We recently went in this shop to look around. The displays look nice. Items seem very pricey. Customer service seems to be lacking. There were barely any customers in the store and we weren’t greeted by the people working there. The guy working there with the beard gave us an attitude when we asked questions about products. Yeah, we’ll go somewhere else. No thanks.

I had used the Art of Shaving shave cream but the online retailer I had bought it from stopped carrying it. I live in Hong Kong, so I didn’t know they had stand-alone stores. I came back to LA for a vacation and was so happy to see this one – its beautiful and the staff is super professional. And the product is peerless. They have a small tube that I recommend as its perfect for traveling, as the hard plastic dispensers don’t appeal to me. If you want to give a wonderful gift to someone who uses a bade for shaving, I can’t think of a better choice.

I have eczema and super dry skin. I need a new way to shave. At this point I’ve tried every shaving cream from cvs, target and Walgreens but nothing works Today I stopped by to try out the next level of self care and shaving comfort. The sales lady told me that the store was started by a husband and wife couple in New York. They don’t use alcohol in their products because it irritated their skin. Today the company is owned by Procter and Gamble which explains why they sell fancy handles for Mach 3 razors. I’m hoping that the product(I chose the one without additives or smells) works better than the eos shaving cream which I’ve been using for the last few months. I’m optimistic. How can it be worse for my face than a shaving cream made for women’s legs?

Having recently been reintroduced to single blade shaving, double edge(DE) safety razor or straight(cutthroat) razors, I found the web site and visited the store during the holiday season, and shopping here is a great experience. The store is always stocked and organized in an efficient manner. Even the packaging is color coordinated, Light Blue for Lavender Scent, Yellow for Lemon Scent, Maroon for Sandalwood, etc. The store manager, Yessica, and her Shaving Consultants, Al and Keivyn, are always gracious and willing to talk, even when I’m looking just for information and not buying anything. They even call me by name now whenever I come by. They are a class act. I would have given 5 stars to this store but I had one issue that is not indicative of the staff. I was looking for a de safety razor that they carry but they did not have it. In fact there were none to be had. I had to go to the Century City Store to get it. That store was fully stocked with hardware. One wish, but more than likely it won’t happen, but I hope this store will incorporate the Barber Spa. Thank you Yessica and staff for a great shopping experience.

Classy, nice looking store, small but beautiful array of products. So why 1 star? It boils down to one word, service. I decided I wanted a straight razor. Why did I want such a item? Perhaps as a way of learning to get a closer shave? Or quite simply for a feeling of classiness? It may have been both. My wants however were not the goal of being like those in the store, smug and arrogant. I walked in and inquired about a straight razor, I wasn’t given much information and instead felt rushed to buy one and«get lost». I was told it was sharp and it would provide me the best shave ever, however this wasn’t the case. I took the razor home and opened it, it wouldn’t cut. I thought this might have been my fault but luckily I had connections with those who expertise in such products tell me that the blade was not sold to me «shave-ready». It didn’t help that when I went back to complain I was given a look that seemed to imply: «Hey, you’re not white, tall, and making over 120k a year, so we don’t care about you!» Oh the smugness doesn’t end here! There’s a guy in the store with an awesome mustache, one that I thought was very cool. I go up to him and compliment him with«Woah! I want your stache.» Instead of a simple thank you, he gives me a nasty look and says«Okay then.» What happened to a simple«Thank you, how may I help you?» 2 months pass and the razor is rusting, despite my great care of it. Feeling as if I was ripped off I looked up similar razors online and they’re half the price. Overall this place is a rip-off and unwelcoming. Full of conceited, racist, and judgmental pricks. Unfortunately, I do recall these stores being much better before they were bought out by Procter and Gamble, which followed with sales of more modern razors, this makes me ask: «If you’re advertising as a classic shave shop, then why on earth are you selling Gillette Fusion cartridges?» Unless you want to be ripped off and demeaned don’t come here, I sure as hell won’t ever again.

A friend recommended to try the complete shave kit as a gift idea for my boyfriend for his birthday. I got the sandlewood scented shaving kit for my guy and love it! It even came with one of those old school barber shave brushes! The shaving cream is great! So rich, creamy and moisturizing… Makes his skin so soft and even makes him look younger He says that a regular disposible razor isn’t enough, you’ll need the real thing but absolutely get great results, on account of the super rich shaving cream. Oh did i mention I love the way his face smells smells after? Yeah, I like that ;)

The sales staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Before visiting the Art of Shaving, I just used your typical drugstore products — I was skeptical of the premium«artisan» lineup that the salesman«Al» was pitching, but he was so passionate that I figured, «what the heck.» Having used the Art of Shaving for a couple months now, I won’t go back to a normal shave. I recommend you go with the full«four elements of a perfect shave»(pre shave oil, shaving brush, shaving cream, after shave lotion). I’ve forgotten to use the pre-shave oil on occasion — it does make a difference. I did have some problems with one of the products(the shaving cream lid wouldn’t open) — I brought it back to Al and he replaced it without any hassle. It’s a premium line of products, so don’t expect SavOn drug’s pricing — if you have some disposable income and you want to treat yourself to a better shave, then this is the place to go.

They do not offer an actual shave or cut here. Their next closest location with a spa is Century City. You can buy a $ 500 shaving kit though.
