never order from here. they are very rude and they lie. i waited over 90 mins for my order and never got it. they stated that they called me to get my food and i have phone records to prove that they never called. they refused to redeliver and didn’t apologize for the inconvenience. they wasted my time!!!

This is my first time order this for delivery and it’s not a great place cause I order 2 grilled steak burrito and it’s too dry and not enough flavor.

I wanted to try Etrella Taqueria hoping it would actually be an under-​appreciated gem on Haight and prove the Unilocal consensus was wrong. Well, my food turned out to be terribly disappointing. I ordered an al pastor quesadilla with only a sprinkle of cheese. It’s like they knew I was lactose intolerant and wanted to save me. Bits of meat were falling out because there was nothing holding it together. The flavor overall was okay, but I didn’t order a giant flour taco with a little extra cheese. Not worth the $ 7 + tax spent.

Your «establishment» is a complete joke. My food NEVER got delivered and the help behind the phone was a complete joke too. Hope this place closes down

I’m really shocked to see that this place only has 2.5 stars! My girlfriend and I eat here and order delivery from here all the time. It isn’t the BEST Mexican food we’ve ever had in our lives or anything, but it’s always delicious! They’re open pretty late so they also always come through in the clutch after late nights out. And the people working there are always nice to us.
We love it! We get the chile relleno, the super veggie burrito, and the enchiladas. All are scrumptious.

I ordered delivery from Estrella Taqueria last night, and it was excellent.
First of all, it is so difficult to find Mexican food that delivers. That alone makes me a customer :)
Second, the guacamole was good. It seems that if you have a go-​to Mexican place with good Guacamole, all is not lost in life.
Third, the people were so nice. Very courteous and wanting to be sure my order was correct.
Last, it was totally affordable. Affordable delivery in San Francisco? Si señorita.
We ordered burritos, a quesadilla, and guacamole, and ended up stoked.

I have been coming here for my Mexican food cravings for years. It’s certainly not the best in San Francisco, but it’s close to home and hits the spot when I’m in the mood for a burrito. I felt like I needed to write a review to defend it in response to a lot of the high maintenance one-​star reviews. I’ve read so many ridiculous complaints about this place. (I can’t speak to their online ordering complaints though, of which there seem to be quite a lot.)
I feel like it follows a model similar to the taquerias in the Mission, except it’s not in the Mission, and that confuses and disturbs people who wandered in from Hayes Valley or the Marina who were expecting something more like Tacolicious or Little Chihuahua.
The cook asks you what you want in your burrito like they don’t know what goes in a burrito? That’s the way most taquerias operate. Even Chipotle does that. Go to Chevys if you can’t be bothered. You couldn’t exchange your food for something else after you started eating it? What restaurant does that? It’s not a sweater that ended up not fitting right.
The food is fast and they assemble with practiced precision. They prepare it right in front of you and let you choose the ingredients, so I am not sure how other people have gotten their orders wrong or claim that the meat is microwaved. The produce has always looked fresh and vibrant. The food has always been really tasty and filling, though I agree with the reviewers that said their burritos tend to be wetter. I am not sure if it’s because the produce is wet or the amount of salsa or what. I would also agree that it’s not a place to go to for the décor and the ambiance. You can figure that out within seconds of stepping inside.
This is not the best place in SF for Mexican food. I would definitely pick a place in the Mission for that. But for taqueria style Mexican food in the Lower Haight, this place has always satisfied my cravings.

Not sure about how it’s like to eat at the restaurant, but DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY from this place. I ordered meals for three people and gave a very high tip, but the place never delivered. I called them three times to see when it would come and just gave up after the order was AN HOUR late. That means it was 90 mins PLUS an hour late. Each time they told me that it would arrive in ten minutes, and I waited. It never came and they never let me know that it wasn’t going to come. Don’t order delivery, it’s not worth it.
EDIT: I called Eat24 to get a refund and they told me that other customers had the same problem with this restaurant. Don’t order delivery.

There was a reason why this place was completely empty on a Saturday night. I ordered a fish taco, took one bite
When I attempted to exchange it for a lower priced item, the cashier said, «well you already at it.» Sorry, after taking one bite and you realize you are being sold last months fish at $ 5.00 a taco. Come on! Shut this place down!

