I just picked up some of their bread at Speer’s Market in Forestville. What a revelation! This is what bread should be! Speer’s gets it fresh every day. I don’t remember the name of the more sandwichey bread that I got, but it was very seedy and delicious. They also make a slamming Challah that would be great for french toast(if we didn’t eat it before we could get to that point). All around great bread!

Excellent breads crafted with great skill. The appearance, flavor, mouth feel, etc… of these breads are county fair blue ribbon worthy. I purchase Bennett Valley bread at the Santa Rosa farrmer’s market. My only gripe: $ 6.99 for a loaf of Pugliese? Too pricey.

They came to the JCCSF farmers market last year and I bought 2 loaves of the lemon coconut pound cake. Good Lord, it was dee-lish! Scarfed down both loaves in 2 days.

Bought a loaf of their pumpernickel rye at the Christmas Fair of the Hermann Soehne in Petaluma, and was very impressed… great crust, consistency and taste. The closest to me they’re available is at the Kaiser Vallejo farmer’s market on Fridays… now, how do I sneak out of work to get there? Well worth a bread aficianados try.

I bought their pugliese yesterday at the Berkeley famers’ market. This is a very impressive product, with a delicious crust. There’s a lot of excellent bread at the farmers’ market — in fact, I went first to Morell’s Bread but was told by Eduardo Morrell that he’d sold out. There’s also no lack of excellent bread in Berkeley(Acme, The Cheese Board,…). Nonetheless, I was knocked out by the Bennett Valley pugliese and will definitely be back for more.
