Absolutely delicious food(we have takeout), but for the price and portion size, I think I’ll buy elsewhere.

My girlfriend and I are Indian food fanatics. We typically frequent another Indian place off of Divis, but walked along the lower haight and decided to eat here tonight. I’ve had their takeout before and it’s typically good, but tonight was especially delicious. We shared a chicken vindaloo and a handful of other appetizers(hint: get the mulletagawny soup, it’s fabulous). Also, how can you complain when the drinks are cheap and the portions are aplenty? We got so much out of only one entrée that we got some extra rice to make lunch for the two of us tomorrow. Awesome!

The food was good but the service was unbelievably slow, and not very good. First of all, they did not give us our menus for about 10 minutes. I think they all thought maybe that we had already ordered. We ordered our food and it took like 30 – 40 minutes to come. We asked for our bill 3 times. Idk how it was miscommunicated but we didn’t get the bill until we finally walked up to the waiter and basically waited for him to print it for us. I’m actually typing this while waiting for them to come by and take the credit card… Hopefully we make it out!

Don’t. Request. Delivery. The beautiful idea about delivery is that you expect to pay for the convenience of food being delivered on time and food tasting as if you were sitting right in the restaurant; except you’d enjoying the dinner in front of friends, family, or in front of a TV for the solo nights. Apparently, Clay Oven fails in this simple request. A business they chose to be in which I had hoped delivered good food. I made a mistake of choosing a restaurant that was closer to home«thinking» it would be here quicker; big mistake. Food arrived over an hour and 15 minutes later — luke-warm to cold; ordered soup and biryani dish; no brainer for the restaurant. I quickly contacted the restaurant and stated if we paid a fairly good amount for food it should be hot and ready to enjoy; excuse was one their driver was caught in traffic; and two they were having car problems. Who’s problem is this? It’s unfortunate that I have to make a critique on their business model rather than their food. I don’t recommend ordering from them for delivery. This is an epic fail and hope they find a way to either NOT offer delivery or close business. Simple as that. Next.

3.5STARS I love having Indian food after a night of drinking. It’s carby and comforting. On Saturday, January 9th, I decided to try Clay Oven on Haight for lunch. I placed my delivery order through around 11:20pm. It arrived around 12:15pm. Prices below are what I paid using . Looking at their online menu, it looks like prices are a $ 1 higher per item, so I paid $ 4 more than ordering through their online system. I got a standard 10% off with plus a 30% off coupon code, so it was worth it for me. Without any discounts, order through their site since it’s cheaper. *Vegetable samosa($ 5.95): homemade crisp patties, stuffed with fresh potatoes and peas, served with homemade mint chutney and hot and sour tamarind chutney *Chicken tikka masala($ 13.95): clay oven roasted chicken in creamy sauce, spicy hot *Garlic nan($ 3.95): leavened bread stuffed with fresh garlic *Onion kulcha($ 3.95): nan stuffed with onion The veggie samosas were crispy on the outside and soft inside. Good for dipping in the mint chutney or curry. The tikka masala was nice and creamy. I wish it were a little spicier as it didn’t have much heat. I picked the highest spice level too. But the flavors were good. I liked the garlic nan. It was soft with a nice chew. Good garlic flavor. The onion kulcha was a little too oily, wet and doughy for me. Both where charred a tad too much, but I still a good vehicle for the curry. If you like rice, it’s good to note the curry came with a side of rice. Good option for Indian delivery. Just remember to order off their site and not . You’ll save yourself $ 1 per dish.

A-MAZING. Best Indian food I’ve ever had! Food is so flavorful. One bite and the flavor pops in your mouth. My favorite is the chicken tikka masala. The naans are perfectly crisp. The garlic naan mmmmm. The environment is cozy and inviting with Indian music playing. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. My water never got down to half a glass. Highly recommend. Will come back everytime I’m in the city!

Friendly staff. Nice interior. Small space so you’d smell like Indian food after 5 mins of being in there!

Good spot! Reasonable prices and quick/attentive service. Rice is extra but serves 2. Naan was so good and the chicken/lamb dishes were legit — good meat and solid portions. Will certainly go back as its closer to home.

Best garlic nan we’ve ever eaten… ever. The staff was very friendly. The food is great and they have lagunitas on tap for only four dollars. All around great place to eat, and we’ll definitely be back.

The goat cheese Nan was ridiculous delicious. We ordered several curry dishes our first time… but forgot to order rice. It would be really nice if rice automatically came with the dishes. …charge more that’s totally ok. We would still definitely order from them again and again.

Friendly service. Small but cozy restaurant. I’m sure they can host a party in the upper level. Samosas were excellent! Chicken tikka Masala was amazing. They really mean spicy, which I love! Highly recommended it, especially since the kitchen staff is 100% Indian. I can’t wait to go back!

I ordered delivery from here and it’s the best Indian food I’ve had in the city! I placed my order a little late(9pm) and thought it would take awhile since I ordered lamb chops, but it was to my door in about half an hour! The delivery guy was really friendly. He called to let me know when he was 2 minutes away, and was extremely appreciative for the tip. I ordered lamb chops, bengan and rice. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The lamb chops were exceptional — tender, juicy and perfect flavoring. I’d come back just for this dish! 5 stars for the great food and service.

I’ve ordered most of their lamb dishes and chicken dishes. Oh and they have great curry. I enjoy everything I order and they have good customer service.
