Like me, you may look at Rosamunde’s sausage menu and balk. «$ 8 for a sausage?!» you might think. But from all the toppings and gourmet quality of the sausage, it’s a must-try experience. A blonde German woman made our sausages yesterday, and I really enjoyed her countenance. It was her twelfth day working in a row, I’d overheard her say to a regular customer, and I couldn’t help but be impressed with her demeanor! The place is small, but there is some high top seating w/stools at the window. You are also able to take your food to-go and have it next door while sampling the many beers at Toronado. No bathroom for customers, again, there’s one in Toronado.(Bar bathrooms…*shiver*) I had the Weisswurst(veal & leek) with chili and sweet peppers and my bf had the Wild Boar with sauerkraut and hot peppers. We also got some of the potato salad on the side. Potato salad was very good! It contained bacon and was a yummy take on an old classic. The sausages though… oh man. SO flavorful, so much goodness. The chili on mine made it much more filling and was exactly the type you want from a «chili dog» experience. Not too chunky, just kind of smooth with tons of ground meat. The sweet peppers were a great addition too. This is great location(especially with the relationship they got with Toronado and everything), but if you’re really dying for a good sausage and are more than a party of 3 people, I highly recommend Rosamunde’s location in the Mission. But if you’re stumbling around in Lower Haight and start to feel your stomach gurgle, go get a sausage from Rosamunde’s.

Sausages are delicious! ‘Nuff said. Grilled sausage on a toasted French roll? Give me 2 and I’m happy. I’m just a simple girl with simple tastes. Each time I pick up an order here, I eagerly head home to unwrap the tasty goodness. You can choose 2 toppings(grilled onions, sauerkraut, sweet peppers, hot peppers, spicy beef chili) for each sausage roll and they really pile it on there. Mr. Joy and I once picked up V-Day dinner here. No cookie-cutter 3-course prix fixe Valentine’s menu for me, thanks. & while we’re on the subject, why do restaurants assume we all want to jump at the chance to make reservations and pay $$$ for soup or salad, beef, chicken, or obligatory vegetable entrée, and brownie sundae? Anyways, I’ve tried the… Beer Sausage — smoked, spicy pork & beef, Lagunitas IPA Cheddar Brat — smoked pork & Wisconsin sharp cheddar Knockwurst — grass-fed beef Duck — fig & brandy They are all excellent. I think I like the cheddar brat the most, then knockwurst, beer sausage, and duck. The duck is good, but a little hard to pick out the duck flavor. I usually add grilled onions, peppers, or sauerkraut, which are all very tasty. However, I think I prefer my sausage sandwiches plain, no toppings, or condiments. Also, Rosamunde is affordable. All the sausage on rolls are about $ 8. There is very limited seating, so most people take their orders to go or eat on the street. The last couple of times I stopped by, there was a very sweet lady behind the counter. Everything was cooked to order. She was on her own — taking orders and cooking, so the food can take a while. I appreciate that the sausages are individually wrapped and complete with itemized sticker, so you know what is under the wrapping paper before you open it up. Rosamunde also caters. That would probably make the next family barbecue go pretty smoothly with tasty food and a lot less cleanup.

Very good sausage, to say the least. Once you order it takes about 10 – 15 minutes for your sausage to be cooked. The end result is a fresh sausage and buns. Their toppings are also very good. I would recommend the chili. My only real complaint is that the sausages are a bit expensive and sometimes the wait can be irritating. Also, sometimes the person working steps out for a bit and closes the shop for 10 – 15 minutes in the middle of the day. Aside from that, the food is fantastic.

If you love sausage this place is a must — I got the chicken habanero and wild boar. Both were super flavorful and the staff was wonderful about pairing toppings and condiments with the flavor of the sausages.

Stopped here after a beer at Toronado for their Beer Sausage sandwich. We topped ours off with sweet peppers and grilled onions… so good! The place is tiny and only has a few spots to eat at by the windows which makes it a great spot for a quick bite.

Sausage was so good. I got the rabbit and rattle snake. I took it next door to Toronado to enjoy it with a Pliny. You do have to wait about 10 mins since they are made to order. Solid and delicious. I was craving it again the next day, which is the mark of a good place to me.

This place is a must if you love sausages. I live across the street from this place which is bad and great at the same time because I will have one of these sausages at least once or twice a month. My favorite sausage is the cheddar one, it’s so perfect with cheddar inside the sausage. I also recommend the beer sausage and stay away from the habanero one if you do not like spicy things. Their pickles are amazing as well, so crunchy. The cool thing about this place is that you are able to take your sausage to the bar next door Toronado, how perfect is that!!! PS. the lady who works there is the best! She always makes my day when I go in and order.

