Love love this place. The menu is smallish but everything is great. Fresh ingredients and unique flavors. Love the pizza and salads. Fun sitting outside too.

excellent ambiance, laid back, fresh ingredients, and friendly staff; the quinoa and arugula salad was tasty and not overly bitter. The Margherita pizza was outstanding. Good job, Lucky Penny!

First time here the service was great very friendly. Ordered the pork sandwich which was excellent as well as the chips the make! Best thing was the delivered to the brewery that is right around the corner! Don’t forget to take a Pic of the inside that is covered in pennies

Lucky Penny! One word: FLAVORFUL! This is a cute little place with great vibe and delicious food! From the staff to the music — a win! We got the The Lucky Margherita pizza and the Quinoa + Arugula Salad– bomb! Combined together or apart deliciousness! Their chips are good but a bit spicy. Cute place to have lunch or grab a cup of coffee. And it’s right next to The Lark!

Very fresh tasting food and awesome cold brew coffee. I had the arugula and quinoa salad. Perfect size and the salad was great. I regretted not making the decision to turn a sandwich into a salad option because I didn’t see it on the menu until it was too late. While waiting in line, the smell of the pizza may convince you to go for it. It is really hard to make a bad decision with what you decide to order here.

This was delicious. We had the arugula salad and decided we need to try to learn how to make it. It was lemony and delectable. We also had a pizza and the pulled pork sandwich which were fantastic. The only small complaint would be that the chips that came with the sandwich were too salty to eat. The outdoor patio was very pleasant as well.

My boyfriend and I went here for Valentine’s Day, it was packed and the service was horrible. The place is tiny. It took over 40 minutes for our order to come out(a sandwich and flat bread pizza) after I stood in line 15 min before to order it) so overall wait 55 min before we got our food. My boyfriend asked one of the servers if she could check on our order and she said«you could walk up to the counter and ask yourself» while she was on the way there to the kitchen, so rude! I felt like I the customer was bothering her, God forbid she do her job! Don’t recommend this place! the food wasn’t that great either, not much of a selection.

Below average to average food. Looks better on Unilocal than it tastes. No seating and crowded.

Rock n Roll. So cool to have this so close to work. The Dan Russo pizza was fantastic with excellent very fresh ingredients. Crust, flawless. I’ll be back!

Anytime you get a tip about a coffee shop from the local surf shop, it’s likely going to be a good find. In our case, we were pleasantly surprised by our morning experience, and just had to come back for lunch. The staff at Lucky Penny was excellent! They were helpful in directing poorly informed tourists on the best options for a day in Santa Barbara. They were helpful in choosing the best menu items for our tastes and dietary restrictions(wife is gluten & dairy minimal). And, the staff was just… nice, good, quality people. But, we go to restaurants and coffee shops to stuff our faces, not to hang out with the employees, right? Well, Lucky Penny has that covered, too. The coffee was amazing. The food was amazing. The beer was limited, but good.(Remember, we had two visits… morning and afternoon, so both coffee and beer were totally legit.) We had some coffee and a treat in the morning, and enjoyed both enough to come back. For lunch, we had salad, pizza, and the coffee-infused pulled-pork sandwich. Everything was wonderful. The salad was super fresh, tasty, and had lots of little goodies hidden amongst the leafy greens. The pizza was cooked perfectly. Finally, the coffee pulled pork sandwich was excellent. We are so happy we found this little place. Lucky Penny was the highlight of our trip.

I love the outdoor seating and the rustic feel of this small restaurant located in the Funk Zone. I ordered the Wood Fire Chicken Salad and my husband ordered the pulled pork. I am not a salad person but I actually enjoyed this one. The chicken was very tasty and elevated my greens. My husband’s pulled pork sandwich, however, was amazing. I almost wanted to swap food with him. The old fashioned rootbeer was also good. The side chips that came with every order was good but was too spicy for my taste and had an overwhelming flavor so I only had a few. Overall, we had a good experience here.

When we went to dinner at The Lark we checked out the menu at the Lucky Penny and decided that we’d go to breakfast there the next morning. Being on vacation, we lost track of time and we arrived just after their breakfast hour. Lucky for me, they had a lunch pizza with the egg and chorizo that I wanted. We had a great brunch!