My review is based on Eat24 delivery, and I never write reviews, especially bad ones, but my experience tonight was so bad that I feel the need to share.
I’ve ordered from Estrella Taqueria in the past, and I could not believe all the negative reviews, as they were good a few years ago. So I thought I’d give them another try.
I ordered on Sunday at 6:31pm and they quoted me 60 – 90 minutes for delivery, which is fine, I guess for a rainy Sunday night. The delivery driver calls me on my cell phone at 8:03pm (92 minutes) saying «food delivery here». I ask him to ring the buzzer so I can buzz him into the building. No buzzer. I wait a minute and still no buzzer. I decide to walk down the stairs and check on him and he finally gets out of the car and hands me the food at my front door. Doesn’t say a single word to me. Not even a ‘thank you’. The look on his face said the complete opposite of «thank you», he glared at me with the most hateful eyes…
The food matched the service. Everything came cold, as expected. The carne asada plate for $ 11 yielded two extremely thin (like 3 envelopes stacked together thin) slices of chewy beef, wilted lettuce, beans, rice, and blackening guacamole. The crispy tacos were now soggy, and the bits that were not soggy were very stale. The Super Burrito was cold and the meat overcooked.
I spent $ 51.21 tonight, hoping and praying it would be good. It was not and I will never order from Estrella Taqueria again.

For what it is… a quick and easy Mexican spot, does not deserve the rating it has. It’s basic and flavorful. I always get the three crispy tacos and I’m never disappointed. Full of meat, beans, cheese sour cream, guac. Nothing you wouldn’t expect. Why this place is rated so low, I don’t understand. It’s way better than rancho on divis. Way better. They’re always nice, ask how the night is going and double check on making sure what’s in your order. Hope someone else sees where I’m coming from.

My rating is solely based on having Delivery service. They were true to their ETA time, the food was good.
I enjoyed the super burrito, my lesson was to get retried beans instead of whole black or pinto. Then it’ll be too moist and soggy.
The bag of chips that was provided were a little over fried. Other than that it was all good.

Super burrito is good. Atmosphere isn’t incredible. The food doesn’t match the look which is a little outdated. Not to dawg it because the look isn’t a good way to tell if the food is amazing or not. The food out exceeds any downfall.

Two hours ago I ordered a regular veggie burrito and upon getting home and taking a couple of bites, found a looooong, nasty hair. Gross, GROSS! I won’t be coming back. You employees need to pay more attention to what you’re serving.

I don’t get many things here– but the super shrimp quesadilla is to die for! Also, it’s super messy so have plenty of napkins or a fork and knife

I’m baffled by the poor reviews, honestly. There is just no pleasing some people.
Had the hard shell tacos and loved every bite. My buddy said he thought the quesadilla (recommended by the cook) was the best he’s ever had. I had a bite and have to agree it was delicious. I’ll be happy to give Estrella 5 stars, and will be back here again soon after a few brews at Toronado. Good prices good food friendly staff.

All of these bad reviews just seem like one offs to me. So here is a good review for you. Went in last night to grab a quick burrito with some friends and everyone enjoyed it. I went with my trusted bean and cheese burrito which was delicious alone, but the green salsa they have was seriously delicious and made every bite super tasty. If I ever find myself back in Lower Haight craving a burrito, that will be my first stop. 1 star off for not having any cerveza! That would have perfected the meal.

This is one of those places thats acceptable at 1:30am on a Saturday night after bar hopping, on any other occasion you wont be leaving happy. Ive been here once after bar hopping and it wasn’t bad, the next time was brutal. The burritos are priced the same as any other place and the size is average. The taste is just not there, no freshness in the condiments, meats are dry and the burritos wrapping is subpar. Would only come here after 4 – 5 drinks.

I thought I had landed on some bone when my teeth hit something hard. Nope, I just bit into a chunk of PLASTIC in my burrito.
Could not eat another bite.
Will not be coming back.

I picked up lunch here earlier today since I was in the Haight district. Grabbed a super chicken burrito with hot sauce. I was pretty underwhelmed though.
I LOVE Mexican food, so I have a sufficiently low bar for it to taste great. However, these guys, unfortunately, didn’t clear even that bar! I didn’t think the burrito was that flavorful.
Also, my burrito wasn’t wrapped very well which caused in to leak. It was a messy.