Interesting place! Lots of variety of sausages; boar, rabbit, lamb, beef, & pork. We ordered the chicken chili cheese sausage w/onions & spicy chili. The spicy chili topping was very good.

My girlfriend took me here for the first time and I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I heard and read great reviews, but we never had the time to venture over here to try the food. They do, however, have three other locations, but since I haven’t been there yet, this review will be for this location only! First off, when we went there was only one guy manning the grill and cash register. Unfortunately we didn’t catch his name. Anyway, he was really friendly in answering our questions and taking our orders.(It was a little confusing for a first-timer like myself). When you step up to the counter you’re to say what type of sausage you want and that’s it. Once the sausage is ready, then you request your two toppings of choice. Let me tell you. when we went there, two people were in line ahead of us and a few others were waiting for their food. Now remember. this guy was the only one working there. He took the two orders in front of us, our order, and the three others who were behind us. All the while manning the grill to make sure the sausages weren’t getting burned and throwing the rolls on the grill at the right time. On top of that, he would call the customers back to the counter once their sausages were ready, asked what their two choices were for the sausages and rang them up at the register. Let’s just say he impressed me. I can only imagine what it is like during the work week! Needless to say, we will be back again! (Actually, we already went back last week to get our Rosamunde fix). Cheers! As a tip. order your sausages at the counter and then go next door to Toronado for a refreshing beer on tap while you wait. After 3 minutes or so, check-in next door to see if your sausage is ready. If it is. don’t be afraid to take it back with you to Toronado. They welcome the scent of Rosamunde! :) Another tip. try the Andouille and Chicken Habanero sausages with hot peppers and grilled onions. Be aware that the Chicken Habanero sausage is spicier than the hot peppers.

What I love about this place is though the menu is pretty bare, the dishes excel. I had the Merguez lamb sausage and my wife had the Chicken Habenero. The Merguez was succulent and I liked how I couldn’t feel the casing. The guy at the grill recommended mango chutney with the Merguez and boy was he right! I enjoy a little heat so the hot and sweet pepper garnish and Rosamunde special mustard sauce definitely took the dish up a notch. The casing on the chicken habanero was still noticeably hard and for some people it might be a negative. The seating is limited and a lot of the patrons took their order to the bar next door, «Toronado». Since rosamunde’s doesn’t serve alcohol it’s a good choice. Though I had a pack of chips and a soda with my order, 20 minutes after lunch I was hungry again so it’s not the best place to hit up if you are famished.

Decided to drop by this place because I was at Toronado and they don’t serve any food. I ordered duck with grilled onions and sweet peppers topping and it comes with 2 skinny sausages. I liked the food, but I find it way overpriced for what it was. The flavors are certainly unique, it is conveniently located, and I can imagine it pairs very well with beer. My favorite hot dog is still from Top Dog in Berkeley which was probably twice the size for half the prize.

What’s not to like? Tasty, high quality sausages with mouth watering toppings. Cons would be this location doesn’t sell beer, and you only get one choice of bun. Varieties would be nice.

Not sure if it’s just me being high-maintenance, but cheap hot dogs always seem to taste too processed. Rosamunde though is a different story: very foodie-friendly with their gourmet house-made bratwurst. Think wild boar, merguez, duck, and other unique renditions. Mmmm… fancy. All the choices sound delicious and it can be difficult deciding what to get. I wish they had some sort of sampler or flight. We got the cheddar brat, but it lacked any visible cheddar and you couldn’t really taste its incorporation into the brat. The highlight for me was the wasabi dijon mustard, which actually had a decently strong wasabi flavor. The bun wasn’t anything too special, nor were the onions and bell pepper toppings, except that with the addition of ample veggies you can pretend to be healthy. Bratwursts are reasonably priced at $ 7-$ 7.50. The place is small with only a few counter seats by the windows, though it was fairly empty around 6pm on a Friday. It looked busier later in the night, but I strongly recommend against going to Rosamunde out of post-Tornado drunchies – it’s a bit of a waste since you’d probably be more elated with dirty dogs, and you may not fully appreciate the subtleties of Rosamunde’s specialty bratwurst.

