I’m really sad I only got to go to this place once and now they’re no more. Never did try the burgers part but the bbq links and ribs were pretty good. One of my co-workers was licking the plate for the sauce and I asked the owner if we could just give him a mug full of it. Owner was a really friendly guy and hopefully he’s still doing his thing and resurfaces again.

The food is good and surprisingly very filling. The meat used in the hamburgers is seasoned, and even when drenched in that awesome bbq sauce, is still noticeable and tastes amazing. I feel happy and full after eating lunch here. The bbq sauce used in their burgers and bbq is really good. The food is great, but the service is awesome! There may be only 3 tables to sit at, and the chairs might wobble a little bit. But a romantic setting isn’t exactly what I came here for. The guy behind the counter alone deserves the 5 stars. He’s just an awesome person, and he remembers customers. He isn’t stingy with the napkins, he plops a huge pile in front of you as you begin your meal. And he comes by a little later with wet-naps to make sure you’re all pretty and cleaned up when you’re good to go.

I’ve been going to this place since I started working at Fedex Kinkos next door over a year ago. The service is always awesome and the food is amazing. Some of the best burgers/Fries/and ribs you’ll ever have. If this is your first time going, order two ribs with some fries. Very good. Everyone I’ve taken here loves it also. The man who works there is also very friendly, makes you feel right at home. FIVESTARS!

Wow. Some of the best BBQ sauce I’ve had EVER. I got 2 ribs with french fries and a bread roll for $ 8.50. The sauce is really really good but the meat was a little too salty for me. I like this place better than Andy’s or Jon Jon’s and that’s saying a lot. Gotta deduct a star for a total of 3 tables in which to dine in.

–The owner is very friendly and sweet. –The BBQ pork sandwich, tasty. –The spicy sausage, actually spicy, & delish. –The red velvet cake, had an unusual flavor compared to others I’ve had, but still really good. The food costs a little more than I expected, but the food was delicious. We are definitely going back to try those burgers.

I’ve known about Just Burgers and Q for a while but always seemed to be in the area right after finishing a meal. I finally decided to plan a trip there after reading several reviews, being the burger aficionado that I am. There are several levels to the burger world, beginning with the fast food places. They offer a familiar taste, but you generally will not get a burger that has a flavorful meat taste. Then there’s In ‘n’ Out and Mojo Burger, which raise the bar on quality, but still don’t offer the taste that can only come from a backyard BBQ. If you want that, you need to go to a non-chain restaurant with a home-cooking mindset and quality ingredients. Just Burgers and Q is that kind of place. The owner and chef, Elliot, is a very friendly guy. I ordered a «classic burger» with cheese and chatted with him while he prepared it. Just Burgers and Q has been around for eight years, and it’s easy to see why it’s prospered. In addition to the burgers(nice meat taste, the right amount of grill flavoring, sesame bun with the beautiful charred grill marks), Elliot offers ribs that are«fall-off-the-bone» tender(I also tried one while he prepared the burger). Giving the menu a quick scan, there are fries and onion rings, as well as ribs, chicken and more. It’s real food, not drive through window food. There is still room in the world for kind, decent, hard-working people with quality products and service. Just Burgers and Q is proof of that. If you like this kind of food, visit soon. You absolutely will not be disappointed.

