Kara dosa, pongal and vada from this place were really tasty. Service was okay. Definitely recommend this place to dosa lovers.

Had the podi Masada dosa and tea. The dosa was one of the better ones I had in the bay area, especially the podi version. But the tea was clearly just reheated and undrinkable.

Very expensive. You may not find the waiter there in place. Sometimes they will pop out the kitchen, you should catch them to give your order. It will take at-least 30 mins to serve your dish after you give the order. Even if you want to catch the waiter to check the status you may not be able find one. So be prepared to be there 30 mins earlier before you fell hungry. Chutney’s will be served chill. Worst in service.

This is a small joint tucked inside Saravan Store in El Camino. We reached this joint by chance and on a hunch tried out the idlis, they were soft and fluffy, and by far the best idlis around here. The dosa and uttapam were tasty and best of all non greasy. A must try brunch joint for South Indian breakfast…

Affordable south indian restaurant weirdly located inside an almost discontinued India grocery store. Tried masala dosa, mini idli, sambar vada, lunch thali, etc during few visits and my family found the taste to be decent. I think they should do something serious about the whole location part of this restaurant to get more customers.

The taste of the food here is pretty inconsistent — the idlis have been good all the times I’ve eaten here, but the sambar varied from good to horrible. The coconut chutney was never good any of the times I’ve tried it here. The dosas have always arrived cold, which is strange. I’ve had the lunch meals only twice here, but it tasted very good both times. Now for the deal breaker. The service is virtually non-existent, and incredibly slow if there is ever any. I keep going here every few months after I forget how bad the service and ambiance are, and then vow to never visit again. Verdict: There are plenty of other places nearby with better food and much better service. Stay away.

I liked the sambhar very much, the vada was also very crunchy, although there were not many people to attend us. But food was good. This is one of the restaurants that is open until late.(11pm) I like that fact itself. Generally if you go at places late night they are not even willing to serve you, but for a surprise here we were served good hot food.

Food was nice and service was also good, really liked the idlis and vada they serve. What I didn’t like was the loud music and its location, as it’s inside a grocery store.

We went there for breakfast. It was a very bad experience. The dosa was very soggy. The poori’s were the worst and oil soaked. The vada was hard and felt stale. The coconut chutney and sambar too were not good. Overall a terrible experience.

Located in the desolate Saravana store. The place is weird vacated. After standing around for a while finally someone came out. We were seated while 2 little girls watched Disney stuff. Weird. My problem with new Indian places is they have grand me us but when you ask for the obscure stuff they never have it. Sk we settled for so, e normal idlies with sambar and a special cheese masala dosa. Decent flavor and very good price. Strange ambiance though and the cuisine exists in other joints nearby. 3.5 stars

This is one of those places where I really enjoyed the food and it’s affordability, but I would not readily recommend the location. It did not feel like a restaurant at all — it was more like a smaller outlet within a big chain store. Saravana stores — inside which this restaurant is located was empty and lifeless. So that definitely affects the ambiance and the vibe of this restaurant. I went in when it was not busy so we got what we ordered right away. I really enjoyed the Idli and vada that were served with the spring dosa which I had ordered. But I have had better spring dosa in other Indian establishments in town. Idli was really soft and perfect — I really wanted to get their recipe, but I knew they won’t share :((May be I should have asked!) I would definitely come back for a quick bite, however if you plan to bring a date/friend for a treat — take them else where.

We requested food for an important ceremony more than a week in advance /reconfirmed multiple times, and they ditched us the night before the function saying that the chef went on leave. Our relatives helped us out and we managed to serve the guests whatever could be prepared in the last minute. This was a really nightmarish experience for us, and I would never go to this place for anything again. If I had an option I would not give a single star in this review.

Great food! The appearance and ambience is misleading. There was no one when I entered, and I was skeptical about the food. I ordered a plate of idlies and sambar vada. The idlies were soft and hot. Sambar was good. A good place for south indian food. And it’s so damn cheap! I paid $ 7 for a plate of 3 idlies and 2 vadas. Don’t judge by the appearance and give this place a try.

TL;DR You can go here for a quick bite. I tried idli here and mini idlies. I was expecting their main dish to be exemplary. Not up to the mark! It might suit a tamil taste more than an andhrite taste. Probably, they shuld start serving different kinds of idlies suiting all micro-cusines of south india. Location, is hidden in a half empty closing store. So, not the best restaurants for a family/date settings.

Good South Indian food served here, its basically inside the Saravana Store, so go inside and ask some one for the restaurant. Tried Idli, Vada and Dosa and loved everything. Service is the only thing which concerned me, if your in a hurry, avoid this place as the pace is slow. Not great ambience either, just simple good food.

Pros — 1. A few dishes were good. Like, really good — Utthapam, Kara masala dosa, dahi vada. 2. Its cheap Cons — 1. Service is slow 2. A lot of dishes we wanted were unavailable(to be fair, it was pretty late and its a brand new place) 3. A few dishes were just OK. 4. Location is really weird. Like a really really casual place(its part of a departmental store)

I wanted to check this place out after having heard about it on the radio and having seen some flyers. The first interesting thing about this place is that its inside a convenience store ala Walmart/Mc Donalds. I am glad that finally someone sought to implement this idea for an Indian store/restaurant. Located on El Camnino Real, strikingly, the place was deserted(both the store and the restaurant) on a Sunday evening. I ordered an Executive Combo that had the following items Idly — 1 star I’ve had much better idlis at a lot of places in South Bay. Being the title-dish, one would expect it to be top notch. It either felt like the batter was stale or some low-grade ingredients were used. Vadai — 3 stars This was okay. It was crispy and hot. But again the inner portions felt«old» Podi Dosai — 3 stars This was good — crispy and light. The podi could have tasted better though. The chutneys(coconut, onion/tomato) were good. The sambhar was quite watery and looked like had been put together with little effort. Coffee — 3 stars It took a while coming and was average, delivered in a tumbler/davara, the usual South Indian style. Overall, given the strategic location and the number of people that they can potentially cater to, this place needs to improve a lot, real fast. All the best!