Simple and delicious! For newcomers, you order by picking a sausage out of the many varieties. Your sausage, bun, and toppings(depending on which ones you get) will be grilled on the spot. You pay once it’s ready. To the right of the cashier are different kinds of mustard you can top your roll off with! I got the duck sausage with figs, topped with grilled onions and sweet peppers. The toasted bun and the crisp sausage casing added so much to the texture, and everything was simple but flavorful. One roll was pretty filling for around $ 8, but if you have more of an appetite you probably want to order 2. The place is really small with only counter seating, so I’d recommend grabbing one to go. I’ll definitely be back to try the wild boar, which the cashier said is the most popular by far.

Hot dog! This little dive might not look like much from the outside — but take a step in and you will understand why it has so many reviews and most singing its praises. A menu of about 12 different sausages awaits your decision of which one to pick. I couldn’t make a decision, so I asked the cashier what was his favorite. So I ended up with the Merguez: good decision! And topped it was hot peppers and onion. My, oh my! was it good! This place is cash only — so be sure to have it handy for a smooth transaction. This restaurant is small — with about 6 stools to sit on and that just about it. Head over next door to Tornado to eat your hot spicy dog and grab a beer or two as you chow down.

Deep throat worthy. Even my hubby loves to cram their good stuff in his mouth. Yowza. There’s no doubt that the sausages that they serve here are quite tasty. So far, we’ve had the opportunity to try: beer sausage, chicken habanero sausage, Andouille, wild boar, and Hungarian sausage. My two front-runners are the chicken habanero and Hungarian. Their savory sausages are served on a French roll with two toppings of your choice. Any additional toppings are $.50 each. My fave topping choices are grilled onions and hot peppers. While you wait for them to grill your sausage, you’ll want to grab a beer next door at Toronado. Speaking of Toronado, they’ve got a luxurious selection of draught and craft beers. Since seating availability is poor at this cramped Rosamunde location, you’ll end up opting for a table next door. Btw, first time we visited the cashier dude was rude AF, but we DGAF because the sausages and pricing are excellent. Don’t expect service with a smile. Rosamunde, you’ve got yourself a regular! + They don’t take orders for pick up or delivery at this location + Catering available

This is a small in and out the door place that you won’t immediately notice. The place is quite small but packed with a line of hungry dog lovers who are waiting for their order to be called. I loved the wild boar sausage I got, it was juicy, filling and worth every penny. It will satisfy your belly for sure, but you may want to come back to try other flavors. I know I will.

Needed lunch but also needed to sit where The Tanners sat during the opening credits for Full House(aka Alamo Square) ASAP. This spot fit the bill. I love a good sausage(yeah, yeah), so imagine my excitement when I walked in and immediately laid eyes on a case full of a variety of sausages just waiting to be grilled! Now, the guy behind the counter wasn’t the friendliest so if you’re new like me, hopefully this step by step guide helps you: 1) Pick your sausage. I got the spicy beer sausage and it was delicious. 2) DON’T ORDERTOPPINGS. And don’t pay yet. That will come when the sausages are done grilling. 3) In about five minutes, your sausage will be ready. At that time(and at that time only), you can pick your toppings, as well as if you’d like to eat there, next door at Toronado, to go edible(as in, you want to eat it while walking), or to go wrapped up. I chose hot peppers(pretty darn hot), sauerkraut, and to sit there since some stools were available and I had no time for a beer(#FullHousePriorities). 4) Pay with cash and continue on your way. Again, tasty if you like sausages and the price fit the bill. Definitely one star off for the off putting ‘tude of the guy behind the counter but I left full and happy in the end.

I finally got around to trying this place out after being bookmarked for eternity! We ordered: beer sausage(smoked spicy pork and beef) topped with grilled onions and hot peppers chicken habanero(spicy and smoked with tequila) topped with sauerkraut and sweet peppers duck(figs and brandy) topped with sweet peppers and spicy beef chili The beer sausage was pretty good. Great smoky flavor and contrasted our toppings well. Chicken habanero was good, too, but she actually put grilled onions instead of sauerkraut, so I was kind of bummed about that. Was warned that it would be really spicy, but it was just medium-hot for us. Duck sausage. I’m not sure how I felt about it. While it was flavorful, I felt the sausage itself was somewhat dry compared to the other two. HOWEVER, the spicy beef chili takes the cake. Just give me a bowl of that and I’ll be SET. It was definitely the highlight of the meal for me. Not a lot of seating, but a lot of people came in for to-go orders to eat next door, which I felt was pretty nice! I’ll be back to try their burgers!
