Prices were very reasonable and the service was great. The bartender even helped us with finding good restaurants to go to later.

This place came up on Unilocal as my friend and I were looking for a place to watch the Warriors game(May 9th, 132 – 125 Go Warriors!). And sure enough, as promised, there are 9 TVs in the place, and they were all tuned to the game. Though the place seemed pretty packed, we were eventually able to find some seats by sharing a table with another smaller group. Shoutout to Jackie our waitress who was super friendly and helped us find a seat! The beer selection is pretty comprehensive(as expected for an Irish pub), though I’m not much of a drinker so I suppose I don’t have high standards in this regard. There was a sign outside advertising their«famous Irish soda bread» so we had to try it out… and it was delicious! «But it’s just bread…» you say. Yeah, I know, but believe me, it’s really good! Dense but also soft and chewy and slightly sweet. Goes really well with butter. Great place to hang out and watch the game with a fun crowd and great staff, while enjoying some beer and bread.

Drinks were good, but the food was just okay nothing to get excited about. I had the Irish nachos and forgot to ask for chips instead of potatoes so when the nachos came out in realized it was on potatoes vs chips. So no problem I ask for a side of chips, literally a handful was $ 3.

This place takes me back to my Irish roots! Great atmosphere, great food and music. I especially like coming here on game days. They have a great selection of beer and Irish inspired dishes. This place gets very crowded but service is still good. I’ll be coming back wth my buddies very soon!

This is a hidden brunch gem! There was an hour and a half wait at Radish around the corner so we decided to check out this pub. And, in a stunning turn of events, they have an awesome brunch menu that is served until 4. Clearly this isn’t well known because there were only about 4 other people here. Service was prompt and friendly, with expedient coffee refills. Boyfriend had the Full Irish Breakfast. He, an Irish pudding connoisseur, found the whole spread to be to his liking, and really quite a deal at $ 16, considering the huge plate of food. I had the Bacon Boxty, a neat spin on eggs Benedict. It was tasty and filling and well seasoned. I almost didn’t want to post such a raving review of their brunch because I hope to keep this secretly tasty and relatively inexpensive option to myself!

I love this place but parking is really crappy and when you do find parking, it’s either super far away or it’s a metered but it is $ 5.25 an hour!!! Today we went there for happy hour for our dear coworker who is leaving. We’ve been here many many many times before but the last time we’ve been here, we had another coworker tossing her cookies in the bathroom…*hee* Anyway, in the beginning around 2:30 — 4:00, it’s not as loud and it’s not as hot so the atmosphere is pretty good. But then when it’s actually happy hour hours… it gets louder as more people gets packed and packed. They have happy hour specials and deals. The 4 of us ordered 3 Guinness, an Oatmeal Stout, Irish Nachos, Calamari, and Sliders… with 2 Jamesons w/Ginger Ale cost about $ 95 with tip. I think the portions are much bigger than happy hour prices, but it’s way cheaper! Their Nachos were packed with a lot of sour cream and beans. An order of sliders came in fours with some onions in it, it could be a little juicier, butfor me, it was a little dry. Last but not least, CALAMARI, it was good with a pile of lettuce and arugula underneath. Other than that, it’s pretty good. I don’t like the bathrooms because it’s always super cramped. I’m really tall(for a girl) and it was hard for me to maneuver in the stalls. It’s a good hang out place for after work.

This place is a dump. Come here if you; 1. Are A guy and like being around other guys. 2. Recently out of college 3. Like noise and not being able to hear the person you’re with talk. 4. Have a fondness of douchebaggery

I often forget about this place as a restaurant, but it’s actually pretty good. It’s also often loud, and the front tables fill up faster than the rear(so make sure to swing through the whole place before deciding it’s packed). Table service can be slow if they’re busy, especially because they don’t always know you’re here for food only(lots of beer-only drinkers will seat themselves at the tables), but they’re friendly about it if you wave someone down or ask for help. On my last visit, we had a lamb stew and pot roast. The pot roast definitely won in terms of being visually appealing, tasty and big portions, but the lamb stew was good, too(just a little soupier than I was expecting). I wish either dish came with the Irish soda bread advertised on the wall outside(my favorite kind of bread), but I didn’t see it anywhere on the menu and forgot to ask. Maybe it’s only available by request. You want Irish pub food? It’s been almost two decades since I was in Ireland to compare, but this place is good in its own right.

