This was our first time here. The appearance had a lot going on for it. The ambience was quaint and appealing, offering a Mediterranean cuisine. Unfortunately the food did not live up to the appearance. I had the beef shawarma, which was very dry and had little flavor. I was expecting thinly sliced pieces of beef but these were large cuts of meat and difficult to chew. The pita wrap was barely warm. My wife had the falafel, which she normally loves. She said the falafel was dry and needed more tahini dressing. They need to work on cleaning the place up a little bit(see photo). We left a little disappointed. We will not be returning.

Went there with my husband for lunch, we are not from the area. I ordered a gyro plate. Husband ordered a gyro sandwich. Food was amazing. Very good flavor and the atmosphere is very laid back. Definitely recommend. And will come back next time we are in the area!

Fattoush was an excellent post hike stop. A chilled Corona and sunshine on the patio that was hard to beat! Food was fresh, gyros meat was delish and there was a ton of flavor in the gyro chunks. The taziki was really good, the pita was a little too tortilla like, but all in all very good. My friend Shellie got a(huge) gyro and I got a falafel and gyro plate. Texture on falafel was good, again tasted really fresh. Patio is dog friendly. In fact, he went out of his way to make sure we felt welcome — and even gave us a water dish. I’ll be back!

They have delicious falafel and the best fresh pita bread, Also some of the best customer service I’ve ever received in SLO. As a student, its nice to be able to rely on a place that is open late and is always welcoming!

Holy Horrible… This is a pure disgrace to Mediterranean food. The gyro plate looked like baby food and my Gyro meat was a mix of undercooked mush balls to burnt crispy balls. hummus was very viscous and the pita bread(i hesitate to call it that) tasted like chewy wheat. There was barely any meat to begin with but that turned out to be a good thing! No way near worth $ 10… Would not recommend to an enemy of mine. The only thing good about this place is the owner, super nice guy… wish his food was better

Food was great! Ordered a shawarma, with chicken and beef. Customer service was even better! Very impressive. Nice spot in SLO to get a quick bite to eat. Decent food for a great price.

Fattoush is probably my favorite place in SLO to grab some decent Mediterranean food to go when I’m in a hurry. I usually order a gyro sandwich combo, and the portion size is huge! The owner is always really friendly and nice to all his customers, and he always greets each person. Although I think Petra serves better quality Mediterranean food overall, Fattoush hits the spot when I need something quick and don’t want to drive to Petra.

Well, maybe today was an off day because I ate here first two years ago and a few times since and the experience was better than today’s, but I doubt that I’ll be back with both Petra and Jaffa offering better food and customer service. I was surprised to read that this restaurant is linked with Petra given the vast difference in my experiences with the two stores. Today I ordered a beef shwarma plate for HERE, I paid .50 cents for the card charge and end up spending just about $ 10, which is average for lunch in SLO. I get a beef shwarma wrapped in foil and placed in a bag with fries TOGO. So I asked for a plate. The owner is handed a plate by the kitchen staff and it’s wet, the owner first takes his hand to clean it off then takes a napkin to finish it saying, «I’m a clean freak.» So, I start to eat the steak shwarma and the meat is poorly seasoned, over cooked(some parts were burned), very chewy and just not tasty at all. I try a few more pieces and it’s the same thing… but the fries were great! So I take the owner the plate and asked if maybe I could swap this out for a gyro or something else. He asks me «why», I say just what I indicated above. «chewy, not well seasoned, just not what I was expecting». He asks if he may«try it», I say, «of course». He takes a bite, looks at me and says, «it’s fine, I like it, it’s the way we always make it, tastes good to me, and we spend $ 6.99 a pound on our sirloin». Not the response I was looking for, but I say, «well okay, can I just get something else?» He says, «yes, I want my customers to be happy». He also says he’ll remake the whole order including fries. I go back to sitting down. He hands me another bag of, what I“m guessing is the gyro, with another comment about«how I want my customers to be happy so that they don’t make negative reviews on Unilocal because it’s so hard doing business in SLO and places like this won’t be around in 10 years and rent is really expensive and I don’t want to lose business… yada yada yada» … WAAAAYYY tooooo much info. I just want to eat lunch. I just want to eat a tasty lunch and I’ve been spoiled by PETRA. I’m frustrated by this point. I told him that I had fries with the meal, he offers to get me fries. But apparently he’s also forgotten that I was going to eat on the patio and I’m just getting more and more fed up by the second. I told him he can just«keep the fries, I“m going to take the gyro with me and it’s hard to eat fries in the car». He asks me if I“m sure, I say yes. And then, because I just feel like I“m inconveniencing him now, I just ask him if maybe I should just get my money back and go elsewhere. He tells me there’s «no refunds, that the meat is sirloin, it’s a little chewy and that’s what is explained on his menu»(again, my fault for not enjoying chewy overcooked and under seasoned beef). Perhaps I should have said«No, I want my fries, I want a plate and I want to eat on the patio», but I just didn’t want to hear anymore about how hard it is for a «small business owner to survive in SLO» and I start heading to the car. He walks the other way saying something to the effect that«he’s now come out of pocket for the sandwich». I get back out of my car and put the gyro on the counter. I told him he can keep the gyro and I’ve just donated $ 10 to a local business. He replies that he’s just spent«$ 7 of MYOWNMONEY on YOUR lunch» and just acted really dramatic and petulant. I explained to him that if he’s «going to say he’s doing something out of the kindness of his heart maybe he shouldn’t also guilt and shame his customers who aren’t satisfied with his food and now I’ve totally lost my appetite». And, I get in my car and drive away, HANGRY. … wasn’t HANGRY before this interaction, and definitely not returning to this place. MEH … bummed because this was literally the FIRST place I ate at when I came to visit SLO a few years back to set myself up to move here. I have told so many people about that first experience and how happy I was with the place. I guess I’ll just keep PETRA in my pocket and keep eating there several days a week.

