Ordered the Coppa and the Salami sandwiches and they were absolutely delicious. Maybe a bit hard to eat, and be careful if you don’t want it to crumble down to pieces. The salami was outstanding, perfect with the coleslaw and french fries. The coppa was not my favorite, it’s a type of bacon-y prosciutto, but still was super tasty and satisfactory. They have beers on tap and on bottles, a variety of drinks and tvs streaming sports game. If it’s a Steelers game day I advice either get there super early or just try to avoid it(if you’re not interested in watching the game). Apart from that, the employees were super nice and helpful. I would recommend this place to anybody. :)

The door guy was an absolute road block! Showed up to snag two sandwiches to go and he was so unapproachable. I’ll admit it was during a steelers playoff game, and it was busy but I was there to put in an order and gtfo. He was very confrontational and rude. He said all these people are spending money and why would he deal with me? I peaked in and everyone was standing with watered down drinks staring at the TV. I’d be in and out with a $ 25 order! I love giordano bros and have been visiting them since 2006 when they had the north beach location. Sad they have employees that aren’t aligned with management expectations of customer service and making money. Maybe next time giordanos. Or get better door help!

I really don’t understand the all-in-sandwich. It really isn’t particularly good and the utilitarianism of the meal no longer makes sense when you are sitting down to eat. Either way, I have been to both locations and meh. My last visit the servers seemed defeated as they were understaffed, the food was meh with the Roast Beef being bad and the Pastrami being quite decent actually. Beer selection was good but that doesn’t really count for anything anymore in San Francisco because every place has a good beer selection. Unless you are here to watch sports, especially Pittsburgh sports… you can do better.

I had heard about this place about a year ago and have never had the chance to try it out until today. We drove from the east bay and were able to find a parking spot 2 blocks away. Lucky. Once you make your way to the establishment there is an open door with a sign that says«Come on in». Once you go inside, it’s a seat yourself type place. Take the menus off the wall and sit down wherever you want. If you’re a football fan, Sundays are a good day to go, they have NFL Sunday Ticket. Each TV is labeled with which game will be shown. That was nice when choosing our seat. When you have a menu in hand, there are several waitresses available to take your order.(This is a good system they have here, very fast drink/meal ordering) We figured out the system and in less than 2 minutes a waitress showed up to the table we had selected and we gave our drink order: Beer selection is very solid. Something like 15 solid brews on tap and about 20 bottled beer selections. They have house made cocktails as well, that looked pretty intriguing. The menu is really simple: pick what type of meat you want on your Pittsburgh style sandwich. The food: I picked the pastrami sandwich. The meat and cheese were fantastic. The fries were really good. The coleslaw was alright, a little too much vinegar, but nothing major. Primanti Bros in Pittsburgh, PA is better, just because of the cole slaw. Anyone on the west coast craving that Pittsburgh style sandwich will not be dissatisfied.

I came to Giordano Bros because I got paranoid when I heard that the North Beach location closed. Lucky for me, I was meeting a coworker here for the ALCS game. I didn’t try one of their sandwiches since I was only staying for a couple of innings but I did try one of their crazy fru-fru cocktails. From what I remember, it was one of those vodka, blue curacao things that looked like I was drinking it on a cruise liner in the Caribbean. Otherwise, this place had plenty of TV’s, lots of beer to choose from, and when I eventually do get a sandwich and some wings, hopefully they will taste as good as I’ve heard.

I fail to understand why anyone would skip the amazing Mexican places in mission to go eat here. May be those that have had one too many fish tacos? Anyway, we ordered Hot Capiola and Kielbasa sandwiches. Somehow I must have given a give that I am allergic to eggs because my Capiola came without one. It was also not hot. Kielbasa was good though. Their beer selection is also impressive. Next time I am mission, I will likely grab a super burrito. When I have had one too many, I will start eating tacos. Don’t think I will go back, not because of the egg thing but because I hate Steelers!

Was told that the location in North Beach closed, which is a shame. After living in Pittsburgh for a solid 5 years, I have a soft spot for Giordano Bros and always try to make a visit during my trips to SF. As many of my friends are Bay Area yinzer transplants, it’s not too hard to convince them to go. As a Philly native, in my head, nothing really can beat a good cheesesteak and a lager, but I’m a fan of the Primanti Bros-style sandwiches and Giordano Bros does a good job with their own rendition of these sandwiches. I typically forgo the classic cappicola and egg, and get the kielbasa sandwich. All the sandwiches come with fries on top, and don’t ask to have them on the side or make any modifications, because they won’t do it. Their wings are also very good here, and they drench them in their proprietary hot sauce and butter concoction. My other favorites include the fried pickles and onion rings(duh). Just make sure you get your butt to the gym after eating here, because this menu is not really«low-cal.» Heh. They have a very extensive draft and bottled beer menu, and the waitstaff is very helpful with recommendations based on your tastes and preferences. The prices overall are pretty decent and you can get a good-sized draft micro-brew for about $ 6. Since most of my friends live in the Mission or near the Mission area, I’ll definitely back to catch any football games while I’m in SF, or just to stop in for a beer and a sandwich.

French fries in a sandwich? Thank you Pittsburg for creating such a beautiful thing. I ordered a turkey sandwich. It looks small, but it’s piled high with french fries. I was complete stuffed when I finished. I was here for happy hour with my coworkers. The Giants were playing, so we sat outside since it was so crowded inside. But they had heat lamps, so we weren’t so cold. Our waitress was very nice and didn’t rush us at all. We were there long after happy hour was over, and she made sure we got everything we needed. I’d love to come back here and try the bacon and egg sandwich. Since it also has french fries, it’s like a breakfast sandwich!

The place that puts the french fries inside of the sandwich… It’s a Pittsburgh thing. Giordano Bros is the home away from home for all you Pittsburgh transplants in SF. The sandwiches are truly gargantuan. The whole idea is that you have your sandwich & french fries literally together, all at once. Great idea, right? A 2 course meal in 1 course. It’s just positively efficient. And the pastrami sandwich is positively delicious. I’ve only eaten at the now closed north beach location. But when I ventured into their mission spot just to take a look, the bartender could not have been nicer. It’s a huge space! Is there a game on? It’ll be on here. And if you come in hungry, you’re definitely not going to leave that way. 4 stars.
