I have been eating and ordering pizza from Rusty’s since I was a kid(several decades now). Never had an issue until last weekend. My friend and I decided to order a delivery. The order showed up wrong. Half no cheese somehow was no cheese at all(after two follow up calls to confirm). Then the unthinkable happened. Looking closely at a piece of pizza we discovered something moving. Maggots! Yes, this is not a joke, we discovered worms moving around on top of the pizza. My assumption is that they are in the old sauce and because we didn’t have cheese they were not drowned in melting cheese. We immediately called the order line to tell them what we were witnessing. We were told the manager from that location would call us immediately. That did not happen and now two days later I’m still sickened just thinking about the portion that we did eat. I’m not into reviewing every experience on Unilocal but this is a cause that needs to be shared. Manager — still waiting for my call.

Great place at a very good value for expensive Santa Barbara! Definitely worth the trip if you are in the mood for pizza!

Worst Rusty’s we have found. The food tastes old and fridge/freezer burnt. Salads, cheese, and many toppings tastes gross. They also want to charge for sides of dressing, which they haven’t done at other locations.

What a shame. This place used to have a Great canadian bacon sandwich and now its like eating fast food. First off it came with literally two slices of canadian bacon so I sent it back and they added a few slices that are as thick a piece of paper. Second off the meat is tasteless. Like most restaurants they are sacrificing quality for price. The owner should be ashamed of serving this kind of cafeteria style food. He obviously has no pride in his food but rather has a greedy mentality of trying to make more and more money at cost of serving lousy food.

Rustys is a Santa Barbara stylish men that everyone knows and it is a good alternative to dominoes or Papa John’s and maybe only deserve three stars but because I’ve been eating it for so long I give it a generous four stars even though there are places that probably cost about the same that have a better pizza it’s just a name I can count on.

I’d prefer to give Rusty’s a 2 ½ stars… they truly are about as average as it comes when compared to REAL pizza. The salad bar is my favorite part, and it’s not even because it’s great, but like everything else at Rusty’s, it’s down home mediocrity that just tastes good sometimes… and that’s ok! If we all ate 5 star meals all day, every day, they’d all cease to be special. So, if you’re looking for special, this probably isn’t the place for you. If you’re looking to eat unhealthy but tasty«enough» food that’ll send you into an almost instant food coma, swing on down to Rusty’s, it’ll do just fine.

Rusty’s has lost me as a customer for a very simple reason. Their customer service is the epitome of awful, and I won’t spend my money on a company that treats its customers the way I was. They messed up my order at 9 pm. Told me to wait another 45 minutes for my correct order. When I asked what kind of discount I could have because I wasn’t paying full price for something that takes double the time for them messing up, I got a rude response from the kid that«by him getting me my original order, he was helping me, and I just wasn’t understanding that.» After a rather unpleasant conversation, I was hung up on by the kid. I called back and canceled the order because I wasn’t willing to wait, nor was I giving them any money after the exchange I just had. They said I would see a refund on my account. I get crap from customers at my job all day long. For things that are entirely the customers fault. In no circumstance is it ok to argue with a customer the way this kid did with me. Especially over pizza. If I were to speak to a customer the way this kid did to me, I’d be fired. No questions asked. I tried getting in touch with a manager.(Even asked what his managers first and last name was. He told me his name was Gary, but when I asked what his last name was, he said«You don’t need that type on information.) I tried calling stores. I emailed the«Contact Us» button on their website. Nothing. No calls back, no email. Pitiful. So I wait for the pending charge to fall of my bank account. I didn’t really think it would be that easy, and I was right. The charge posted onto my account, tip and all, and now I get to deal with my bank and disputing the charge. For a company who is a local favorite such as Rusty’s, its sad to have this kind of experience. I meet a lot of out of towners, who ask me for recommendations on where to eat with the family, and I will happily send them elsewhere from now on.

I just returned from Rusty’s on Upper State. It was gross! My 7 year old son pointed out a dead cockroach on the floor(I know that ALL restaurants have cockroaches), and when I told the cashier she said, «OK, thanks» and then did NOTHING about it. I was there for 25 minutes and the cockroach was there when I left. It’s probably still there. In addition, we arrived at 11:45 and it was empty, yet there was salad droppings all over the floor. No attempts were being made to sweep up the floor. So, when the thin crust pizza I ordered arrived as a deep-dish pan pizza, that was the last straw. Fair the well, Rusty’s. I’ve always strived to support local SB businesses but not at the expense of health and good service.

Rusty’s is my favorite pizza delivery. I used to go to the uptown location as a kid and loved it. The thin crust is my favorite, nice and crispy!

Decent pizza for what it is. It tastes very similar to straw hat pizza. I had them deliver 6 pizzas and they were right on time. I like the giant salad we got too. They had an abundant amount of vegetables in this salad as opposed to other places for salad.

Good pizza, but I’m not going to be giving that a review this time around. Today I’ll be discussing what I imagine new born baby poop feels like to eat. I’m talking of course about the appalling chicken wings I regrettingly ordered. they were about the size of baby carrots, and after eating 2(out of the 20) I threw them in the trash. As a side note, I don’t know what they cook those winglets in, but it happened to feel like new born baby poop when they came out, so maybe it’s a vicious cycle. 0⁄10 would not recommend.

This pizza place is AWESOME! There is a self-serve salad station for those of you who like to customize your food. The best part though, is definitely their pizzas! My friends and I had a hankering for pizza, so this was the closest location to our hotel. They had a great variety of combinations and all of their pizza was freshly-made in their wood-based ovens. We were able to watch our pizza being made, from beginning to end. The employees there were cheerful and energetic and made waiting a breeze for us. The medium pizza with 3 toppings cost us around $ 16-$ 18. I think that if you don’t mind the quality/freshness of your pizza and just want pizza in general, then maybe go with a cheaper place(Little Caesar’s). But Rusty’s pizza dough is so delicious and light — the pizza was also piping hot and fresh out of the oven! Worth every penny!

I know good pizzia(disclaimer, I am from Chicago and respect the New York vs Chicago pie debate. But I digress) Rusty is popular in Santa Barbara, as they are everywhere, but it reminds one of walking into a 90’s Pizzia Hut with video games, salad bars. Nuff said

This place was AWFUL. Filthy, expensive, bad customer service. The carpet was disgusting, the bathrooms were disgusting… The whole place was just dirty. The apathetic employee that took my order got it wrong. When she called my name and I went up to get it… I told her it couldn’t be my pizza cause it was all wrong. She didn’t say a word… just stared at me and then slowly walked over to the trash can, stuck her hoof in it and dug my crumbled order ticket out. She said«it must be yours… you had meatball, right?» I said, «yeah that’s the only thing that is right on it.» She just stared like a numbskull at me and made no attempt to fix the problem. So, not wanting to wait for them to screw the next order up… I said«oh I guess this will have to do since you couldn’t care any less.» Again… blank stare. Maybe it would have helped if I spoke Spanish? Possibly, idk. Oh yeah… did I mention it was dirty? Looked like a Tijuana whore house in there.
