This restaurant is awful. All the food is FROZEN and in plastic bags in the freezer. All they do it warm it up. Noth worth the time/money.

THINK old oil! My first n only experience was memorable for sure. I can still see the huge tanks of rancid oil. Maybe it was the last day before the place was going to change out the oil? So, can’t tell how fresh the STUFF n batter was cuz the oil just killed it. Nonetheless, couldn’t eat it, what was consumed caused misery. Sorry hut.

Fried food covered in batter. What else do you expect? Kinda hard to screw up. The prawns are pretty damn good.

Massive portions of fried seafood for cheap — yes! But you get what you pay for… Everything is deep fried and tastes just OK… You definitely will suffer from the feeling of heavy grease circulating your body after having a meal here. But it’s nothing hot tea can’t wash down. For me, this place is the perfect«comfort food» after a hangover. However, because of the greasy content and heavy batter, I would limit myself to this place to once a month. Between my boyfriend and I, we usually order the large fish and chips(which alone, could easily feed two people), prawns, oysters, and a catfish for $ 16!!! Yes, we are fatty duo, but at prices this cheap, we like to have a variety. Plus, we save the rest for out next meal… so if you work out the math, cheap becomes cheaper if split between two people and two meals! To Consider: — This is no place for a date. It’s located in a plaza of about 3 stores. It’s not a happening place at all. — It has a «bar» with only Bud on tap… with only two bar stools… but the Bud is $ 1.79 a glass!!! — It has one big screen TV with a lagging satellite system. — Service is awesome. They are very welcoming, accommodating, and always smiling.

Stop in as I drove by. Order the 3 piece fish with onion rings instead of fries. Only 5.19. A great meal at a good price for fish. Malt vinegar, tartar sauce hot sauce. Fish were large pieces, place is very clean people nice. They are own by a Korean family now. But they keep up the standards of English style Fish & Chips also adding other dishes. Korean plates fried bananas. Good place to go.

This is the place i go when I want something fried to eat. I usually get one of the family buckets for me and my girlfriend. Their fish pieces are big along with their prawns. They give you plenty of fries as well with your order. This is a pretty solid place of fish and chips.

Love this place. I’ve been going to this place since I was a kid and it was called Fisherman’s Grotto. My grandmother loves the fish here. She is very picky about her fish and chips! The fish and veggies are fresh and fried when you order it. Very cheap. The food is a little greasy and full of batter… but thats kinda what makes it good =)

I have been coming to this restaurant for years(YES, more than 10 years). What keeps me coming back is their quality of food. Like what previous reviews said, they are never skimpy on the servings. They are so GENEROUS. I know many of you long timers would agree with me that they always give out extra fish/prawn for FREE when they think the fish/prawns are a little small. How awsome is that?! There’re new additions to the menu recently, like the chinese/korean BBQ etc, but I haven’t tried them yet. What I really LOVE about this place is their juicy crispy fish, prawns(they are HUGE, really… they are), and of course, the fried oysters(don’t forget the cocktail sauce). I dunno why some of the reviews say the food is dry, when you bite into the fish, you can taste the juiciness and tenderness. Plus the thin cripsy outer layer, what can I say, it’s the beeeest. And did I mention they have FRIEDICECREAM? I know it sounds weird, but the flavor is so unique(crinchy on the outside, sweet and soft on the inside). I think it’s vanilla flavor icecream. Sometimes I drop by the place just to order that to go. YUMMY! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Fishermans’ hut is where I go to if I’m craving fish n chips. The fish is always fresh, the pieces are nice and thick and not overdone. They also give you extra plenty servings there, nevery skimpy. Very tasty food, quality and quantity every time.

I love Fisherman’s. Always have the best, friendliest, service. They always take your order and promptly begin cooking it, needless to say, they’re good at what they do. Huge portions of delicious fish battered and fried until its flaky, golden, crispy. Even their chicken here is good, though I’m not sure it is freshly battered like the fish, it still is good. More recently, the restaurant has undertaken new ownership, and I feel that the quality in the service and the food department need a little more oomph. This is the reason for the three, instead of five, stars.

