Pico Barbershop #2

Haircut suck! Apparently you have to be Mexican to be respected here. I waited for about an hour my turned was skipped 3 times and when I asked when my turn one the main barbers replied we don’t have time for you today.
Less than a minute away I found the most charming spot called Parlor 33 I think it’s my new spot now. P. S. They serve complimentary beer and beverages here and the interior is dope!
Thanks for nothing Pico Barbers you lost a paying customer and I’ll make sure to tell my friend

From NYC, a weekly good clean cut is a must. Best shop in Santa Monica for my style. Martin (marteen) is the man.

This was the worst hair cut I ever got. William didn’t listen to what I said. He cut my hair and then showed it to me. Not at all what I asked for. So I again explained what I wanted he then rushed through it and it came out all uneven. I now have to go to work with a messed up cu. Luckily I have buzzers at home and will be able to even it out myself.
Definately will not be going back here again.

William did a great job on my boyfriend’s hair! He took his time and made sure it was what he wanted. My boyfriend’s been looking for a new barber shop and it’s definitely his go to-​spot now! Really impressed!

Watch out for the guy named Brandon. He literally did the exact opposite of what I wanted and made me look like beaker from the muppets. Although I like all the other barbers there who always do a great job, I felt like he was rushing to leave since it was near closing time. May have to go back to any barbershop in a few weeks just to fix what happened.

I found a new Barber Shop!!!
Nothing beats a great haircut. I recently took a new job in Santa Monica and wanted a shop close to work, so I could go get my haircut and avoid some of the rush hour traffic. But that’s when I felt like the search was going to be difficult, I’m African American and wanted someone that could cut my hair texture well, so the pics were super super helpful in my decision.
The reason I chose this shop was because of the pics Martin posted, the cuts were really good! He is awesome, was able to fit me into his schedule and he did a great job. I came on a holiday, (Presidents’ Day) so not sure about the parking normally! But as soon as I pulled up I was like SCORE! Right in front of the shop. I walked in and Martin was able to get me in the chair instantly since we coordinated the time in advance. He responds super fast if you want to Unilocal Message him.
I recommend this shop without any reservations whatsoever.
Notes: cash only, but the do have an ATM.

Real professional, great atmosphere and staff. Extremely clean-​cut I went in there for a lineup and he did more than above to catering to my critique. Brought out both Shaver and Razor and wasn’t afraid of comment in order to get my hair exactly the way I wanted it. Definitely going to go back. I recommend

This is my home away from home! A barbershop is more than a place to get your haircut. It’s an institution.

Great shop besides from being in a great location the barbers are are talented and friendly been getting my haircuts since 2010 and won’t go anywhere but here.

Martin has been cutting my hair for over 6 years and he always does a great job. He’s one of the busier barbers in the shop but still makes sure to take his time with every client. He’s also very accommodating with scheduling which makes it much easier to come in for a haircut. Finding a good barber can be tough so I’m glad I found this shop. I highly recommend Martin for a good fade.

This review is a bout three weeks late, but here goes:
My wife and I moved here from Sacramento about a month ago, but our apartment wasn’t ready. My wife had to get to work at her new office, so we couldn’t wait. We had to get down to Santa Monica, but we still had no where to live. My wife’s company, CoreLogic (the best company in the world), put us up in a way over-​priced hotel called, La Meridien, on Pico and 4^th Street, for about a week and a half. My review for THAT friggin place is pending. In short… the La Meridien sucks. You shouldn’t have to pay $ 500/​night for a room with clean sheets and towels, since they didn’t offer ANYTHING else.
Anyway, about a week into our stay I was starting to look like crap… like a shaggy dog with really thinning hair. Since I’ve got a guy who’s been cutting my hair for the last 20+ years, I was REALLY reticent about letting anyone touch my hair. I mean, he’s always done an awesome job making me look half way decent. But, he’s in Sac and I’m here starting to look like a bum. Then I met Jody.
Upon consulting Unilocal for a barber shop near the hotel, I found Pico Barbershop #2 (I have no idea where they put #1). I decided to give it a try. I walked in an immediately realized this was as advertised… a no frills place to get your hair cut. It was exactly what I wanted and what I expected. A moment after entering the establishment I was cordially greeted by, Jody. Coincidentally, she came highly recommended by many of the Unilocal members who patron Pico Barbershop #2.
Without giving you the blow-​by-​blow of every hair (the few remaining in my head) she cut, let me say this: She did an absolutely awesome job! I thought my guy in Sacramento was the best I could ever hope for when it came to making me look (tongue-​in-​cheek) good. I didn’t think there was anyone who could have even stood a CHANCE at making my head look as good as he did over the years. Yet, Jody not only did as well as my guy in Sac, she did it better. My hair had never looked so good. My wife was even amazed. Now, I can’t comment as to her expertise with women’s hair, but as for men’s hair, she’s nothing short of the BOMB!
Thank you, Jody. I appreciate what you did for me. I WILL be back… often.

My work moved to SM and I wanted to walk to the closest haircut place and this was it. I’m not familiar with barbershops, but this place was chill, clean, laid back, and beyond friendly.
Freddy or Freddie was my barber and the moment I walked in he was very friendly and ready to cut my hair. I know nothing about haircuts or styles and I told him that all I wanted was a short cut but not buzzed. He took charge and diligently began.
He did a fantastic job and was very cool, introduced me to the other barbers and made me feel like a local.
$ 17 for a 45min attentive cut is perfect.
Cash only.

This is the best barber shop that I have ever been to. Been here twice now and they have done a great job both times with a different barber. $ 17 for haircut is very reasonable.

I’ve been getting my hair cut by Christian for the last 3 years and have never had a bad experience. Coolest and nicest barbers in town for a very decent price. Get that clean fade!!!

I moved to California from Austin about a year ago, and since then have been meandering from barber to barber getting one mediocre cut after another. Today (Labor Day) I wanted to get cuts for me and my son, and stumbled upon this place completely by chance — and now I’ll never go anywhere else.
The cut I got from Christian was even better than I’d imagined it; he did a great job interpreting my vague description and turning it into the best haircut I’ve had in years. He even trimmed up my goatee, which I’ve recently started growing — giving it definition and form so now it looks awesome instead of scraggly and unkempt.
My son sat with Mike, and got an equally great cut — he couldn’t wait to get home and show it off to his mama. As a bonus, Mike did a great job managing a squirming six-​year-​old, keeping him engaged and smiling, and still delivering a great cut.
Tons better than lots of other places I’ve gone, and at a much better price, I intend to be back here every three weeks (travel permitting) to get cleaned up.

Less than a year in LA from South Beach, Miami and I’ve gone to a lot of high end hair salons and high end barbershops of Santa Monica & Abbot Kinney areas and haven’t ever gotten such an amazing haircut as I got here. Christian is the man! Dude respects his craft and puts his heart into his work. I’ll be back every 7 – 10 days to keep looking fresh.
Ask for Christian! He’s the man!
