I have been a loyal shopper online for decades now, both online and in store. The clothing and shoes are fantastic, yet the current«manager» of the Valley Fair store needs an etiquette and basic customer service course. Upon asking for an adjustment, she seemed overjoyed to reprimand me and proceeded to enter my information into the register in a very rude and uncalled for fashion. There was zero empathy, even after waiting for assistance for what was 10 minutes turned into 20 due to her temper. It’s a shame that no one from the corporate office could view that exchange. She needs to go.

Not Impressed– When I shopped at a Talbots on Cape Cod last month, a leopard belt caught my eye. The price seeemed reasonable — $ 43. But when I saw the ‘made in China’ label that was it for me. I always believed Talbots was a high-end store, but this told me that it’s in the same league with K-Mart but outrageously overpriced.

Wow– did KMart buyout Talbots? That is what the Valley Fair store looks like. I have shopped at Talbots all my life, but what change. Store is smaller, clothes on racks like at a discount store, and very cheap looking jewelry. Gone are the elegant, classy retail sales reps. What happened? Apparently in Aug 2012, the lovely old Mass. retail store was bought-out by an investment firm«Sycamore Partners» which made the former president of Vitamin Shoppe(???) chief executive and chief financial officer. Please«cheap» is not«edgy». Yep — it’s all about cutting costs, selling discounted merchandise, and working the brand — And it shows! A friend tells me the Stanford Mall Talbots store is the same. What a shame… Used to be a classy place to shop.

My mom always buys cloths from Talbot, I think the selection is very limited, though my moms loves their quality of fabrics. Nice and friendly staff.

I have been shopping at Talbots for a very, very long time and I have spent a decent amount of money. The customer service at the Valley Fair location has consistently gone down hill the past few years. Today I needed to get a new business suit for an important work related function and I called at 9AM. I am not able to order from the catalog due to the timing of the event and when I inquired which suits the store had in stock, I was reminded(in an annoyed tone) that the store does not open until 10AM. I suggest maybe not answering the phone prior to 10AM if you are not willing to assist. Talbots is not cheap, and you need to step up your customer service to match the pricing. I will shop where the quality and pricing of the product matches the customer service.

This is the biggest Talbot’s I’ve seen. My mom likes the quality of their clothes. This is not a cheap place and sales people can come of a snobbish but usually they are quite nice to customers.

Prices are too high — even with sales. There aren’t enough colors. If you don’t look good in the three colors they offer each season, you are out of luck. Occasionally, the clerks are nasty about returns — or at least pushy that you buy something else in the return’s place. On the other hand, they carry large size petites and Talbot’s is one of the few clothing stores that do that.

Their customer service is very variable– some of them act like they care you have a good shopping experience– others, not at all! Usually the former. I do not think an individual customer matters to them– its all about ringing in the dollars. Disappointed! Theres a lot of choices out there, we women will go elsewhere.

I shop this store probably more often than my husband wishes I did. I have gotten to know the sales staff and I personally find them very accomodating. Talbot is a hi and miss for me. Sometimes I walk in and LOVE their merchandise and someimes nothing is calling to me. Their designers seem to be on rotation and so I keep my eye for the real unique peices I will keep i my wardrobe for a long time. I only wish they stay more classic and keep away from the Jay Jill look — that of course is their sister company. I miss the matching bags and shoes. but still can get those on line at their site. Their shoe style has taken a turn for me. Too funky and not as classy as they use to be. I still shop there though.

I came in here today for their red hanger sale and was really shocked at 1) how overpriced the stuff is here — for example, a silk skirt for $ 170, marked down to $ 80 is still priced out by Ann Taylor, and 2) how unhelpful and borderline rude the service is. When I asked about the sales prices, which were totally obfuscated by the repeated numbers on the tag as well as the«range» of percents off that red number but didn’t apply to numbers that didn’t have any markdowns, the rep just gave me a look like I was an idiot for not being able to understand. I finally gave up and wandered out; no one offered to help in the 20 minutes I was there. Also, most of the clothes are cut and styled for people in their 50s-60s. Which I guess is OK. But the service should be better and the sales signs really need to be more clear.

Pros: products(found what I was looking for, for discounted price) Cons: customer service I found a pair of boots for a good discounted price and believed in the quality. However, the customer service wasn’t that great. The staff barely paid attention to their customers unless the latter chased after them. When do store clerks realize how important customer service is? Don’t they realize they’re in competition, with the whole Valley Fair mall?

I’ve come to this store with my mother a few times, and it’s not getting the recognition is deserves! Now, despite other comments made both on this review site and in general; I believe this store does the best they can. What people fail to recognize is the fact that at any store, the employees deal with crabby and rude people on a daily basis. They deal with people that try to steal, harass them, demand help(not ask; remember, if you want respect, you have to give it first!), and throw a fit if things don’t go their way… How would you feel after a single day of THAT! I believe Talbots deals with more of these people than ANYWHERE else that I’ve ever experienced/seen. So in terms of customer service, this staff is amazing. They deal with more bullshit without killing anybody than I ever thought was possible… I once witnessed an employee there that endured a return by a woman who was extremely rude and had obviously been in a horrible mood before she even walked in the door. The more amazing part is, through out the whole process, the employee wasn’t anything but respectful to that customer! This place is GREAT! The customer service is on point and satisfactory.

I like Talbots, shopping at the stores and the catalog. I’m typing this in Talbots tshirt and jeans. This store could use some customer service work. I walked from one end to the other, carrying two pairs of pants, before someone asked if I’d like some help. And, that clerk was in the Woman’s section, even though I had regular sized garments. She made the sale, though, so good for her. This store is very large, and has a nice selection. Now, let’s just get the staff to pay attention.

Back in the days, the staff was amazing. Nowadays, well, the old staff is still amazing but the newer staff need some work. No matter what, Talbots has always been top notch with their customer service. Believe it, the Valley Fair customer service rocks. When it comes to the clothing, don’t be surprise with the price point, it’s really reasonable for it’s quality. Just be glad it’s not being produced by some sweatshop. But I have to say, the sales are truly amazing.