EXCELLENTPIZZA. Ordered the Lucky Penny Three Cheese and got additional toppings: pepperoni, sausage, and chicken. When I asked the cashier if I could add additional toppings and mentioned those above he looked at me like that was unheard of which is one thing I didn’t like. Just give me what I ask for and don’t question it, I’m paying for it. Anyways the pizza is so good it supersedes the jerk cashier, so I’m still rating it 5. You can definitely taste the fresh ingredients, best pizza in town! Recommend this place to everyone! A definite plus was the heater outside for the cold. They also didn’t take long to bring us our pizza as was mentioned in the other comments. We came on a Sunday night.

BOMB ass pizza. Like… Some of the best ever. Casual open seating and it does take a while for them to make it. This ain’t Dominos, fam. Pepperonis are the big quality kind. Grab a box and head to one of the wine or beer spots around the corner for a good ol Santa Barbara time.

Pizza!!! While it is hard to mess up the classic combination of dough, tomato sauce, and cheese, Lucky Penny serves up some of the best pizza I have ever had! The crust is amazing. Nice crunch while also soft and perfectly blending into the sauce and toppings. While pizza is the specialty here, they also make homemade chips, sandwiches, and salads for lunch and dinner. For breakfast you can enjoy one of their personal cast iron scrambles. My favorite is the vegetable and goat cheese! The atmosphere is great. Cute little patio, but often tends to fill up quickly as they do not have indoor seating. This is a great place to come with a group of up to five or six. Anymore than that and you may have a hard time finding a place to sit. Have fun guessing the number of pennies covering the exterior of their building!

Ended up at this place by accident really. My boyfriend and I had planned an afternoon of wine tasting and dinner at The Lark before we were to drive back to LA. But, we finished earlier than expected and didn’t want to wait on our 9:30 Lark res. And, of course, there was no way we were going to get in earlier. Having had heard good things about Lucky Penny and because it was right next door, we decided to save time and a lot of money and just split a pizza. I actually think this place may be owned by the same people at The Lark so I shouldn’t be surprised by how delicious it was. But wow, it hit the spot! We split the sausage pizza and couldn’t have been happier. Theres not a ton of seating, but you never have to wait too long for someone to move and open up a table. We spent about $ 16 and one pizza filled us up. Will definitely head back there again.

Love this little joint! Their pizzas are creative, flavorful, and unique! We especially love their homemade popsicle! We have yet to have anything on their menu that we don’t like. This cute little joint has patio seating. It is great place during summer nights. It is also close to the funk zone and bars. It is a great starting point before a casual night out!

Came here and tried two different sandwiches today. 1.) Muffaletta: Soppressata, mortadella, olive tapenade, mozzarella, pickled peppers, red onions. — Delicious! It was refreshing, not too heavy, not too salty and perfectly savory. — The bread had a great crisp to complement it all 2.) Figueroa Mountain Stagecoach Stout Pulled Pork: Slow-braised pork with apple-jalapeño slaw on a brioche bun — With each bite, you tasted something different – savory pork, apple, spice… It was kind of a surprise each time — The slaw was fresh and went well with the pork and the brioche bun I highly recommend these two options. If I return, I’ll definitely give the pizzas a try, they looked amazing!

Funk zone. Lucky Penny is in the funk zone of downtown SB. The only problem is there is nothing funky about this neighborhood. It’s crazy to watch it transform. From a couple of wineries to almost ten, restaurants like this place, and a brewery tasting room. It should be called the fun zone. So load up on some calories here before, or after, the glasses of happiness that can be consumed nearby. I suggest the Milpas pizza. A pie topped with fingerling potatoes, Mexican chorizo, sunny side up egg, spicy tomatillo marinara, cotija, and cilantro. It’s one of those pizzas that as you approach the last slice, you hope to god your lady friend is full and lets you have it. The pulled pork sandwich was just ok. No BBQ sauce on the premises. I understand some view that sauce masks the flavor of the product. I disagree. Next time I’ll bring a bottle in her purse or just order something else. The patio offers communal seating with a few private tables. There is no indoor seating. They need the space for their wood fired oven. Hopefully in the future they can find the space for a few kegs to serve beer on tap. Kind of goes with pizza. Bottled just doesn’t cut it.
