the bf decided to buy the beef and potato pie while I bought the blueberry custard pie. The guy working was more than happy to cut both pies in half for us for easy sharing. Honestly, I wish the pies were a bit bigger, but it’s a nice hand-sized, easy-eating kind of snack. I didn’t care too much for the beef and potato pie, but OHMAN did I fall in love with the blueberry custard pie. The blueberries are FRESH and tasted oh-so good with each bite that a small feeling of sadness overcame me when I finished my last bite. The blueberry custard pie was toooo good that I knew I had to buy the last 3 to-go for my family to try. I bought the chocolate flan pie to-go as well, but it wasn’t anything special when I tried it at home. Aside from the pies, the guy working was extremely kind, helpful, and casually conversed with us. I would definitely come back to try more of their sweet pies! Side note: there’s a large packaging box that is turned upside-down with a glass panel on top that is used as a table, which we talked about with the worker. I found this hilarious yet innovative, and of course I had to sit at this«table»!

I was in the UCSF Mission Bay campus for an interview and I wanted to have lunch in the area. This place caught my eye as it’s one of the more unique dining options in the campus. Restaurant was clean and the woman at the counter helped me decide what pie I should order. Taking advantage of the pie + soup combo for $ 7.10 I got myself a beef & potato pie with a Thai curry soup. Add a can of regular Coca-Cola bill still came out to less than $ 10. — The soup reminded me of panang curry rice in a soup form. Didn’t take me long to finish the soup as there was a good proportion of meat to rice in the soup. The soups change daily and when you order soup you are given a cup that you scoop the soup yourself. — Beef & Potato Pie(Ground beef, potato, tomato sauce, onion, and mushroom). Pie crust was solid as I see chicken pot pies yet when you bite into it has a flaky consistency. The pie was filling with beef and potato yet it doesn’t make a mess as you bite into the pie. Decent amount of tender beef mixed in with soft potato. On a nice day you can enjoy this outside, though there’s very limited outdoor seating with no umbrella. As it’s near the edge of the campus it’s a vantage point to people watch around the campus. Should I be hired on here I’d love to try more of their pies, especially their desserts.

I’ve only had the beef and potato pie and it’s a great hand held warm treat. It might look small but I thought it was filling for my morning walk to work. The menu looks intriguing and I will need to try other flavors to make a thorough judgment. So far so good. The service is very pleasant!

This place has different tasting pastries. Personally, I do not like this type of pies. Tried this place multiple times and haven’t found something worth getting. I really don’t know how people like it! Staff are alright. But the food quality and nature are so bland and more like a sustenance.

Tiny fruit pies run $ 3.55, and a can of soda is ~$ 1.25. The food isn’t cheap or particularly remarkable, but the interior, free-wifi, desk space and extremely kind service makes up for it. A great place to park yourself if you need a couple hours of internet for work, or are just looking for a place to power up. Clean restaurant and restrooms, great location in the middle of the UCSF campus, and a very relaxed clientele. Grab a cup of coffee, a pear crumble tart, and enjoy. :-)

REVIEW #314 – PIPUNINTENDED Living at the UCSF Mission Bay Campus means Terzetto for morning coffee, Publico if you’re hungry, and Peasant Pies if you are not hungry enough for Publico or are craving dessert. Each pie is $ 3.55, and nutrition facts are listed for the savory pies but not the sweet ones, so I can always eat the sweet ones in ignorant bliss. I do like the pies being freshly made, but the unfortunate corollary is the delicious wafts of buttery bakery goodness in the mornings when you roll out of bed and onto the shuttle. The menu has a decent selection of traditional pies and super healthy vegan pies that nutrition majors would rave about. It is a very good alternative to the pathetic microwavable frozen chicken pot pies, though the portion sizes are awkward. Getting one pie for dinner is too little, and you would need to eat it very slowly and mindfully in order to feel like you’ve eaten dinner. Getting two pies comes out to over $ 7, which is on the high end for a meal of pies, plus the second one would be cold already by the time you finish the first one. Let me provide an exhaustive list describing everything I’ve tried, because I know all UCSF people are meticulous and thorough no matter how chill they may seem. I know scientists also love figures, so I have also kept a record of pictures for all of these pies(except the southern sweet potato because it smelled so good I ate it before I thought to take a picture) including several cross sections. By now, I must have enough data and analysis to be able to publish a Unilocal review. (++) Spinach & Feta Cheese Pie: Creamy spinach goodness – this would be the way to go when dealing with rebel children who hate veggies. ( – ) Eggs, Veggies, & Cheese Pie: Mission Bay lacks a decent convenient brunch place, and I thought this brunch-in-a-pie would be it. Unfortunately it came out quite bland and almost like airplane food. (+) Blueberry Pear Pie: One of the more popular ones and I must say the combination of blueberry and pear was a delightful synergy of sweet and sour. It almost looks too perfect, with a layer of perfectly aligned blueberries atop a layer of perfectly aligned pear sliced. (++) Chocolate Flan Pie: The flan is like a delicious chocolate pudding, at just the right consistency for a pie filing. I like this one, nice and basic without fanciful diced glazed fruits and crumbles. (+) Pear Crumble Pie: Apple pie with a twist. The tangy pear topping and fluffy crumble make it quite unique. (+) Pumpkin Pecan Pie: On the sweet side, especially with the glazed pecans. There’s an odd gelatinous layer, but otherwise it is a better and fresher version of supermarket pumpkin pies. (++) Southern Sweet Potato Pie: I like the other pies cold, but this one is good heated. Despite having the word sweet in its name, to me it’s closer to savory. The sweet potato goes well with the crust they make, and altogether it rekindles my childhood memories of savory pies. (+) Vanilla Flan Pie: I did not know what to expect, and it wasn’t close to what I would have expected. It turned out to be interestingly close to egg tarts, only with a more creamy custard filling and a pie crust instead of a pastry crust. (++) Café au lait: I actually really like the coffee here, more so than Terzetto which is just really strong. (++) Mocha: They make it with cocoa powder and a whisk! It has a rich chocolate flavor and a creamy texture without being too sweet. Service is always ridiculously courteous, and the ambiance is cute and peasant-like with wooden tables. It’s not the best place to study because the tables are bumpy and the pendant lamps hang low right by your head. In conclusion, Peasant Pies is the go-to for a snack or light meal in the Mission Bay strip mall. Terzetto pastries are no better than generic premade coffee shop pastries, Publico anything is filling unless you get like one taco, and Subway is… just no.