The Phoenix was the second stop on a birthday bar crawl so it was here that we decided to eat. It was incredibly crowded — around 7PM on a Friday night — so it was a miracle that six of us were able to squeeze around a table and get service! We had a traditional round of Guinness, Smithwicks and Boddingtons and then ordered fish and chips, lamb stew, chicken enchiladas, and Irish BLT. I shit you not, everything was delicious! And we weren’t drunk yet, so I know this is true. Definitely the place to go for a drink and a hearty meal.

Stopped in for some drinks and a mid-day snack. The fried pickles and sweet potato fries were perfect! Coming back again for sure. Waitress was great! Forgot her name, sorry! She thought we were tourist from the midwest because our group was polite! I guess my Mom would approve of our pub etiquette!

Came for dinner with a couple friends on Sunday night. Food was good, service was good, no complaints. Definitely a nice spot to unwind and have a decent meal/drink. Laid back vibe and delicious«Irish» Potato nachos(most likely not authentic Irish cuisine but scrumptious nonetheless).

Received what we expected from this place. It’s not trying to be something that it’s not, which is appreciated. Cold beer on tap, friendly staff. A bit«divey» which is to be expected. Wouldn’t come here for food, but if you’re looking for a comfortable neighborhood dive that offers cold beer at reasonable prices, this place has your back.

Seriously great salads for a pub. I’m having the cobb, my friend is having the grilled chicken salad. Both are amazing!

Decent food, good beers. I actually like this place. Would have been 4 stars except for the fact it ISNOT showing the RUGBYWORLDCUP(Unlike the Napper Tandy which will even remain open past 4am to show the USA teams World Cup match). Loses major Irish Pub credibility for not supporting Rugby. Guess I’m going an extra 6 blocks down to the Napper Tandy instead(even though I live near the Phoenix).

Came by for dinner last night with a friend to watch the end of the Eagles/Falcons game then the first half of the Niners game; great mix of locals-only bar, great bar food, and dive bar prices for happy hour. Atmosphere was on point; a couple of TVs, but not so many TVs that it’s a full-on sports bar… a couple of bartenders, both of whom made and served beer and rail drinks as fast as any place I have ever been… locals yelling about how terrible the Niners were playing(at least, in the first half) mixed with people like me who just wanted a place to finish a pint. Tried the half orders of the fish and chips, chicken tenders, and sliders plus a side order of fries… the tenders were a bust but the rest of it was bar food, slightly elevated and crazy greasy good. And the HH prices are solid here – $ 4-$ 6 per plate, so after we got a bunch of food(doubled up on the fish) and a few drinks, our bill was around $ 60, so I think we did pretty well given our location and the amount of time we were in there, about three hours. A nice find if you are visiting town!

The corn beef Rueben is AMAZING!!! I will try a Rueben anywhere as I’m a fanatic. This Rueben was juicy, the rye bread was perfectly toasted, and the sauerkraut was not over powering. Usually I power through a sandwich, but this sandwich MADE me take my time. Side of shoes string sweet potatoes fries was good. Recommendation is to leave the ramekin of mayo off. Coming back for sure!!! If you’re a Reuben lover come check it out. If your want some good beer come check it out. If you like good service come check it out.

After a night of swing dance lessons, we traveled over to the Phoenix Bar to grab a late-ish Monday night bite. This was also during Cinco de Mayo so the Irish pubs weren’t the crowded locations. Jacqueline was our server and she was phenomenal. If every waitress I ever had was as excellent as she was, I’d want to eat out every night. We sat in the back part, which was dark, and more quiet. I had the Shephard’s Pie, which was pretty good and my fiancé had something else, that he liked, and I don’t recall. The food came out quick and the food came out hot. The bar isn’t the cleanest, but it’s not that bad. But again, Jacqueline’s amazing customer service and the decent food made this location a surefire place for a repeat Irish pub food craving.

Dive-y bar with decent fries and a decent beer selection. I thought they did a strong job keeping up with the large crowd during yesterday’s terrible terrible loss of our Dear Warriors at the hands of the Griz. Sigh. But yeah, they kept the bar humming despite the large group of folks.