The jumbo prawns were seasoned well, and the fish was hot and crispy! I liked it a lot! Omgsh and I love steak fries, and I like A LOT of steak fries. I couldn’t finish all my fries. I’ll say it again, I COULDNOTFINISHALLMYFRIES. The portion size was awesome, I will be back.

first of all, i couldnt help but notice the lady frying up my fish kept wiping her hands all over herself while talking on the phone. ive been to third world countries so this didnt really bother me, but still… fish was ehhhhh. tasted like baking soda. as someone stated, it was probably dried pollack. BUT!!! i did get 4 pieces for the price of 3. and i love fried foods so i couldnt complain. i happen to like my fries fried right through so they taste like chips from a bag so that was a plus. but you do go to a fish n chips place for the fish. and ive definately had better. if youre poor like me and need places where they serve the Recession Special, yeah. this is it.

Fisherman’s Hut. Great name I thought… Gotta check this place out! I first heard about this place since it was mentioned under my favorite fish and chips Unilocal page. A loyal customer of Fisherman’s Hut advertised their restaurant saying how inexpensive they were and how they gave huge portions. So I thought I’d give this place a try… more food for a low price? Sweet! Why not give it a try? My visit… I entered into this restaurant that had nothing but empty seats. I saw the cook sitting down next to the entrance reading a Chinese newspaper. First impression? Must be slow because of the economy? After scoping out the menu I realized there was only one kind of fish available. I ordered a Medium Fish and Chips with a side of Prawns. The order only took about 10 minutes to finish and it was less than $ 10! So how was it? My fish was dry and tasted as if they used dried Pollack. I’ve never tasted anything like it before. It left an icky taste in my mouth. I also tried the prawns and they had so much batter on them I couldn’t appreciate the prawns. It’s like I got filled up with the batter and not the actual prawns. What I did like was their steak cut fries. There was a generous portion given. Nevertheless, I was disappointed with the seafood which is the main reason why I went to FH. The lesson I learned? If the seafood your about to eat is cheap… don’t trust it!!! It’s probably cheap for a good reason. Quality not quantity please!

fish and chip ok food was good the first time we went there, but the second time we went there i ordered the same pork chops and veggies, and the meat tasted dead(old meat) and the pork chops were mostly bones, i orded 3 pork chops, cuz they slice very thin and i was real hungry, but i dont know if i’ll ever order that again.

COVERTHEWORLDINMALTVINEGAR! Shhh, stomach, a salad would be good for us. NO! VINEGAR! ONTOPOFTASTYCRUNCHYGREASE! Wouldn’t some cucumber & tomatoes be good? FRIEDBATTER! ANDFISH! ANDMOREGREASE! Hush up. Please. TANGYVINEGAR! FRENCHFRIES! MASSIVETARTARSAUCE! Sigh. «Honey, would you like some Fish N Chips?» «Heck yeah! Sounds great! It’s been a month or two, hasn’t it?» «More like a week, but it does feel like longer. The deep-fried zuccini is so good, those big hunks of fresh zuke count as a healthy vegetable. Don’t they? Don’t they?» WHATEVER! VINEGARNOW!

Its really good. Not the best, you want the best head to the wharf, but this is good fish and chips. Have not tried anything else, but they have a varied menu that looks promising. The location seems to do it an injustice as it fades into the background. I drove past it for what must have been years, noticed it in the rush hour back up.

I would call this place an average Fish N Chips restaurant with no real décor or anything special like that. It’s basically«Average food and no BullS**t.» I have not really tried anything but the Fish N Chips so I will update my review in a few months. Anyways, the prices are reasonable, the Fish and the Chips are okay and the employees, well, they arean’t the friendliest people in the world.

Specializing in fish n chips, these guys also offer some asian dishes. The deep fried seafood is made to order, but isn’t as impressive as the London Fish-N-Chips down the street. They do have better variety here, if you are looking for more than just deep fried seafood and chips.