First of all, let me preface this by saying I am used to Gyro sandwiches made in Chicago and I am always weary about trying them on the west coast because so far I have been disappointed more times than not. Having said that, this place was no different. I would have given the place 1 star, but the service was so great that I had to give it 2 stars. I had driven into SLO from Santa Cruz and arrived at 9:30 pm. There were a number of places open, but after checking Unilocal I was really in the mood for a gyro. This place was right by the hotel that I am staying at, and it was open until 10(supposedly). I called in to place the order, only to find out that they had turned off the fryer(so I could not order fries). I figured it would be okay, since they were able to make a Greek salad. I went ahead and placed the order for a Gyro(with no lettuce) and the salad. Upon arriving, I went to pay for the food and they charged $ 0.50 for using my AMEX card. I was okay with that, but when I saw my gyro being made with lettuce I almost flipped my lid. In Chicago, you will NEVER find a gyro with lettuce in it. I am not sure if that’s the way it is everywhere else, but that is why I ordered it without lettuce. When I mentioned to the guy, «Please don’t put lettuce in the gyro» he looked at me like I was from another planet! He then made sure that I understood that the side salad I ordered would have lettuce in it. Yeah fool… I know that(I thought to myself). I get back to the hotel and it was the saddest excuse for a gyro I have ever had, The meat was non-existent, the pita had a huge hole in it(looked like it was from the guy’s finger when he assembled the sandwich, the sandwich was wrapped like a burrito(rather than like a taco), and the salad was soggy as heck. I will say thought that the pita bread was really good. Overall, I would not eat hear again. I would come back for the great service in hopes that they have something better than a gyro.

Stop here frequently for Greek salad and falafel. We live in the area, so usually take it home. We have eaten at the outside tables, but prefer to eat at home. It’s on a busy intersection near Cal Poly, so can be noisy. We don’t eat meat or gluten, so can’t comment on the rest of the menu.

My sister-in-law heard this place was good and wanted to try it. I ordered the chicken kabob(the picture next to it had the chicken on a shish-kabob). I assumed that my chicken would be on a stick, but it wasn’t. Might want to change the picture so people don’t get confused like me. Not that big of a deal, but still. My sister-in-law ordered a gyro and it was huge! She needed a knife and I went to the front to ask for a knife and he handed me a spatula o_o They didn’t have a knife? hmmm The pita bread that came with my meal was under baked. There were doughy patches and not so tasty. I hate wasting food… ugh. At least the beer was good =/ Would I go back: NOPE!

Just OK. If you are in a hurry and have a craving for a quick Middle Eastern/Greek lunch, this place will do the trick. The food is on the bland side; it needs a little Sriracha…

Worst gyro I have ever eaten. Lettuce tasted like chlorine, tomatoes and red onions had no flavor. The humus look like pudding and tasted awful. The vegetarian delight was a disaster. Does not even qualify for one star.