Alright, reading up on other reviews of Unilocal I feel that I have to submit my opinion of this place, to give maybe an extreme view of this place. First off, how I found the place. I just walked by it, and I saw that there is just a counter, and two tiny tables in front, offering hamburgers. It was closed, but I’m so happy about a potential gem that I remembered, and went back a couple of weeks later. Boy was I glad that I did. Now, on to the«style» or «décor» or «locale». It is a tiny place that is owned by one guy for 8 years, he works the grill, has occasional help, but it isn’t fancy, it isn’t ritzy. No you don’t want to roll up in your fancy car to bring your first date here to impress her with Silicon Valley fanciness. You are forewarned! Don’t complain the atmosphere here is not fancy, it doesn’t ever try to be fancy. It’s not in a fancy spot. They offer you BBQ based food, with no gimmicks, other than a friendly smile from the staff and lots of napkins when you need em(and you will). Next up, the service. I wish there was a way to give 349854 stars here. I moved to the south bay about half a year ago from a much smaller city from a certain country bordering up north, and I was accustomed to getting my face known at diners or cafes and enjoying a talk with the person behind the counter. In the south bay, it doesn’t seem you have that many opportunities for that kind of experience. Here however, I immediately knew this was a person behind the counter that would actually care when they ask how my burger is, because they are the one who cooked it. I did not catch the owners name, but after eating he asked a lot of questions about how I found the place, where I work etc, and we had a great conversation. He treated me to free dessert after to try out the red velvet!(More on that later). All in all, this is just a friendly guy who will make you feel welcome. Ah, and now the food. I went there hoping for a hamburger, but did notice the other items on the menu, and I definitely have to go back. They have pork BBQ ribs, grilled chicken bbq pork sandwiches other than the burgers. A burger was all that was needed though. I went with a deluxe, 3 ¼lb patties, 3 pieces of cheese, and just the right amount of toppings. When the burger came out, I was floored. These patties were hand made right before I ordered it, and each one carried a very distinctive delicious seasoned flavour. They were simply amazing. One side note here. When I get a burger, I want just a damn good burger. I don’t want something with 39483984 toppings, with a grilled goat and stir fried urinal pucks on top to create something ‘unique’, and I sure as hell don’t consider a burger a ‘gourmet’ food so I’m not interested in gourmet burgers, because frankly something like the Counter Burger is just a waste of money and time. So, back to JBnQ. These guys brought out a perfect hamburger. Sesame seed bun, not too big, not too small(mine was fresh, not sure if it would be stale another time as per another reviewer, but I am reporting my experience for now), a bit of lettuce, some of their secret sauce that seemed to be quite mild thousand island, which was welcome because it wasn’t overpowering, tomato, onion, just enough of each. The main focus on this baby was the MEAT and the CHEESE, which was ultimately grilled to perfection. The patties weren’t so thick that you lost the flavour and went to regular ground beef right in the middle, but not so thin that you were only getting grilled crisp on the outside. A perfect burger in my books. Simple, and delicious. I got fries on the side, not really anything too special there, but I ate em all which is something(I’m generally not a fries type of person). I was treated to some dessert by the owner, the aforementioned«red velvet». It turns out its a chocolate cake that has red food colouring(hence the name) topped with a layer of cream cheese icing. The cake was actually really good! It’s simple, but the fact that they warmed it up so much and the cream cheese was oozing around made it delicious. It tasted almost like it was right out of the oven, so I’ll definitely make sure to get some when I go back. All in all, I was happy. Happy I found a no-frills burger joint that took pride in giving me a delicious tasting burger, and also happy that I found staff that was interested in having a chat. 5* here, and I’ll definitely go back. Give it a shot, it’s worth it!

I love this place so much. The guy who works there(I’m guessing is the owner) remembers faces. It made me feel special when he remembered me haha. Well the burgers and bbq are pretty good. But the real reason I go back is for the red velvet cake. It’s sooo good that I start to fiend for it on random days haha. Overall, small but a very great place.

If I had to rate this place on atmosphere, it’d be lucky to get one star, as it is located in the middle of a particularly decrepit 60s-era stripmall. but when I want barbecue, glitz takes a firm backseat to flavor, so the(depressingly) homely appearance don’t signify. I agree with the reviewer below who indicates that a knife would be a useful implement for the restaurant to provide — if you’re going to eat here, make sure you’ve got a pocketknife! Also — the guy who runs the place is friendly but sort of forgetful — he got our order wrong… Anyway — onto the ‘cue: This place just does it right. The meat falls right off the ribs and the chicken is perfect — crispy outside, tender inside, and full of smoky goodness. The sauce isn’t quite as tangy as I like, but it’s also not the liquid candy so many California barbecue joints like to slather on their smoked meats. It has notes of sweet, sour and spicy and complemented the smoky flavor of the meat well. Unfortunately, the side-dishes aren’t up to the same standard. The slaw was essentially flavor-free. The only reason I ate it was to get SOME fiber in there to combat the overload of meat. The potato salad was OK. I wanted to try the beans, but apparently somehow«baked beans» were translated into«potato salad» — maybe next time… Anyway — bottom line is this: If you want a place to take that special someone, keep looking. On the other hand, if you hunger for some messy, tasty barbecue you can do a lot worse than just burgers and Q. Maybe someday I’ll try a burger…

If you want a truly great burger, you should go to Sliders, but if you can’t make it for one reason or another, this place ain’t a bad runner up. The firewalker burger is one of the best burgers i’ve had, and to be honest the hot sauce they use for it is what makes me come back for this places burgers. If Sliders managed to get that firewalker sauce there, well… I’d only go here for the BBQ. Which is actually really good too! The sandwiches and ribs are delicious, and everything is always very affordable. The guy at the counter is very friendly, although if you’re picky about toppings make sure you stress what you don’t want, as they tend to forget that. Their baked beans are some of the best i’ve ever had, second to my dads own homemade beans, and I always get a double order of them they’re so damn good. The fries and potato salad are also very delicious, and I love that you can get peach cobbler as well. One of the best things about this place is that they deliver, and frankly, having burgers or BBQ delivered is so much better than the usual ho hum pizza. Why more places don’t deliver I don’t understand, i’m sure theres a market for delivered food other than pizza! All in all, a really nice place to grab a bite to eat, or to feed a whole bunch of people. The slabs of ribs are huge!

