Uncle Rocco’s New York Pizza

My sister needed a quick bite. We didn’t have time to Unilocal and this place looked legit. It was a bad sign when I didn’t see any hot pizza slices in the hot foods display case once I walked up to the counter. Should’ve listened to my gut and ran out of there as fast as I can! So the employee said pizza slices are available (any toppings). Weird… What was delivered were: overpriced, reheated pizza. Surprisingly, I love the flavor of the dough (probably store bought) but, the pepperoni tasted spoiled, onions were sliced rings (not chopped), and pineapple chunks were definitely straight from a can :|
I don’t think these folks ever made a legit pizza EVER in their lives. I do not recommend.

Was good many yrs ago. Over priced the owner is a total jerk (Johnny I believe). him messing with hells angels. Said dude they will come back blow your place up. He put on some tough guy NY dago shit. I eat hells angels for breakfast attitude. This is a late night rip off for young drunks with nowhere else too go. After 9 tax and excess fees can order 30 pie can get 8 slices for 50. All employees even bouncer are rude they take questions from owner. If your gonna be a rip off thief at least make a better pie. You TURD.

Service was awful. Waited 30+ min for 2 cheese pizza. Couldn’t even give an estimated time.

I ordered spaghetti and got perciatelli… along with the great pizza this place is excellent for authentic Italian dinner :)

Seriously hate this place now. My friend ordered wine which took TWENTY minutes before she asked about where it was. She then was done and ready to leave and asked for a refund. They said they couldn’t given a refund because they didn’t know how. Wtf? So she asked for credit-​they didn’t know how to transfer credit to a gift card: wtf again? So we asked for a manager who wasn’t working. So she reluctantly took a glass of wine. Then I ask for ranch– 50 cents. Try to put it on a card because who has cash these days? Nope-​needs to be cash. Second bad experience in the last six months at this place. I would pick BARBaRIANS any day. Screw this place and their shitty ass customer service and lack of knowledge.

I have never had their pizza so I can’t relate with all these bad reviews. But let me say… Their calzones are the best I’ve had in Santa Barbara (and I’ve had a lot.).
As for the service, I usually call in the order so it’s ready when I’m off work and there have been several times where I get there and they hadn’t even started it. I usually don’t mind that much but one time they felt bad that they rushed the baking process and my calzone was barely cooked which really sucked. But I keep comin’ back cause it’s so darn tasty.
Pepperoni calzone people. It’s the way to go.

Greasy, overpriced, no-​taste, re-​heated pizza. Slices are pretty big, but do yourself a favor and go somewhere else for pizza.

I ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was absolutely delicious. I love the thin crust and the sauce is amazing. I am definitely going to order their pizza more often!

Horrible, overpriced shithole mainly for people who have no other options. If you can avoid this place for something cheaper, you probably won’t regret it.
We stopped by on the way home on christmas 2015 when we were driving down, the pizza was bad. Bad pizza! Expensive pizza! Who cares. No thank you!

Terrible place. I ordered a pick up order on march 25 th 2016 at 10:40 pm, the pizza was waaaay overpriced for a medium pizza. When I asked the cashier why it was overpriced he said they charge extra %10 after 8 pm. Are you guys serious?! I’m a good tipper because I worked in hospitality industry for years, but trying to charge me extra % 10 without telling me and in a sneaky way? This is called stealing in order to guarantee your tip and people probably tip you on the top of that. Shame on you new york pizza for trying to steal! I would never eat at this place again.

It’s good to have a taste of New York on the west coast!!! Great quick place to eat if you’re walking around downtown SB. They have pizza by the slice which is great! Haven’t tried any of the other food but the pizza is really good!

I’m surprised at the negative reviews, uncle Rocco’s pizza is really good. NY style is my favorite and this place honors the tradition well. Best NY option I’ve found between LA and the Bay Area. I will be back for more.

My husband and I are both from New York and New Jersey respectively and are always looking for authentic New York pizza. Uncle Rocco’s is the best we have found on the West Coast. The cheese, crust, and sauce are just right! Every time we visit Santa Barbara, we stop by. Too bad Uncle Rocco’s isn’t in Orang County where we live! Just had a delicious slice for lunch today– thank you!

I am from Yonkers New York and this pizza is legitimate New York style. The pizza is awesome! The draft beer delicious and inexpensive. My family and I traveled from Ojai to spend the day in Santa Barbara and always include a trip to Uncle Roccos. The place is family friendly with excellent music. The sound track always includes tunes by Frank Sinatra, Louie Prima and Dean Martin among other classics. I say go to Uncle Roccos

Outside the door there was a sign that said «voted best pizza in Santa Barbara»… I believed it and walked in.
The place was completely empty… That should’ve been my first clue. I ordered a slice of Godfather pizza and baked artichokes from the counterperson. I’ll just say that the artichokes tasted acidic and basically inedible, and a slice of pizza was simply nasty, and not fresh. I now realize that the sign outside was completely fictitious… And I only have myself to blame for not checking Unilocal first. Don’t go here to eat, you’ll regret it.

$ 6.00 for a slice of cheese pizza with mushroom. It’s a pretty good slice of pizza but I think it’s a bit overpriced. Great customer service and I think they make the pizza slice made to order.

The biggest turn off experienced here was when the gentleman working during our visit said, «Our pizzas are made to order. We have pre-​made pizzas and we add your toppings to them, then heat them up in the oven for a second time.»
This is not fresh pizza, this is not made to order pizza, and it really wasn’t very good pizza either. For what you get, it seemed to be a bit over priced. I also tried the mac-​n-​cheese. The mac-​n-​cheese tasted a lot like pre-​made and re-​heated mac-​n-​cheese. The sauce was really good but there wasn’t enough for the amount of pasta that was served. The pizza was greasy and even though the piece appears to be huge, it isn’t that filling because it is thin, greasy, and lightly covered with toppings.
The service was good while we were the only ones in the restaurant. However, once it got busy it was clear that they couldn’t handle the amount of people and everyone’s service suffered.

The worst! Waited like 40 minutes for my beer. Then another 30 for my pizza.
Customer service was the worst. Everyone I asked for help told me to wait 10 minutes and then f’ed off. Never coming back again!

The pizza is legit! But let’s be honest yes the prices are ridiculous. Charge to use a credit card, charge for eating late at night? Really how crazy. Can’t beat $ 3 drafts. I realized a few months back the prices were $ 6 a slice rather then $ 5 their getting better w the prices hopefully they’ll actually get it and not charge so much that’s why their star ratings are soo low. But service was okay. went their twice the first time the guy cut our pizza in half we requested it then changed our mind the pizza wasn’t out yet but he did it anyways he forgot, the 2^nd time I wanted beer. He had to walk across the room, maybe too far for him it took him a while to get my beer I could’ve had it while I waited for my pizza he wasn’t doing anything. Anyways I’ll be back. Hopefully soon!

Ok on the pizza: it sucks and it’s overpriced. I’ve lived in New York; this is not even close and 3x the price. HOWEVER the saving grace is…
3 dollar drafts all day. Including big label «craft» beers like prohibition, Sierra Nevada, etc. soooooo I mean that’s pretty great if you just want to drink. Coincidentally that is what I wanted to do while ambling in here one night.
It is a bar second so atmosphere and service lack but who cares, 3 dollar drafts yo.
(I’ve been living in expensive cities too long so this is overly exciting to me)