A typical Irish bar, allowing a group of four a free table on a Friday night. The premises felt quite naked and didn’t offer any cozy Irish feeling. None of us actually found what we wanted on the menu, that seemed quite basic. I do not think I will go back, but I’m not usually going to Irish bars, so my review doesn’t count for all that much.

Is the Phoenix Bar an «Irish Gathering House?» It most certainly is. Went here on St. Paddy’s Day for lunch and there were throngs of people watching footie on the tube. If you think Americans are loud when it comes to «football,» you haven’t seen anything yet. They really got into it! Food here’s solid too. Service was kind of slow(they forgot one of our orders) and prices are pricy, but the ambiance can’t be beat.

I love this bar. Came here two years ago for SPD and they were amazing. Came again this year(1 hours ago) and felt the same way until SHE started her shift. I will find out her name soon enough and warn you about her, but until then, you should take time to read this. So today is the primary day in the city to celebrate SPD. Dolores was packed, which means any bar within one mile should expect degenerates. Enter: me and my idiot friends. Definitely drunk, but based on multiple random accounts, coherent and friendly. At 5.30p comes one bartender who literally just started her shift and immediately comes to me and my buddy at the bar and responds to our request for two Irish coffees and a picture with her with and her cool glasses with: Bartender: «I will kick you out of this bar if you keep up your attitude. I’ve had enough of you!» Me: «Wait, what?» Bartender: «No drinks for you!» Me: [Curse words to myself, and maybe outloud] «Good talk» We end up getting drinks from another bartender and we’re ok for a while. We move to the side tables and hang out. But, I’ll be honest, I’m annoyed. I used to be a bartender so I don’t respect people who don’t respect customer service. After an hour or so, I go back to the bar. Again, to be honest, I go back to where the same bartender was working to figure out whey she was so mean. As she approached me, she starts saying«You think I’m going to serve you?!» Her colleague, another bartender, is close by so I ask her for two drinks and if I’m being mean or loud or degenerate. She shakes her head as though this is par for the course. She serves us a few more and we enjoy the next hour or so. Come 7p, we call an Über to leave the bar. Again, I’m super annoyed. This bar was solid and fun with the exception of one bad apple. I’m curbside with a sight-line to the bar and I’m looking back inside to see if that same bartender will see me(pretty aggressive move by me, I will admit) and she sees me and starts yelling at me from behind the bar. So I walk back inside and, again according to my friends, pretty calmly ask her why she is so mad. Here is what transpires: Her: «You have no idea what I’ve been through today. You don’t know me! You don’t know my struggles» Me: «I don’t care, you’re a bartender. I’ve been one too. Your main job is to shake that $hit off!» Sure, maybe I could have been more polite, but given how aggressive she was, I was not in a place to be calm. I’ll take blame for that. Her: «I have no problem kicking you out of here!» Me: «I’ve literally already paid our tab.» If the goal of this bar is to provide solid drinks and get you drunk, mission accomplished. If part of the goal is to make people want to come back, I’d say they failed miserably. She is terrible and I will find out her name and let you all know so you avoid her.

We love this place. They serve food until 11 on weeknights, which is hard to find on this street. They have great burgers and sliders, made with either beef or lamb. The weeknight bar tender is efficient and has this«all business» attitude that I appreciate. There is only one thing. Do not order the garlic hot wings. They are horrible. They smell horrible. Jus don’t do it. So disappointing.

I am definately a fan of the Mission district, and I love coming to the Phoenix. They have the best grilled fish tacos for happy hour(which usually I prefer fried fish). I always come here for a few drinks when I go bar hopping in the mission or after work for hh. The place has a lot of TVs too for games. During a game though, you would have to go early or get lucky for seating. The drink prices are average, but if you like that Irish Pub feel, but not grimey, this is the place to go. Sometimes the waitresses wont be AS friendly, that’s why it’s a 4 star, not 5. They aren’t mean or anything, just not as attentive. Other than that, I love coming here for the chill vibe.

I came here for the World Cup Final and I’m so glad I napped a table(though it didn’t really matter as I had to resort to standing at the end. Too many tall people!) It was super fun and lively during the game and I’m sure it’s like that for all major sporting games and possibly any given night! What I liked the most was their Irish nachos. Potato wedges slathered with cheese, guacamole, olives, and sour cream.(Think nachos but without the nachos). Yummmm. Their artichoke dip was also pretty good!
