On a recent trip back to SLO, a few friends and I stopped at Pizza on Tap, formerly Babbo’s Pizza. The pizza was still fantastic, and they had a much better selection of bottled beers. The ownership may have changed but the pizza and the atmosphere are still awesome. Still highly recommended.

We went to Babbo;s for the first time the other night, although we used to live just down the street. It’s located where Campus Donuts used to be. We were worried about being overrun by Poly students so we went early(5:00) and we were the only people in the place. The food was good. C got an antipasto salad(huge) and a pasta dish. I got the meatball sandwich. It was just right – large meatballs, tasty sauce and lots of melted mozzarella – not just a sprinkle of parmesan like some places give you. So I can’t recommend the pizza ’cause we didn’t get one, but I’d definitely go back.

I’ve been here about 6 times and this is an ok place to take a group of friends who are really hungry for some pizza. Their have a good amount of toppings to choose from. This place is also famous for it’s large pizza, which is about 28 inches in diameter! It’s huge and can satisfy 10 people. The pizza isn’t anything to go crazy for though. I’d come here if you have a big group or just looking for something that isn’t a chain pizza place and just wanna get some decent local pizza.

I’m not a pizza lover & I love the Pizza we got from Babbo’s. We picked up a Rastafarian and it was scrumptious from beginning to end. It’s right behind the Shell station, it looks a little like dive, don’t let that scare you. Stop by, get yourself a yummy pizza and you’ll get more that your money’s worth :-)

Being the avid pizza-lover that I am, I’ve been known to be quite critical of my pizza. Must of started when I realized I loved pizza while trying to emulate the TMNT when I was a little kid. I’ll criticize the crust, the sauce, the way it’s cooked, thickness, and even the smell. However Babbo’s really has everything going for them in my book. I liked it so much that I included them in my Pizza Speech for Speech Class at Cal Poly a couple years back. It’s definitely a little more pricey then other places in town but very much worth it. Their ingredients are pretty good quality. Their specialty pizzas are the best. I’ve tried a couple of them and nothing seems to beat the Rastafarian. I have so much I constantly have to keep myself from continuously ordering cause I get nervous that I’ll stop liking it. But it hasn’t happened yet! The Rastafarian: Sausage, Cheese, Pineapple, Cayenne Pepper Powder, Spinach under the cheese with White Sauce. I get it every single time. The other specialty pizzas are great too, the Rastafarian is just my favorite though. They also sell pizza by the Slice for lunch at good price. Also the amount of salad you get for their price is very reasonable. Thier beer prices are good, I believe it’s two dollar pints everyday for MGD.

My girlfriend and I went into Babbos for a quick slice of pizza this past saturday. As we were eating, a strange man kept initiating small talk with us about the restaurant, asking how we like it, etc. I know Babbos has been up for sale for a while now, so I had a feeling this guy was either looking to buy it, or was just some wierdo. Turns out he was one of the new owners. He mentioned to me he was thinking about having sushi there as well because«he hears college kids like it» and«there’s not another sushi place around.» THISIS A BADSIGNFORBABBOSLOVERS. He obviously doesn’t realize that good sushi is something SLO has more than enough of. Pizza and sushi don’t exactly beling together.

Great place for a cheap lunch: $ 5.71 for a HUGE slice of very tasty pepperoni(equivalent to about 4 slices of Round Table pizza), and a fountain drink. Be sure to bring cash though, because any card purchases under $ 15 are charged a $ 0.75 fee.

Three freaking feet pizza. This place definitely has the biggest pizza I know. I was told that they only make the max of three feet because any bigger, the pizza box could not go through a door flat. The pizza here us great. You can personally order a single Slice of pizza and they will cook it fresh for you. Of course they have pretty decent price beers and they have some video games that you can occupy yourself with. The owner is pretty awesome and nice. Their crust is really good. They make it thinner than most places. I like thinner pizzas. The place is behind the gas station and is a little difficult to see. Just drive in the lot and go to the back.

I really like this place. I lived pretty much across the street for two years, and went there whenever I really felt like I needed a treat. They are the only place in slo that has green olives on pizza(so much better than black olives), and their calzones are great. The place is expensive if you’ve got only one person eating, but the more people you have, the cheaper it is(try the 36-inch pizza if you dare). They also work with clubs and other school organizations, so props for that. I will say that it can get pretty rowdy, as there are always people playing beer pong(with such low prices on beer, I’m not surprised). This also means that if you’re not planning on hanging out there, I’d call and order ahead, because they make everything to order, and it can take a while.

Uh, BESTBESTBESTBEST pizza in SLO. Woodstocks is flimsy and sucky. Calzones here are incredible and you can also just get a «slice» which is HUGE and comes in 4 little slices. Specialties are really good too.

Babbos makes the most gigantic pizza I’ve ever seen. I’m not sure on the exact diameter but to give you an idea, the pizza was so huge we could barely get the box through the door. And once we got the pizza through the door, the summed up reaction of the rest of our friends was«WTF?!» Now if you’ve got a big group of hungry Cal Poly kids, Babbo’s giant pizza is definitely not a bad idea. The price of this huge pizza depends on the toppings you get. The other night 8 of us split a sausage, mushroom and pepperoni for $ 43. Not bad at all. We even had lots of leftovers. So the value is definitely a plus. What’s even better is the pizza tastes great! I can’t say it’s the best tasting pizza I’ve ever had but, it’s definitely good enough. Their pizza has good sauce, perfect amount of cheese, and yummy toppings. Where else can you get a reasonably priced huge pizza that tastes really good?! Babbos Pizza of course!

I like Babbos for their specialty pizzas. It is good for indecisive people such as myself who are too lazy/hungover to pick out toppings. Each time I have been here they have been missing an ingredient(such as bacon or pesto) but have been generous in replacing what they don’t have with whatever we wanted. The place seems a little slow for eat-in dinning, which makes it a little dull. However, on Thursdays they hold Beirut games. There is also a HUGE pizza you and a buddy can attempt to eat, and if finished it’s free. I believe the rules are as follows: No bathroom, no puking, no leaving the room, and it must be finished within an hour. Above all beer is very cheap here. A large High life pitcher for 4 bucks and pints for 1. Babbos is somewhat hidden behind the Shell station off Santa Rosa Ave. It would be nice to see this place more happening, so give it a try.