It’s always weird when your Unilocal is so different from other Unilocal… but my Unilocal is. I really enjoyed my burger combo from«Jb’s and Q.» I love Unilocal’s feature that allows you to filter by city, I was searching for a burger IN Santa Clara and Kirk’s and Juicy Burger were out. Thank goodness I found this place because it was closer too me than the other options anyway. The Mister who helped me was so friendly and welcoming and even though it was 4pm(a.k.a. nap time), he definitely brightened my dull dull Wednesday. I notice another Unilocaler was put of by his good spirits. Also, a lot of the Unilocaler’s feel that it’s unfortunate that this place is a «hole in the wall» of a strip mall. Well excuuuuuuuuse them! If you’re looking for atmosphere and ambiance with your burger, why not high tail it to The Counter at Santana Row or feel free to drop in at the sparkling new Kirk’s Steakburgers on Homestead but take your plastic with you because you’re gonna pay for it. I enjoyed the minimalist vibe at Jb’s and Q because it reminded me of an old school burger/bbq joint as opposed to a burger restaurant. There’s a difference. Maybe the owners are trying to run a restaurant and serve good food in a place they can afford. Sorry but the whole South Bay is ridden with old school strip malls, get over it. I’m verging on «mini rant.» Sorry. To summarize, I got the ¼ lb Classic burger with pepper jack and fries and soda. Total $ 7.99. Not bad. Burger was filling, I honestly can say that my patty wasn’t thin and my fries were super hot and fresh. The fries were very good, and I don’t even do fries. Were they frozen, I can’t say, but at least they didn’t taste like it. Gonna go back for some bbq and I hope they don’t change a thing about this place :)

I didn’t actually go inside or anything my boyfriend ordered food for me and brought it to my work. I just got a grilled chicken sandwich & fries. The chicken sandwich was good. I had asked for no mayo but got a ton of mayo on it. I tried to scrape off most of it but there was quite a bit. But the chicken was delicious and tender. The french fries were okay. My boyfriend said it was one of the best burgers he’s had in awhile so thats the reason for the 4 star rating. My co-worker loves this place so on Friday we’re going to go again.

What a nice little neighborhood find!(Okay, we had to drive to this neighborhood, but still a nice little find:) Arrived a few minutes before 1pm on Friday and things were pretty quiet. The place was very clean given that its appearance boarders on being a bit dive-ish. I ordered the Firewalker burger and the DH order the Theo special(1 bbq rib, 1 pc bbq chicken, fries). The fries were quite good. My burger was pretty good, but it was way overloaded with their secret sauce, which the consensus is that it’s modified thousand island. I didn’t detect any sweetness or ketchupy flavor in it. For me, it lacked flavor and added an almost melted-cheesy texture. I didn’t think the sauce — or the large amount of it — added to the burger. In addition to the secret sauce, there was also bbq sauce and some back-throat spiciness. I really like spicy so this hit the spot. There was a slight bitterness to the bbq sauce, reminiscent of what I taste when I add Jack Daniels to bbq sauces. The burger had a nice balance of fresh produce. When I was down to two bites, I was able to put the burger down and take it apart. Only then did I get a taste of the flavor to the meat, which was really good. I wish I could have had less of the sauce and more of the meat flavor. The meat was also very very thin and I think I was more in the mood for a thicker, less dressed burger(Watched an Al Roker show the night before and some diner did burgers by grabbing a huge handful of meat, packed it into a ball, flattened it out just a bit, then put it on the grill and covered it with what basically looked like a bowl. They looked so good!) DH liked his rib, saying it was cooked perfect. He ordered dark meat chicken and received a thigh, which he said was good but a bit dry. All in all, we wouldn’t go out of our way again to go here, but if we were out and about and found ourselves in the neighborhood while hungry, we’d certainly pop in for a bite.

Never had the BBQ here, always the burgers. I don’t know this place falls into the«hole in the wall» category, but if it doesn’t it teeters somewhat close. The burgers here have a different taste to them. They either season the meat here, or it is that well seasoned griddle that they cook it on, but you get this very distinct flavor from a burger here. They use fresh ground meat for their burgers, no frozen stuff here. Just Burgers also uses a variation of 1000 island dressing as their«special sauce». As played out as it is, I still think it tastes good. Everyone here is really friendly. I think my picture is actually up on the wall from going there a few times. The only thing about this place that keeps it from 5 stars, are the hamburger buns. They can have a stale taste from time to time. There is so much effort into the other parts of their burgers, and they drop the ball on the buns! I’ll have to try the BBQ out one day and report back.

Just Burgs was the spot for me and my old coworker when we worked at Starbucks off El Camino and San Thomas. The guys that work there are really friendly(I think its family ran). I always got the Bronco burger and the BBQ chicken. Only set back to the place is its so small its not a place to go with a big group cause there’s only two tables in there. Check this spot out whenever you’re in Santa Clara.

This is a good burger joint with large juicy patties and great fries. I particularly like the spicier burgers and my wife prefers the Cali with avocado and such. I’m probably less wow’d by the BBQ, which is tender and tasty, but they don’t use nicer rib cuts like Baby Back or St. Louis. Their ribs are sort of that«end cut» which while economical, is Chew City. It’s pretty much a takeout place, with seating for about 8 people. I suggest you call ahead for burgers since they’re made to order and can take 10 minutes or so. Also make sure you check your bag on the way out. There have been a couple of times where I didn’t get everything I asked for.
