Mark, the bartender, is the man. Went 2 consecutive nights because of him. The nite cap is a great place to visit in the tenderloin area and has a very laid pack ambiance. Highly recommend for an at home feel and a good buzz. «Home of the happiest drinks» — the man, the myth, the legend

This review is solely for Mark, the bar tender. He is a kind hearted person with a great sense of humor. I am so glad I accidentally stumbled upon this place. This place is a true gem because of him and the drinks are very affordable.

I ordered a Black & Tan. Clueless bartender(12:30a.m. Sat May 21) didn’t know how to make it, so he said«no charge», & made a mix of crap. I tipped him $ 1. Later, asked for a basic draft($ 6?) He said«the last one was only a dollar». Gee i thot he said«no charge»!(his words). Extremely rude! Had heard this fave bar of mine had improved… WRONG! No friendly neighborhood bar here anymore. Sad

Came here for the first time on the weekend. Good music, chill vibe, and the bartender(Mo) was great!

This is by far my favorite bar in my neighborhood, and this being the TL with at least two on every block, that’s saying a lot. Bartenders are the owners and always happy to see you and make you feel at home. Patrons will become fast friends while you’re there. Great place to watch a game, play some pool or just hang out talking with neighbors.

Back in the bay and had to come visit Nite Cap again. Mo Brooks was the bartender, it was super busy with 2 parties going on but he was keeping up the great service and with a big smile. Definitely the bar to come to. Don’t leave SF with out checking it out!

Real cool bar in the TL; came here with some friends for an after-work drink. Beer on tap will get you by and any drink you can think of, bartenders will make it for you(in this case, I went with an old fashion and a manhattan neat). We were also given pork rinds as bar food and it was A1. Pool table inside and a couple TV’s to catch the game. I’ll definitely be back at Nite Cap when I’m in the TL.

I think this might be my new favorite bar. It’s very small and classy — clean, delicious drinks, friendly staff. What more can you ask for?

Mo is the man. Great casual bar… Strong drinks and well maintained pool table. Wish they served food but overall this is a chill scene with a well maintained pool table and some very unusual, very tasty beers

Still the best re-modeled bar in the neighborhood. Pet friendly, no craziness and great drinks. Michael makes a mean Manhattan, very smooth. Stop in and enjoy the ambiance.

Longtime TL resident who loved the old Nitecap(since 2001) and will probably like the new one. I’m writing this review after about 6 visits. It’s a simple bar. Its NOT a fancy, «yuppie» bar. It’s just new and looks new. Limited beers on tap, limited booze selections, and no mixologists. Fine by me for a simple, local bar. Shot and a beer run from $ 7-$ 11. There’s been some furniture movement and some adjustments to the seating arrangements since it opened. And now there’s a pool table. Lightning is dark-ish. Feels spacious. Wish they would put a jukebox in there and have sports/ESPN on at least one of their 3TV’S at all times. Unfortunately this place will always compete with the old Nitecap and that’s not really fair. Besides it being a bit more expensive(sign of the times, DEALWITHIT), there’s no real reason people who liked the old, won’t like the new. …unless you miss the disgusting hot dog, potato salad bullshit they’d put out on game days and the nasty bathrooms.

Loved the old Nite Cap. Plan to love the new Nite Cap. Yes, the old codgers are gone, but the bathrooms! Ah, the bathrooms! Still dog-friendly. Still fun. My $ 5 glass of wine is now $ 8, but I think I’ll survive. The only thing that needs work is the seating arrangements. Maybe some tall tables between the bar and the lounge areas …

Situation — Met a friend after work on a Friday Pros — Clean bar — Awesome service — Nice little bar to relax and have a few drinks Cons — It could use a few more beers on tap

What can I really say. It’s a bar, it’s fine. Yes, I do remember the old ‘cap’ and have been there more times than I can count or remember. It doesn’t really matter. Gone is the pool table, and gone is the jukebox. It’s a very clean look. I find it a little strange that the bar only seats about 15, but other than that you’re stuck with this weird lounge area that seems perpetually vacant. The drink specials are actually sorta cool, like ‘trumer and fernet shot’ or ‘lagunitas and bulleit shot’. Creative. I feel like the demographic is supremely lost on this owner, and it borders on insulting. I know if he could have afforded this closer to the cable car, this ‘new Nitecap’ wouldn’t exist. Passion and care goes so much further than a new paint job.

This place was super sleazy. then it closed. well just like a phoenix this place has just risen. it has a great location. The bar is spacey and very comfy seats. can’t wait to see how cracking it gets. One of the better bars in the area.

Rum & Coke and a great soundtrack. Joe is personable, comic, and real. Good job folks. I’ll be back.
