It was right around the corner from my hotel so it was a convenient place to buy water and snacks. They have a credit card minimum and San Fran charges for plastic bags, so my suggestions would be to bring cash and bring your own reusable tote. Rather than just charging me a service fee for not buying $ 10 worth of stuff, the cashier was adamant that I go back and get more merchandise to meet the credit card minimum. That was pretty annoying but other than that, since it was more conveniently located than CVS, I just shopped there.

1. Good(and Well-Priced) Beer Selection. 2. Great Location. 3. Nice Staff. That’s how you run a business. If I want a nice 6-pack of Beer I’ve had good luck here. I’ve had some winners, including Old Monkey Shine(my photo). Usually a very palatable 6-pack price in addition to a very palatable Beer. $ 10CC Minimum. They also have other things.

This store has a good selection of groceries at great prices. I found the cereal and milk prices one the cheapest around. I find myself shopping here more and more, I don’t know why. They have a good selection of frozen dinners, lunch meats, bread, and ice cream. Beer selection is good. Great wine lineup as well. Cigs are one of cheapest in SF. Very clean store and cool-ass people work here. Peace!

Being from Sacramento and coming into a big city it was nice to see a convinience store open at the time I needed. I love that they have a wide variety of goods, also the customer service here is outstanding. You don’t find to often places like this anymore.

We needed milk so we decided to stop by since we were at staples. I like that they’re pretty big and they do have a wide variety of kitchen goods but I think the prices are a tad much. It’s what you pay for convenience… they gotta make a profit too so taking that into account I’m happy to pay for what I need as long as I’m not getting gouged. Their produce though was not very impressive, in fact when I was there on a Saturday afternoon the produce was rotting & dying from thirst. This area had a unclean feel. I didn’t get to walk through every aisle but they’ve got a nice selection of spices. And I saw a section for household plants I wanted to check out. Overall I don’t think I’ll be back, it wasn’t very special, and especially since they’re a bit of a walk from my place.

I don’t know about the discount part – or even, to be honest, about the grocers part – but I like this place. I really really do. You would expect a corner-storeish mini grocery on this part of Polk Street to be cramped and dirty, and you would expect the people working here to be surly and suspicious. Except for the dirty piece, nothing else holds true. The aisles are actually really wide for a store this small, and the guy working the register when I came was really friendly, both to me and the customer before me. I was slightly annoyed that they didn’t have any bottles of Diet Pepsi, but that seems to be a general trend in San Francisco convenience stores lately, and I absolutely have no idea what the cause could be.

This place has been around for a long time. Although it may seem like any other conner store it is beyond that due to the owners. They are so lovely and nice. Feels nice to have this warm care from the owners in a city. Love it

This grocery store is right near my recording studio, and thus gets lots of my business. There are a few things a man needs to make great art. They are: * Beer * Hot Sauce(Louisiana-Style and Sriracha) * Seasoned Seaweed strips * Red Bulls/Vitamin Waters/Etc * The odd cigarette, trucker cap or porno mag, for clients Discount Grocers has all of these and more, at non-extortive prices. They also have a very bizarre sign on the corner, that mashes up the art from a dollar bill with a bad dirty south rap album cover. At this point, that sign is busted in and often houses very cute pigeons. Plus! What they don’t have: * Fine artisan cheeses * Anything harder than beer * Those hyphy shirts everyone wants * Crack …so, as you can see, the selection at Discount Grocers is not comprehensive. What brings it back to the realm of 5-stardom is the owner– absolutely the nicest corner store guy I’ve met. Whenever I ask for my groceries without a bag, he says: «Thank you for saving the earth!» When I buy seasoned seaweed strips, he shares with me his love of eating them while drinking beer. We have so much in common! He always makes sure to card me when I buy alcohol, and to make a big deal of seeing my ID and exclaiming«My god! You look so young! How do you do it?». I tell him it must be the seaweed and beer.
