I absolutely love this place. This is where I come to buy gifts for the women in my family, gifts for their kitchen. The price is worth it for the fine quality.

This review is based solely on browsing the store because I did not make a purchase nor am I an expert on fine Italian pottery. The pottery is colorful and beautiful. The prices were a bit high compared to pottery I have seen at other stores that look quite similar. I can’t speak of quality so I’m assuming that’s what commands the higher prices.

Their pottery is amazing! A wide variety of styles hand painted in Italy & brought to Santa Barbara for us to enjoy. Catch their sales! They are awesome! Get on their mailing list. If you think their prices are expensive… have you been to Italy lately? It will cost you more to buy it in Italy than To buy it in the Santa Barbara store. We’re lucky in enjoy them locally. Many designers and fans drive up from LA just to go to their store here in SB.

Several weeks ago I was in the store and found it to be extremely good. I posted a positive review on this site recommending the merchandise and the kindness of the staff. I am very surprised and concerned why this positive review has been dropped. What games do Unilocal staffers play? I’m going to stick with trip adviser in the future. They apparently do not selectively delete reviews.

I was roaming around Santa Barbara when I walked by this store, where its window casing was filled with wonderfully painted ceramics. Upon entering the store, I’m in awe by the amounts of fine crafted exquisite ceramics in the store. For me, I would consider purchasing some of their ceramics as an accent decoration, or a couple large singular devices to display this wonderful art. But that’s just me. Their collection theme ranged from displaying the seasons, different types of foods, and religious meaning. The store also has a nice collection of kitchen accessories, books, and soaps. Their cookbooks are going to be a fun challenge for me as I always like to learn something new. Cooking for me is learning, and enjoying the results at the same time. They also provide shipping of items, I’ve had a few of their items shipped back to where I live — and it always arrived in perfect condition, with no damage of any kind. So, whether you’re a local or traveling, take a look here, you may find something you’ll want to take back home with you.

Be careful of your business transactions with them. The young blond lady at the counter glanced at me sideways as she was ringing up my order at the cash register. She put the change in my hand without counting it out for me, and when I counted it, I found she had short-changed me ten dollars. When I pointed out her mistake, she didn’t apologize, even though her boss was there and witnessed the whole thing. I got the impression it was done on purpose, so be careful. My group had just given them over $ 800 worth of business, and this is how they repaid us.

Found the prices very high for most pieces, even those discounted on sale. But… they had something I have not seen anywhere else: Italian style melamine dishes. Unfortunately, you cannot microwave them, but they could function as an accent or desert plate. I thought they were really unusual.

Disclaimer: I don’t know anything about Italian pottery — price, etc. That said, this store seemed very well-stocked with lovely ceramics. They were friendly and helpful in guiding me to a hostess gift for my mother-in-law. I told them what colors she likes and how much money I wanted to spend($ 40 — 50) and they came up with four possibilities. All were lovely, but one was the unanimous winner in the family poll. $ 38.00 later and a simple, elegant wrapping job and we were out the door.

Overpriced, and their major mistake caught a few translation errors one which read«A tavola non si invecchia mai.» THEIR translation«WIth friends and family at the table, you won’t grow old.» I’m not fluent in italian but it don’t take much to catch that.

Italian Pottery Outlet is a source for the finest in imported Italian pottery at discounted prices. They scours the Italian countryside searching for the most interesting Italian ceramic designs and patterns. They have a huge selection of traditional Italian ceramics(Italian majolica) from Umbria, Tuscany and Sicily, as well as new and exciting patterns from regions all over Italy. The Italian ceramics are made in small workshops where artisans and their families produce individual works of art using techniques handed down from generation to generation. They carry the largest collection of quality, handmade and hand-decorated Italian ceramics in the west, providing our customers with beautiful and unique items for their homes and gardens. A very interesting store that would do very well on the East Coast where there are more Italians. A great place to find gifts for friends, family or yourself. Mama Mia!
