Moved to 596 California Boulevard – first block on Cal Poly side of Highway 101. Same great food.

Great food! But they’ve moved from this location! They’re now off California, by Boba stop.

A little outside of downtown San Luis Obispo is tacos de Acapulco. Always on a search for the perfect breakfast burrito we found it! The egg and cheese burrito is to die for – rice, beans, cilantro and incredible fresh salsa. The place is family run and the dad’s sauce is the secret ingredient. Don’t miss this place.

I really like this place. The food is good, with plenty of options and decent prices. Beyond that, there’s a great family atmosphere that makes you feel welcome. Great for stopping by to get dinner to go

The veggie special tacos are amazing and my sister’s enchilada plate was huge and tasty(and super cheap)! We were stuffed and got out for under $ 17. I’ll definitely be returning!

Tried four tacos, carne asada, pollo asada, carnitas and al pastor. All of them were finger licking delicious. The Al Pastor was the best. Don’t miss the Jamaica/hibiscus drink. Not too sweet. Just right!

Rarely am I ever in the mood for nachos since I’m more of a taco girl, but I came here because the nachos came highly recommended. My friend and I dropped by due in part to a munchies attack and this spot is just right around the corner of where she lives so it was super convenient. We called in our order ahead of time and when we got there it was ready to go. We ordered the Combo Nachos. The difference is we asked for it to have all the meats. That’s asada, chicken and pork. We don’t mess around. We also got a large horchata. No lie, it was THE best horchata I’ve ever had in my life. Them some serious words coming from someone who has had it everywhere in America, Mexico, Guatemala and even Honduras. I’m not sure if it made a difference that I asked for them to only put a little bit of ice in the cup. (Side note: adding a smidge of rum is) The nachos was bomb. We killed the whole thing. There was just the right amount of everything. The chips to toppings ratio was on point. This just might be my new SLO spot instead of going downtown.

Food was fine, but unmemorable. There was a huge fly that kept buzzing around the food. LOTS of mexican people were dining there… I guess that means it’s good. TIP: Order the small hortchata unless you love diabetes or you’re going to share with 3+ people!

Best. Mexican. Ever. My husband and I fell upon this place three years ago on a visit to California(from Miami, FL). Since then, we’ve returned to Cali twice, making a point to eat here each time. On this particular visit, we were going to pass through San Luis Obispo and eat here on Sunday, but because TdA was closed, we decided to delay our trip and spend the night in Santa Barbara instead(yes, I’m serious). So, what do we get? I have a burrito every time. Today, I chose the chicken verde and it left my taste buds tingling. It’s layers and layers of flavor. Artistically-crafted flavors that blend and do the cha cha cha on your tongue. My hubby had the carnitas Mula, which he also loved. We shared a large horchata, a generous portion of(also) the best I’ve ever had. I dream about this place when I’m craving some good Mexican in Miami because the truth is, no one does it as well as Tacos de Acapulco. The staff here is also wonderful and patient, answering all your questions, which makes the experience that much better. We look forward to our next meal here. Thank you, you amazing culinary artists of TdA.

I am not a morning person by any means. But I find their machaca breakfast burrito to be one of the most compelling reasons to get out of bed and put pants on before they stop serving breakfast(11am). It’s not just their breakfast I often find myself craving either. This authentic, family run restaurant is super tasty and friendly all around.

So I’ve been back a few more times and have gotten their breakfast burritos. Hands down the best, and my favorite breakfast burritos ever. The staff are really friendly and happy to chat about the food. They have been turning down the music more often. But seriously, these burritos are so good. Potato, machaca, de Mexico, whatever kind you get… stupid good. Forget Gus’s…these things are worth talking about. In fact… dang. I’m going there now to get some more. Got me all fired up now. And to reiterate, the horchata… bomb.

Mexican food in San Luis Obispo has yet to be anything close to spectacular. That said this place has several valuable assets that I think make it stand out from the others; 1: The family that runs this place are really genuine and hard working. At any given point in the day, you’ll notice the son and dad duo in the kitchen busting their asses off to get the orders out; always with a respectful smile and thank you. And the lady that runs the cash register training her son only add to the family-owned atmosphere and hard-working staff. 2: Not very many places around here are brave enough to carry a wide variety of common Mexican dishes. The fish options and the chile colorado come to mind. I come here for the pollo in chile verde burritos which are delicious and plentiful.

Contrary to all the positive reviews posted, my experience here was not that great unfortunately. Got the lengua burrito with guacamole and sour cream. The burrito was pretty small. Lengua was good but the burrito was mostly rice. Some rice was even uncooked. The flavor is alright but the fact that you can taste the uncookedness of the rice is really unappealing. They do have the California burrito here, but it wasn’t on the main menu as it was on a little chalkboard behind the counter. You wouldn’t notice it until you go up to pay.

I had yet to find a little Mexican restaurant that even came close to the ones I had growing up in LA… Until today. This taqueria Is seriously THEBEST place to go to when in SLO. I’m lucky enough to live very close, and I am constantly stopping by to grab a bite to eat. Their carne asada tacos are amazing, and their hot salsa is definitely different than most. You have to ask for it, so don’t forget. Their chips are very different from most Mexican restaurants, and in a good way. Try dipping them in their beans, and then the hot sauce. Just trust me on this one! Kind of Expensive, but kind of worth it considering how little Mexican cuisines are here in SLO.

We came in from out of town to ride the quads at Oceano dunes. After a long day out on the windy dunes we asked the driver to tell us the best Mexican food in town so he sent us here! If you’re looking for all the fancy stuff like loud music, margaritas and bright colors this isn’t the place for you. It’s a very small mom and pop restaurant. But let me tell you, it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. I was surprised to see so many vegetarian options! I had the veggie fajitas burrito and a cold Modelo. It was delicious. Add the jabanero sauce, guacamole and cilantro and you’re in Mexican heaven. My son had the chicken burrito and said it was really good. My husband ordered the soft chicken tacos and was equally as impressed. The beans and rice are flavored to perfection. The portions are huge and the prices are right. This was the perfect meal after a long day out on the dunes. We will definitely be back!

I know I haven’t checked out very many Taquerias since moving to SLO(okay, this is the only one…), but DAMN those chicken enchiladas are my jam! Combo plate w/two is only $ 7.75. We’ve been a few times, and I’ve had the chicken tacos and chile relleno(both good), and the large horchata comes in basically a styrofoam basin. It is delicious and enough to share! The«guacamole» is more of an avocado sauce, and is actually pretty standard in taquerias. Don’t hate, unless you want to pay a huge premium to have hand-mashed Haas avocados. I love the rice and beans that come with the combos… there are a ton of different flavors going on, and they are all delicious. Literally the nicest service I’ve received at a hole-in-the-wall, from every single member of the team. There’s just a fantastic vibe going on in this place. Love them!
